Ah, the 90's. Where four guys who look like they belong at different stages of rock 'n' roll time space can come together and make one hell of a catchy song.
The Accursed J.E. Yeah, but the guy always blew that last note at the end of the chorus. But he sounded a lot better here. But kind of like John stamos’ brother in South Park who couldn’t hit the last note
Fantastic song, arrangement, vocals, and so damn melodic. My band Wedge opened for Superdrag at a Chicago street fair (Belmont Avenue) around the time they played this Conan's gig. I hope some / all of these guys are still making music.
I go to church with Tom Pappas, the bass player. He still makes some of his own music, and he is a chanter in our church so he's singing on Sunday too haha.
Dude these guys jam. Regretfully Yours is a straight up power pop masterpiece. A Head Trip in Every Key is idk what but a solid progression in song writing. Loved these dudes since the mid 90s
Thank you for this. Grew up in Knoxville and had the privilege of seeing these guys live a couple times. It's great to revisit some of those old memories.
This song was playing on radio stations, about twenty years ago. And now, I (re)discover this song on the internet. I'm so happy to hear this 90's sound again and again. Thank you to share this video
I don't know if you purchased the CD, but there is a shot in the cover that made me think of The Beatles! From that angle, he was looking away, he looked like John Lennon! Crazy!
I heard this in the 90s, but didn't know who it was. I had this song stuck in my head for 20 years wondering who it was. and thank God for Shazam I heard it at a mall and finally got relief
I'm not sure which fate is worse; become one hit wonders playing the same song to eat or die from a heroin overdose before you can see the success of a song you wrote
+logan matthews the irony is they stopped playing sucked out in 2000. it only popped back up again in 2007 when they did a brief reunion. their records stand on their own, this is nowhere near their greatest.
+Dewey Cole They played it in Atlanta in '02. I took a coworker to see them and Guided by Voices and she didn't seem to recognize them until they played this song and went "Oh those guys!"
I still have film of backstage that night... see me standing in the cage in the back for a quarter of a second? Chuck Norris and the guy from 30something was on that night... ❤
Hey Dewey, do you happen to have their appearance on On Tour? I have it on VHS still but my VCR was messed up at the time and the audio is warbly up until the chorus of Sucked Out and I've been looking for an upgrade but no one seems to have it. Thanks.
You know, I’ve never thought about that - but reading your comment really clicked for me. It’s totally true, along with the dozens of other “The ______’s” bands that popped up after The Strokes did. My only question is, why did The Strokes get so big and these guys didn’t..? Only thing I can think of is maybe the timing... Superdrag = mid to late 90’s The Strokes = early to mid 00’s
Ah, the 90's. Where four guys who look like they belong at different stages of rock 'n' roll time space can come together and make one hell of a catchy song.
LMAO, SO TRUE - 2018 STILL SEARCHING FOR THIS SONG... HAD TO REMEMBER THE LYRICS, LUCKILY I FOUND THIS CLIP
Perfectly put! 😂
Well said. The 90s had a little 60s in them. I loved my dad’s music from the 60s and he loved 90s music too!! Says it all.
The Accursed J.E. Yeah, but the guy always blew that last note at the end of the chorus. But he sounded a lot better here. But kind of like John stamos’ brother in South Park who couldn’t hit the last note
Devan Safer no he didn't. it's obviously a purposeful choice.
“Look at me, I can write a melody, but I can’t expect a soul to care” John Davis is a unsung genius.
Very underrated song. One of my favorite hits of the 90s.
Definitely
That's what makes it cool. Like you know something others don't...
Still can’t believe these guys didn’t make it huge. Such an underrated song.
I can
@@DastardSilvergun whys that?
Probably cuz they’re closer to the cars than to the grunge stuff that was big then. They could have been bigger post the Strokes
This is certainly a forgotten gem of 1990s alternative!
Forgotten by those with bad tastes maybe! Not moi!
The bass player somehow looks like a member of At the Drive In, KISS, and The Cure all at the same time.
The bassist is the great Senator Tom Pappas!
or the Mats
Exactly!!!!
