  • It's always a good day when you can tick off the target species ! we head out to 140m deep and do bit of bottom bashing with Ben from Portland Bait and Tackle ! Let's see what we find !

    Had a whole spread of baits out last week and the redbait didn’t get a touch! Gives me a bit of confidence to try it again. Nice schoolies.

    Brave stance targeting string pullers in 140m water on a spin reel. Couldn’t of been much room for running. 😂 like your style

    What size gear were you using? Im trying to convince my old man to go out off Portland or Port Fairy. Love the Portland content :)

      5500 slammer
      35lb braid
      60lb shock leader

      so the rigs were 200lb mono, with 8/0 or 9/0 circle hooks, only reason I use such heavy trace is for the electric anything lighter you tend to lose a lot more then you get, if I was manual winding I have lighter rigs with 100lb mono and some wire droppers to stop us getting bitten off
