Sorry… this has nothing to do with coocking, 'cause cooking is not an art… also if many recent shitty tv shows try to make you think that it is. Food is an important element for life… stop playing with hit!!! XD
Agreed on the physical similarities! (fortunately) Gavin is a consummate professional, and is ALWAYS a gentleman (unlike that reality tv, ass-clown chef)
The man is incredible, and has become one of my all-time favorites. But where he really shines is the sound of his set. Truly one of the cleanest, best sounding sets on the planet!
They all have different names because "Octoban" is a trademark from Hoshino Gakki, which is the company that owns Tama and Ibanez. Gavin's "log drums" are different because they're 8" diameter instead of 6" and have a reso head instead of being open on the bottom.
One of the greatest drummers to share our atmosphere. And seems like such a down to earth person. His technique is of another dimension... anybody got more space puns? Although I sincerely mean all of mine lol
Absolute genius of a drummer. He gifts us with his skill & gives freely of his knowledge & I treasure every bit of it. What a bad ass... wish I could afford a kit as beautiful as that SQ2. It'd be a blast to play for sure.
i love his alltime new ideas for the Sonor-Drumset, always creative..12 protean Snare, one of the most lovin n variable snares i play..still one of my Drum-Heros by now..Keep pumpng and wish good Touring. cheers from zurich/ Suisse.!
I saw KC at DPAC Oct. 2017 and it was the most inspirational gig from a drumming standpoint that Ive seen since I saw Peter Erskine about 20 years ago...Gavin is my top drummer for 2018 ! I'm dying to dissect his style and incorporate it...
I have only seem Mr Harrison live once with Porcupine Tree in 2005 and it was amazing!!! I have been waiting for KC to come to my city but have not played Phoenix Az since 2003.Maybe some day before Mr Fripp calls it a day they will come here again.
1:35 "A 20 inch floor tom", or as other drummers might call it "a kick pedal" ...also, a small snare and another even smaller one. That's quite an unusual setup!
Always, I wanna know his 5 custom bells size & drum set sizes. 8/10/12/14S/22B/15F/18F, right? really? 15 & 18 floor tom, really? oh... anyway, i like his Gibraltar hardware. I love Gibraltar always. So, Let me know his custom bells size and floor toms.
Crimson Kng control is a strong word. He is responsible for writing all parts and rehearsing the drummers in advance of full band rehearsals. The concept, I’m told I “three drummers with one voice”. It’s powerful and amazing. Bruford did the same in the double trio.
Can anyone tell me if there’s new material/album coming out from them I been waiting for King Crimson’s new stuff for awhile...I heard this from a guy like a year or so ago at a record place where I went and sold some CD’s one day he said that they’re supposed to be having a new album coming out this year and this all came up over a shirt he had hanging up on the wall behind him lol I said “that’s a really nice shirt” he’s like “thanks I been listening to King Crimson for years and years they’re one of my favorite groups they should be coming out with a new album in 2018”
So many people are cutting rings out of a head and putting it inside the bottom head of floor Toms. Couldn’t you just put a Remo Powerstroke 4 on the bottom of your floor Tom. It’s a two ply head with the ring built in.
Different methods, different effects. I put a thin head on bottom of the floor tom, but let a piece of cloth (imitation felt), size of a CD or less on the bottom head. Just sitting, no sticking. It acts like a noise-gate, lets the plain sound get out with harmonics, and cut the resonance. You don't have this sound with a thick head.
On the Powerstroke the ring is attached to the head, affecting the sound at all times. With a loose ring, it will fly up everytime the drum is hit, and then shorten the sustain a bit when it lands on the bottom head again.
Yeah it used to be 22x17 a while back but I think he uses 22x15 as of recent. Go with a 22x16 and you’ll have the perfect happy medium of Gavin’s kick sound.
Yeah! Gavin is always pushing boundaries on drummning. Lately i vê been into Larnell Lewis and Jay postones. Two another drum masters (Gavin is still a favorite)
lewis is amazing!!!! now i need to listen Jay Postoes!!! Its my favorite too! when i was younger, i only plays very basics drum music covers with my friends and i was not having so much fun with the drums, even think in leave the music... until i listen fear of a blank planet... now i have a very bad tatto in my right forearm of thats beautifull fill, thanks for the ino! have a great weekend!
With the great group >>>a great drummer >>>Gavin Harrison ! (friendships ! Gavin ! from FRENCHY SOLO DRUMS >>facebook.com/SOELLBASS/videos/2106207133019453/
Gavin Harrison is the Gordon Ramsay of drums, from the hand gestures to how he talks about his craft. Gets me every time
Nick Colantonio it's unsettling how accurate that is. I don't think I'll ever unsee it now.
Sorry… this has nothing to do with coocking, 'cause cooking is not an art… also if many recent shitty tv shows try to make you think that it is. Food is an important element for life… stop playing with hit!!! XD
Nick Colantonio Holy crap. I literally made that revelation while watching this video and then read your comment. Mind. Blown.