Your right. It has sure changed a lot since the 90s.
You forgot MC 5. 😅
one of the greatest power pop songs of all time! good band though too, their 2nd album ruled too!
thats whats up, head trip in every key. hip the kids to that. it cooks
Fantastic song, arrangement, vocals, and so damn melodic. My band Wedge opened for Superdrag at a Chicago street fair (Belmont Avenue) around the time they played this Conan's gig. I hope some / all of these guys are still making music.
What a great period of my life that was
Check out the Lees of Memory. Also they just played a street festival in Knoxville with the og lineup and are writing new stuff!!!
I go to church with Tom Pappas, the bass player. He still makes some of his own music, and he is a chanter in our church so he's singing on Sunday too haha.
Just saw them last night at The Subterranean in Chicago and they were excellent!
Bass player and drummer are absolute units!
The dude with the afro goes to my church and chants in our choir now, no joke.
Tom pappas
Hello fellow St Johns attender lol.
Conan always had the coolest musical guests
literally discoveringg this band rn, and im in love already
Dude these guys jam. Regretfully Yours is a straight up power pop masterpiece. A Head Trip in Every Key is idk what but a solid progression in song writing. Loved these dudes since the mid 90s
Sorry, this was it for them.
Quite possibly my favorite song of all time. Glad I recorded the music vid off TV in the 90's
John Davis is a great song writer.
+Steve Z John just put out another album with a band called The Lees of Memory. He wrote every song. Checked it out if you haven't heard of it yet.
I saw these guys in an underground venue here in Austin, Texas in '96! They kicked ass!!!
This song still dick-punches Top 40.
I just found out about it 26 years later and it's fucking sick
I've always loved that Don just looks like he walked out of Kohl's.
singing over a bass solo. love it.
You can see the lead singer's influence on Paul McCartney.
Check out John and Brandon's new band - The Lees of Memory.... And Tom's band - The Tom Pappas Collection.
I saw Superdrag open for Echobelly at the Roxy in West Hollywood California. Both bands were awesome!
Thank you for this. Grew up in Knoxville and had the privilege of seeing these guys live a couple times. It's great to revisit some of those old memories.
So good! Keep coming back to this..
This live version is better than the studio version. Such a great song
Nice job on the bass there Tom!
I was in year 5 when I bought my first cassette tape. Still listening to them today, 14 May 2021 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
they look so ahead of their time! dudes like this paved the way for the post punk revival look that dominated the 2000s for sure
they were right on time really
great album- every tune. Saw them in Boston too- the Paradise- they were great live
This song was playing on radio stations, about twenty years ago. And now, I (re)discover this song on the internet. I'm so happy to hear this 90's sound again and again. Thank you to share this video
Sadly when you youtube search 90s Rock, only the trash shows up.
My first concert after finishing my tour in the military. A great start to coming back home! They kicked ass live!
Looks like a young Paul McCartney.
If you're talking about singer John Davis, then, yes I picked up on that one at the time!
I don't know if you purchased the CD, but there is a shot in the cover that made me think of The Beatles! From that angle, he was looking away, he looked like John Lennon! Crazy!
I think it's the hair
Pretty sure he did that on purpose. Even the way he bows at the end lol
Still loving this band one of my favourite band Superdrag missing this guys hope for reunion..
The band just announced a reunion. Check it out!
Singer reminds me of the one dude from "That Thing You Do"
He'd probably take that as a compliment.
Saw them play with Weezer at the Palace in LA. ahhhhh the good ol days!!!!
They are so Weezer.
I heard this in the 90s, but didn't know who it was. I had this song stuck in my head for 20 years wondering who it was. and thank God for Shazam I heard it at a mall and finally got relief
When I worked at a record store I used to tell the kids that this is Jonathan Davis from before he was in Korn. Kids are dumb.
You mean it ISN'T Jonathan Davis?
its criminal the music video isn't on youtube
I've been looking for this song forever.
my god great band great band.. im listening to papas sice i was 15 in mexico
such a great tune!
