Can you please explain how exactly that the solar return chart can be used 1 to 2 months before your actual birthday? How is that? I'ts about the yearly energy winding down. You generally use Solar Return Charts for forecasting and usually you forecast about 12 months ahead, so it makes sense to be aware of the shift in energy of a new Solar Return Chart and its potentials coming into play shortly. ⭐️

My solar return is in my natal chart sun in Cancerean.13degree58. The moon in scorpio solar virgo.
These solar return charts are definitely very subtle. My natal Sun is in the first house of the Solar Return chart (March 14, 2019), but my relocated Sun is in the second house of the Solar return chart. The only angular planets in my natal chart are Venus, Neptune, and the Sun.
On the other hand, in my relocated chart Saturn, Pluto and Venus are angular in the first house, and Mars is angular in the fourth house.
This is complicated by the fact that my natal Ascendant in the Solar Return chart is Aquarius, but my relocated Ascendant is in Capricorn conjunct my Solar Return Saturn. It is further complicated by the fact that on my birthday I will be about 3 hours away, with Capricorn rising, Venus in the first house, Sun in the second house and Mars in the fourth house.
Subtle, subtle, subtle!
Very interesting combinations you have. Remember to cast your solar return chart for the place where you were on your birthday. The Sun will be in the exact same position as in your natal chart (and your relocated chart). In a way, a general relocated chart will be moot when casting a solar return chart. Your exact natal Sun position is what a solar return chart hinges on. Where you are at the time of the solar return is important, rather than the place where you were born or have since relocated to.

If you don't mind, I'd appreciate your opinion on couple of questions. 1) Would you recommend any particular chart interpretation software for Solar Return and Lunar Return. The two I use right now like a hit or miss, I mean the comparison of the cusps of natal and solar/lunar houses, a lot of times, incorrect. I currently have Solar Return interpretation by H. Valsecia and Lunar Return interpretation by H. Valsecia. I purchased them to compliment my Kepler 7. Very sad. 2) You've mentioned, you are using Ptolemy house system, may I ask why do you prefer it to Koch house system? Thank you again Alison!
I use Solar Fire for PC and Astro Gold (iPad app) to calculate my charts. Solar Fire has good solar return interpretations for beginners. I recommend the book on Solar Returns by Mary Shea about solar returns if you are just starting out. I'll put a link to this book below this video soon.

Hello Alison, thank you for posting these wonderful videos. I have a question, if I may. I know it has been asked before, but there seems to be confusion. On the Astro-seek website in the section for calculating the Solar Return there is a place to enter your Birth City and underneath a place for City for Solar Return. Seems clear enough and self-explanatory. Except…that I have heard and read that it is common practise to enter the city you live in for both cases in the event that you have moved and plan to spend your birthday there. So for example if I was born in London, but emigrated to Vancouver, then I would use Vancouver for both the Birth City and the City for Solar Return. Seems weird, but that’s what I was told to do by a practising astrologer. I have also read that some people would recommend using London for both, or of course London for birth and Vancouver for City of Solar Return. I played around with all the options and of course it makes a difference to the final chart. What would you recommend? Thank you very much. Alms
I am unfamiliar with the astro seek website. First you calculate the birth chart to get the Sun's position (this never changes), then you calculate the solar return chart for the place you are on your birthday (this may change each year). I use the app Astro Gold which may help you to calculate your solar return charts. ⭐️

If your south node is in your 2nd house you may have taken a "Vow of poverty," either in this lifetime or a past life. Create a positive affirmation to free yourself of financial lack and say it every morning. It may help. ⭐️

Mine is in the 9th house
What does it mean if my houses in my Solar Return chart almost EXACTLY line up with the Houses in my natal chart? (Only off by 2 degrees! So, 1st house cusp in natal chart is only 2 degrees past 1st house cusp in my solar return chart. And so on and so forth for all the houses. My Ascendant this year is the same as my natal AC as well.)
Not sure if that means anything, but it seemed strange, or almost...cyclical? As in, finishing a cycle? Idk. Would love your expertise on this! Thank you for the wonderful video.💕
This can almost seem like coincidence. The most important thing is the placement of the Sun in the solar return houses. That the solar return ascendant lines up with you natal ascendant will reinforce the solar return chart to your natal chart. The themes present in you natal chart will likely be more in focus this year.
Carefully check which house in your natal chart the solar return ascendant falls, first or twelfth. This will help you analyze the meaning of this solar return chart for the year.

Ahh, it's in the 12th house! (Sun still in the 8th house.) That explains a lot!😂 Haha (I feel like I've been healing the past and karma of my life, my past lives, AND all of my ancestors, all AT THE SAME TIME. Huge past wounds coming to the surface from prior lives. Esp my natal Mars in the 12th house-- my hidden anger, drive, etc. Oh, it's out there now. Lol Pandora jumped out of that box like chaos!😂 At least I can laugh about it now. I mean, us Libra south nodes have a lot of hidden anger lol.) In the SR chart, Mars is now in the beginning of the 8th house. Hmm...
Also in my 12th house in the solar return chart, Saturn, Pluto and the South Node are in Cap; and of those three, Pluto is conjunct my natal Mars by a 5° orb. (Pluto at 20°, my natal Mars at 25°.) SR Ascendant at 10° Aquarius (vs my natal AC, which is 12° Aquarius.)
Also just learned about lunation cycles in progressed charts-- and my next one coming up is New Moon in Scorpio, and guess when it's happening for me? JAN 2020. 🤦🏻♀️😂I'm sure as an astrologer that date is already engrained into your mind because of another very famous event taking place then too! Haha oh goodie, let's see how those play together!