Nick Colantonio I thought the same thing dude!
Agreed on the physical similarities! (fortunately) Gavin is a consummate professional, and is ALWAYS a gentleman (unlike that reality tv, ass-clown chef)
Best drummer on this side of the galaxy.
The man is incredible, and has become one of my all-time favorites. But where he really shines is the sound of his set. Truly one of the cleanest, best sounding sets on the planet!
"Octobans", "Rocket Toms", "Hamster Tubes", now freekin' "Log Drums".
I love it man 😂
And DW calls them Ratatoms as well
They all have different names because "Octoban" is a trademark from Hoshino Gakki, which is the company that owns Tama and Ibanez. Gavin's "log drums" are different because they're 8" diameter instead of 6" and have a reso head instead of being open on the bottom.
I’d call them, “WAHctabons”.
‘We play complicated music’. That is an understatement!
I like how he admits to not knowing some things. Nice humility allows for enquiring minds. Good stuff.
Educated, nice, elegant, never speaks crap.
Should be named SIR Gavin Harrison sooner than later.
Are you listening, Elizabeth !!????
One of the greatest drummers to share our atmosphere. And seems like such a down to earth person. His technique is of another dimension... anybody got more space puns? Although I sincerely mean all of mine lol
Sonor sq2 tribal blue kit looks stunning
Absolute genius of a drummer. He gifts us with his skill & gives freely of his knowledge & I treasure every bit of it. What a bad ass... wish I could afford a kit as beautiful as that SQ2. It'd be a blast to play for sure.
Omg his attention to details ❤️
Bahasa Drum The English phrase is attention to detail, however nothing wrong with details.
Love Gavin .
Nothing he can't do .
Technically off the charts .
Great Feel and Vibe as well .
One of the Greats.
Master drummer! One of my favorites!
that velcro thing on the floor toms is genius.
Thats what I thought. I'm doing it to my kit tonight.
i love his alltime new ideas for the Sonor-Drumset, always creative..12 protean Snare, one of the most lovin n variable snares i play..still one of my Drum-Heros by now..Keep pumpng and wish good Touring. cheers from zurich/ Suisse.!
Does he even age?
Finally a top drummer who doesn't use DW stuff!!
I love this drummer!❤️
I really enjoy listening to him play solos or performing with porcupine tree.🥁
Very talented drummer !!! Enjoy watching him play !!!
Gavin, Exemplo de humildade e musicalidade...👏👏👏👏👏🥁🥁🥁🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Absolutely brilliant kit! Can't wait to hopefully see you on tour.
I saw KC at DPAC Oct. 2017 and it was the most inspirational gig from a drumming standpoint that Ive seen since I saw Peter Erskine about 20 years ago...Gavin is my top drummer for 2018 ! I'm dying to dissect his style and incorporate it...

Gavin has the coolest set-up in drumming history...I'd drop dead if a drum manufacturer would hook me up with custom drums...
Love Gavin!!! A down-to-earth genius who I would be thrilled to meet one day.
Great drummer and cool cat!😎👍
Groove Wedge is the crosstick gadget.
Best kit walk through ive seen 👌
1:35 "A 20 inch floor tom", or as other drummers might call it "a kick pedal"
...also, a small snare and another even smaller one. That's quite an unusual setup!
God I love the tribal finishes - red tribal looks awesome too :)
I love his setup!
Never seen the use of velcro connecting the two floor toms before. Interesting.
great tip with the velcro
I can't believe you didn’t have him hit those drums or cymbals. Would have been nice to hear them.
That was up to Gavin. We're glad you liked it anyway. Thanks for watching! :-)
Excelente !! un crack
sophisticated setting
It's called a "Groove Wedge" made by Yamaha.
Russ Miller’s snare wedge or groove wedge I believe!
Gavin is just amazing. I can't help to wonder how much better he'd sound with Paiste cymbals.
Different sure! Better, mwah... taste
the coolest drum set
The wood rim on the Snare calls groove wedge!
😎👍🇬🇧🥁GAVIN!
i miss porcupine tree..
You can also put a small sand bag to ground the floor tom legs.
Let's hear it!
That bloke used to play drums in the band I was in. When I say 'that bloke', I mean Mr Holmes, who appears in the background at 0:47.
What Hi-Hats Gavin!! You skipped right over those bad boys!! Looks like K-Light Brilliant??
Every drummer who played with King crimson had to follow a standard of excellence and Michael Giles set a high standard
Was hoping to see Pat Mastelottos setup as well :/ Thank you anyways :)
soon!
Awesome!
I d like to know also, please
th-cam.com/video/RAc9HDUbWnk/w-d-xo.html
WOW!! What else can you say??
Man is a genius
Use the 20" k Sweet Crash! Its incredible.
Will Pat's drum set be shown on the channel as referenced in this video?