Saw them in '96 at Fletcher's in B'more. It's where I officially met the love of my life. Still love him and them
This track brings back a lot of good memories (I was 12 when this aired).
Chris Farley is KILLIN' IT on the drums.
lol omg
That's the big brother from Wonder Years.
I miss this band so much!
I love this song. I came across it during my rock music phase in 2021. I was in 7th grade. Beautiful 😂
Really surprised this band didn't get bigger :/
What a gem from the 90's
2:42 - typical John!
Positively awesome....
Saw them years ago Newport ky Southgate house great band!
For more than 2 decades I thought this band was British!🙃
Can’t find the original music video anywhere.
I haven't seen it in over 10 years..I used to watch it a few times a day in '96… no idea where to find it now
I'm not sure which fate is worse; become one hit wonders playing the same song to eat or die from a heroin overdose before you can see the success of a song you wrote
You're clueless, two great records, two more decent ones, loyal & rapid fan base, sorry you missed out.
Logan you r clueless.
Don't wimp out like that, man. Sad to see.
If you've ever been in a band you can hear all the truths in these lyrics.
Luv this song
Holy shit! I didn't realize John Daly played drums before turning to pro golf.
with Paul McCartney no less
YES!!! Thank you poster person
Took a weezer lick and made it even funner
Exactly like the record
Has an Elvis Costello vibe
Definitely
I feel like Superdrag helped influence some of the bands that came in the early/mid 2000's like Louis XIV or The Strokes
I'm sure they did. I know they were an enormous influence on me. But damn, what an amazing band.
Still a great track
I know John Davis I’m from Knoxville Tn, he is a really cool guy! He does Christian music now.
In the end I found this song ! 😅🤘🏻
"we did a couple shows out there"
Goddammit, this is so good.
This was my dream played out rocking routine
John Davis is honestly my hero
Two SGs!!!!! #winning
I miss this song very nice rock on 🤘
Yes. 90s Conan and great band get him
Always wondered what became of Damien Thorn.
I still have film of backstage that night... see me standing in the cage in the back for a quarter of a second?
Chuck Norris and the guy from 30something was on that night... ❤
Whats up with that drummers shirt tho?
+chisoxfan708 Its an homage to the Beach Boys obviously.
Its very 90s of him
+chisoxfan708 The Beach Boys were very trendy back then.
mistook the Blue Album album cover as a fashion catalogue
Definitely a beach boys homage.
is that mod target pin on John Davis' lapel? cool.
Remember when network latenight didn't suck thanks hope this helps have a Great weekend all 👌
Damn dude looks like Marc Bolan. I saw them as a big fan back in the 90s just now noticing.
2024!
That’s a Real Singer at His Best!
Can’t believe I found this! Whatever happened to these guys!?!?
Hix Nada still rockin in Knoxville in different bands
Too many "Super _______ " band names back then - we all got tired at some point, LOL...
Great vid.
Ah, two things I love together.
Super drag is what I’m going to call my autobiography
Album is actually pretty good. thought only this song would be good but there's a few on there
At 2:22 it goes into the stratosphere...!
Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irvin is freakin lighting it up on the kit!
Brian I was going to go with Chris Farley, but I’ll allow it.
Sometimes it takes until the last 20 seconds of a song to get comfortable
I love this song while not liking everyone except the drummer. Great tune.
Great!!
How does the vocalist make his eyebrows into a "V" shape?
Hey Dewey, do you happen to have their appearance on On Tour? I have it on VHS still but my VCR was messed up at the time and the audio is warbly up until the chorus of Sucked Out and I've been looking for an upgrade but no one seems to have it. Thanks.
I think we can thank these guys for the sound The Strokes gave us.
Superdrag = mid to late 90’s
The Strokes = early to mid 00’s
Knoxville had a great music scene then- Superdrag and the V-Roys were my two favorite bands from there.
Don't forget the Rude Street Peters
He kinda reminds me of Trent reznar
Howard Stern on bass lol
This was a Superdrag.
The drummer miseed the dress code. . . Or he just had to rush over after work.
Still amazing!
Very Top...