I know this is an old video so I hope I can get a response. My solar return this year has the 10th house on the ascendant. My natal sun is in the tenth house, but my sun will be conjunct the north node and will end up falling in the 12th house ( 6 degrees away) I was wondering if you had any resources on how to interpret this? I suppose you might call it a darkside interpretation. Thank you for any help you can give me!

Do we actually HAVE TO TRAVEL or can we put in the location in the chart to see what the resulting chart would look like? For example... I live in Iowa. Lets say I put in washington state or new Zealand instead of iowa for my solar return chart... Will it be the same result as if I had actually travelled to Washington or new zealand? Or do we physically have to travel?
You have to travel. You have to inhale the universal potentials of the new place. ⭐️
As an astrologer I can say that SR charts are about 50 % accurate. It's like a coin toss.

Yes, you cast your solar return chart each year on your birthday. Every year you have a new solar return chart. You may need astrology software to do this. I recommend the Astro Gold app for iPhone. Or you can get your astrologer to cast the chart for you. I hope this helps. ⭐️
Question, I think I am correct but would like your expertise... when I generate my solar return chart, and I see birth planets vs. solar planets... does that mean birth planet (where it was at birth) vs solar planet (where it is going to be at, at the time of the solar return)? And what impact do those outer solar planets play? I ask because for example I see Saturn in the 3rd Aquarius when I pull solar only chart, but when I pull solar x birth it shows me a transiting Saturn in the 8th. I am not sure. I understand this discrepancy and google has proven confusing :) are you able to explain?
Saturn is transiting your 8th house. That is the main energy for now, unless Saturn is in aspect to the Sun in the solar return chart as then it become part of the solar return main complex where the focus is on the Sun. Look at both charts, the solar return chart for the year ahead solar wise, and the bi-wheel (natal inner wheel - solar return outer wheel) for general transits unfolding. I hope that helps. ⭐️

When is your birthday? If your birthday occurs one month before or after today, then cast a chart for this year, but if you birthday is not happening in the next 30 days, then use last year's solar return chart. Thanks for watching. ⭐️

I’m a June 5th Gemini Sun, Aries moon, Gemini Mercury, Cancer Venus, Cancer Mars, and Gemini north node. This year on my birthday it is my SOLAR, LUNAR, MERCURY, VENUS, MARS, AND NODE return. How big of a deal is this? 😂
Can you clarify the year you would put for the solar return? So my bday is in November. If I’m trying to cast for my next year should I put 2020 the current year or 2021?

So, in your solar return chart Chiron is at 0 degrees Aries. Chiron is at this place for everyone as that is where Chiron is during 2019. Unless Chiron makes a Ptolemaic aspect to the Sun in your solar return chart you should be okay on the healing side. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. ⭐️

I hope I'm not misinterpreting this astrologer's statement about changing one's location to affect different influences. But I recall reading that one can do that as long as you STAY in the new
location. If you go for a vacation in a different location than your usual one then return to your permanent place of residence the chart taken in the new location will not work for you will be
under the influence of the chart that applies for where you are all year!
If anyone out there has tried this experiment I would like to know what results they experienced if in fact they changed locations temporarily merely to effect a change in possibilities then
returned that same year to their usual place of residence and noticed any difference.

Your annual solar return chart is cast for the place you are at the specific time of the solar return to the degree and minute. So, for example, if the Sun was just below the ascendant at your solar return it will be in the first house.
If you subsequently move elsewhere, you do not recast the solar return chart to suit the new place as this would move the Sun, perhaps into the twelfth house as in our example.
You breathe in the potentials of the universe at the exact time of your solar return, this includes the Sun's house and aspects, and these solar energies remain valid for the next twelve months. Each solar return will only last for one year and it is a fleeting snapshot of your life.
You comment is valid for relocation charts. We know that your natal chart is erected for the place you were born and stays with you for your whole life. However, if you choose to cast a relocation chart, for a new city that you have moved to and are now living in, that chart can be a valuable chart for interpretation and the experiences in your new city, although you will always refer back to your birth chart regardless. Your birth chart is like the mothership, if you like, of your life.

Yes, this is a great technique, I'd spent at least couple of days prior to my birthday and couple after in desired location. And I have to say I'm very impressed by Alison presentation. She's a true professional.
Hello, me again. And presumably if you change your birth city, and it is in a different time zone, then the difference between time zones would need to be factored into the actual time of birth. Or am I getting confused? :)
Your astrology app (like Astro Gold) will do the calculations for you and you do not have to factor in anything. I hope this helps. ⭐️
Hello Alison, thank you for taking the time to address my question. I downloaded the Astro Gold software. It’s great. Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately I am still confused. How to enter the data is clear. Where to enter it is clear. And no doubt which city to put into the city of solar return. However my astrology teacher is adamant if a person relocates to a different country, then the birth chart has to also be adjusted to take this into consideration. You mentioned that the Sun always has to be in the same place, and this never changes. I noticed that if I did a birth chart for Manchester, and then change the location to Vienna with the same birth time, then the Sun indeed is in the same place. And this is what my teacher is asking me to do. The biggest change it makes is the distribution of houses. I’ve seen on the Internet that my teacher isn’t the only person suggesting this, which is awfully confusing, because it seems a very fundamental thing. It’s not easy to tell your teacher you don’t agree with him, especially as I’m just starting out. I would really appreciate your view now that my question is clearer.Many thanks. Alms
Hi Alms, I disagree that if you move to a different city your birth chart changes, this is known as Relocation Astrology, which has its place, but not in solar return charts.
Unfortunately, if you are continuing to have disagreements with you teacher that in itself raises more questions than answers.