Always, I wanna know his 5 custom bells size & drum set sizes. 8/10/12/14S/22B/15F/18F, right? really? 15 & 18 floor tom, really? oh... anyway, i like his Gibraltar hardware. I love Gibraltar always. So, Let me know his custom bells size and floor toms.
Gavin, I've seen you twice with Crimson. You, obviously, control the band.
Crimson Kng control is a strong word. He is responsible for writing all parts and rehearsing the drummers in advance of full band rehearsals. The concept, I’m told I “three drummers with one voice”. It’s powerful and amazing. Bruford did the same in the double trio.
Why does this remind me of spinal tap
Shoot Films haha was just about to comment that he really sounds like Nigel from spinal tap! 😂😂
Anybody catch what size hi hats he uses? I kept waiting through the whole video too hear and they skipped over them.
Jim Atyeo I think they're 15"
Thank you.
Jim Atyeo you're more than welcome Jim.
Hi hat?
Looks like 14" K Custom Session Hats (unless they're custom, just looked at a picture of them...)
Thanks Andrew!
Gavin 💓
Call them harribans 🥁
Can anyone tell me if there’s new material/album coming out from them I been waiting for King Crimson’s new stuff for awhile...I heard this from a guy like a year or so ago at a record place where I went and sold some CD’s one day he said that they’re supposed to be having a new album coming out this year and this all came up over a shirt he had hanging up on the wall behind him lol I said “that’s a really nice shirt” he’s like “thanks I been listening to King Crimson for years and years they’re one of my favorite groups they should be coming out with a new album in 2018”
Helps when you’re awesome
He totally skipped over his Hi-Hats!! What are they? K Brilliant something?
Better late then never!! IIRC, those are 14'' K Custom Session Hi-Hats and they sound amazing.
What is that foot pump?, what's the name of it?, does anybody knows?
he doesn't use the hihat Cobra clutch anymore?
Love some Gavin but I can't stomach a band with more than one drummer
Does he purposely not mention the hi hats in his walk throughs??? Lol I feel like every one he skips it. Are these 13” Ks? Or 14s?
❤

Speed Cobra pedals??? Thought he played Axis??
He switched soon after Porcupine Tree disbanded. I think it was around 2012. He was one of the reasons I bought an Axis A double pedal.
do you think he feels silly or badass when he points out his crash of doom?
and that, kids, is what we called EXPERIENCE. Not everybody really has
What kind of cymbal toppers are those?
eita ki hochhe mama? king crimson!!!!!!!!!!
Nice)
Gavin Harrison = Younger Peter Falk? :D
Wow, exactly! Never thought of this, but the similarity is definitely there.
@@dan-andreinafureanu6046 There is a noticeable similarity :)
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL IN ALL ASPECTS.
He put his fingers on his Zildjian ? How shocking.
What heads on the three toms, I didn't catch it, someone did ?
vintage emperor ;)
Merci grandement.
Eeeekk ! Gibraltar hardware and Tama pedals ? Hmm, I don't think Sonor is too happy about that.. 😉
Would the guys in the back mind keeping it down?
C'MON!!!!!....TOM SIZES?BASS DRUM SIZE?
What is his kick size?
Unless he has changed it in the past five years, it’s 22” by 15” (according to another video).
Yeah it used to be 22x17 a while back but I think he uses 22x15 as of recent. Go with a 22x16 and you’ll have the perfect happy medium of Gavin’s kick sound.
I think I see the Mr Zogs stick wax there.
He favors Gene Krupa, maybe it's just a look great drummers have like Louie Bellson but he does resemble Gene Krupa.
Cant hardly see the drums past all the chunky hardware. Awesome rig nonethess
again he forgets to mention what the hihats are.... :) like in all videos on youtube.
Gavin dont know the Bane of the tons besause pearl use "Canon toms" , tama uses "octobans" and another Company maybe using another name.
But gavin´s "little drums" have two drumheads... new type of tons? :p
Jona D good observation Bro. Usually theres no reso head. Maybe for the Air flow "pedal" stuff
before the pedal, gavin uses the "air hose" in david letterman show, he blows the aire of the floor tom, also he plays jaco's the chiken!
Call them octobans
With the great group >>>a great drummer >>>Gavin Harrison ! (friendships ! Gavin ! from FRENCHY SOLO DRUMS >>facebook.com/SOELLBASS/videos/2106207133019453/
It's interesting to see that drummers love SONOR Drums 🥁 but usually play with other brand of Drum Pedals.. 😂😂 Are they os bad? 🤔 🤔 🤔
Try this one (starts around the 10:00 mark) th-cam.com/video/gC9NC2JiS-k/w-d-xo.html&lc=UgwLVGPu7FJochUUZmF4AaABAg
Bye bye PT, hello
Pineapple Thief!
Could they have stopped fuddling about during this?! Jesus!
he has to stop with "sonah". it's ridiculous. it's "son or". it's freakin simple.
He’s British, man.
Just the way we say it it’s not ridiculous-also if u wanna be correct it’s so-nor not Son-or
