    I was just checking this exact boat out a few weeks ago at my local (kind of) Bass Pro. They look very well built, have a great price, and... things like that front bow eye, and the placement of other components are done right.
    For instance, the old tracker topper 1436 had wood on the exterior of the transom. No way I would even consider buying that for fresh or especially not saltwater like I fish.
    That 9.9 should be about perfect for it. I only have a 9.8 and it pushed me (220 lbs), my son (90lbs), my daughter (90lbs), and trolling motor/100AH lithium, and gear at 18 to 19 mph without struggle. Just me in there is up towards the mid 20s. With the 9.9, you will always have the option to remove the intake restrictor plate and a new ECU ($250 or so) and bump it to a 20hp motor. All components are the same except the restrictor plate, software in the ECU, and the prop pitch. Bonus, you will still be able to get into hp restricted reservoirs then too. However, you will be able to hit 35mph once you get that prop pitch adjusted. I cannot do that route myself with the 9.8 but it is an option for you with the 9.9. lol
    I am currently building out my Alumacraft 1436LT. Turns out that adding aluminum flooring and casting decks is way easier that I would have thought. Light too! I just got metal cutting blades for my jigsaw and chop saw. Makes quick work. I am doing rivets and rivnuts. Rivnuts going in to where I can remove all decking every few years and clean/inspect/and spray back down with fluid film. Rivets going in where I need strength. Countersink rivets going in only on the metal casting deck since they sit flush with the metal surface.
    I am going to have a mini shallow water skiff that has gator glide epoxy on the outer hull. I will not fret one bit when sliding it over oyster bars or sand bars to get to the good stuff. Aluminum holds up better than glass for this. Plus, I only paid $500 for the hull and am maybe $1,500 into adding metal, paint, epoxy, electrical/lights, etc.

      sounds like you will end up with a nice salt water alum- skiff ! yes sir... no more wood in the transom on the trackers. and the old was were riveted , the new ones are all weld....

    FYI the interior sponsons only help with floatation if the boat goes under water. They are filled with foam
    People will think it makes the boat float better... It doesn't unless they are exterior sponsons
    They just keep it from sinking.
    Thanks for an the great content Ty!

      I think you are right... another guy said they also support the transom. which makes a lot of sense

  • @WhitePerch
    @WhitePerch 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You might want to move the trailer jack to the other side of the trailer
    It would make it easier to access the handle if it’s on the driver’s side
    (Instead of walking over the trailer when you raise or lower the trailer on the hitch)
    Nice simple setup. Good luck

    Great review. Sounds like a solid boat. Looks like the boat hangs off the back of the trailer a few inches. What’s the total length of the boat and trailer, tongue to transom (without the motor). I’ve got limited storage space, so inches matter. Thanks for the help.

      not sure. boat is 14' . id add 2' for motor and 4' for trailer hitch.

    It's nice that they've finally gotten away from riveted jon boats. Those pods in the back aren't designed for flotation at all. There's more than enough foam under the seats to keep it from sinking. Tracker put those pods in to help stabilize their weak transom. Before this design, they used a knee brace from the floor to the transom but constantly had problems with cracks in the aluminum from the torque of an outboard. Tracker is the only jon boat that I'm aware of that doesn't have full ribs that go up each side to help brace things on the inside. If you notice the floor flexing if you hit a wave, this is why. Maybe welding over riveting fixed most of these problems, but only time will tell.

    I think I'm gonna go with this boat vs saving a little longer for the 1648 grizzly. I am a little concerned about such a small boat and two 200+ lb guys fishing but MOST of the time it will just be me and one or two of my kids. I have bow mount trolling motor with a foot pedal I got for cheap. Do you think it would work on this boat with a mount? I was gonna put a seat on the front bench and put the pedal in the floor.

      I weigh 180. My wife is 140. It's perfect. I would keep it right about there. Two guys under 200 would be fine.

    How does your new boat compared to a solo?

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      solo skiff is a killer rig for one gut. but for one guy only. 14' John fishes two folks with way more area and aluminum is lighter than plastic.

    I bought one, its an aluminum boat, nothing special. There is one thing that is different from the other major brands. The drain plug, the darn thing is not in the bottom. Its above the V and ¼” higher than that. Might not sound like a big deal until you try to rinse the mud a grime out. It is so aggravating that I wish I would have given $100 more for one of the others. Oh yea, the paint is awful to. Can almost be scratched with fingernails.

    • @30mofishing
      @30mofishing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      man i love mine for the type of fishing we do but i got to say you are correct on the drain hole. its a bit high. i have to prop mine up on a step ladder 3' high to get it to drain. still have to use a sponge. but still love the boats overall performance.

      @RRR-hj6bt 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@30mofishing Oh yea, I have a great time with mine also. Just caught me at a bad time fresh off sponging up 4 gallons or so of water that wouldnt drain. not worth taking the outboard and fishfinder off to prop it up
