I love the respect between Enho and Ura. Long may they both continue fighting and - perhaps? - see one or the other playing a few tricks in the Top Division? Thanks Chris, great dive.
Takayasu has shown the best sumo I have seen in a while. Incredible how he keeps balance and deflects everything terunofuji throws at him. I could see some of Kisenosato in this bout... Terunofujis sumo somewhat relies on bullying the other wrestler, either mentally or with his insane strength. Takayasu however is strong enough to not be bullied and this time he also shows great mental fortitude.
You said exactly what i have thought about Terunofuji, he is kind of a bully and he does not even care about others, he even throws them merciless (as when he injured Asanoyama) still i like him, very fun to watch
Takayasu was awesome today. I thought he was finished when he reached lower Maegashira, but he's proven me wrong, and is beginning to look like the Takayasu of old.
How can the Yokozuna retire when the current Ozekis are disappointing so far? Good thing Terunofuji will surely be promoted to bring back order and hoping Takayasu follows suit along with a first Yusho.
Nice to see a variety of violent competitive efforts. Hoktofuji with his fighting spirit, Dieisho (sp), Takayasu, Takakeisho, even Ichinojo and others all putting the hard work in. A better basho than expected so far.
I'm from the US where Sumo is unknown. I found my first video because of my general admiration for Martial Arts. What got me to subscribe was the narrators eloquent passion describing these amazing athletes. I don't know all the terms yet because I don't speak Japanese, but I am learning. Thank you for sharing such an interesting sport!
The fated battle between *MEN* . I'm SO SO SO happy they both respect each other and had a good match with no hard feelings. You love to see it. Bring on the division one version please!
Started watching your channel yesterday knowing absolutely nothing about Sumo whatsoever. Now I'm a huge Enho fanboy and fervently hoping for a grand Hakuho comeback in the summer. Props for an excellent channel (the Jack Slack of Sumo?)
I really want to see Takayasu win this basho. He's a new father and still hasn't seen his daughter afaik, and to come home with the yusho would be incredible for him and I would be so happy.
Hi Chris I’m trying to find that video you did with the statements of the newly promoted Ozeki and the meaning of them. I watched it some time and I wanna see it again in view of the potential forthcoming promotion of Terunofuji Many thanks
I love how you analyse the bouts but am always left wondering if the wrestlers really out so much thought in it, if it's not more instinct that takes over.
Thanks Chris. Great comments as usual. I must say, from the replay, Enho did seemed to hit the ground at the same time as his rival....I think a torianoshi would have been a better outcome. Cheers everyone
Con el color de la arena cambia de personages y de historia Si es seca y amarillenta crea historia de lugares andaluces del romanico por ser mas seco que Cataluña La arena o tierra en el sumo es super importante ...
Not sure why Chris keeps saying Terunofuji needs only 9 wins to be promoted to Ozeki. Nobody has EVER been promoted to Ozeki after a 9-win basho, except way back in the 1930's when there were only 11 days in each basho. Has the promotion committee already stated that 9 wins would be enough? If so, that is history-making.
The oft mention standard for a sekiwaki is 33 wins over three straight basho. Other commenters have said he needs 10 wins, so we have to see what the elders decide. Given the recent poor performance of the current parking, they may want someone at that level who is at least consistent.
@@MrB68S No, 10 wins in all three is not a must. People have been promoted with 9 wins in the first basho. But never with 9 wins in the last basho. Also, "33" is just a guideline, not at all a rule. People have been promoted with 28! And people have been denied promotion with 34 and 35! I did a complete study of Ozeki promotions, but TH-cam deleted my link. Hmm.
Things are not the same without the Yokozuna, the Ozeki 's sumo are all not up to standard. The Sanyaku level seems to lose their luster some what and the lower rank winning the basho is still a thing.
I have no doubt he has the potential, but it is hard to look at Asanoyama as a future Yokozuna when you see him get dominated so completely. No trickery or sidestep move.. the man just walked right through him. 🤦🏻♂️
En un pabellón templo donde se practique el sumo aconsejo tener unos sacos con arenas de barios tipos de colores . Se aspira se guarda y cambias el color oara combates diferentes
Only weapon Takayasu uses unlike any other well known wrestlers, is His Super Tight Mawashi, so in reasonable timeframe of bout no one can penetrate with fingers into his mawashi to make a hold, so any wrestler with traditional style of sumo has very low success rate against him, unlike very high success of pushers who dominate him. Though it is not against rule, but I find it not very honest way of wrestling, in Mongolian national wrestling some wrestlers uses such techniques so denying any hold to opponent but having hold on others'.
Good analysis. As I see it after 10 years of watching the sport. Sadly, the interest level for me has waned, the only fighter with any carisma is the juro Prince Enho. None of the top division lads are Yokozuna worthy. Seems like the spectacles are merely about 2 fat men shoving each other. I suppose the the days when Hakuho, Kino and Haramafuji ruled the roost are gone for good. Tero is too prone to injuries to sustain and Takakeisho, Asano.and Shodai flip flopping around the competitive scene. What's need is a Tyson. a Jordan, a Brady or Manny Pacqiuio to bring some charismatic interesting aspect to the arena. PEACE out regardless.

Definitely! I'm also hoping that this is just the beginning of a long and exciting rivalry fought between these two.
Ura and Enho, sportsmanship at his best
I like when Ura talked about Enho's presence as a little man in sumo is its own type of scary
My two favs

Terunofuji v Takayasu was some real ozeki level wrestling right there
I'm so glad we finally got to see ura v enho.
Takayasu was awesome today. I thought he was finished when he reached lower Maegashira, but he's proven me wrong, and is beginning to look like the Takayasu of old.
When Takayasu got that inside right clear through to the other side of the belt, I knew it was over for Terunofuji.
Every day I think, THAT was the best reporting Chris has EVER done ....
....then I say the same thing the next day ... :)
Thank you so much for this video.
I love the work you put into post matches. Great work! Sucks that Hakuho had to do surgery again. Hoping for a full recovery!

Specular commentary for spectacular matches. Thanks Chris!

I love Ura’s salt throw 😂
Ikr! Is like 3 grains if hes lucky :P
1:28 XD
Ura vs Terutsuyoshi would be quite the contrast
He’s like a salt shaker in a sauna.
Seasoning the dohyo for a good fight :D
Can't wait for the post-tournament high-definition marathon! You're the best, Mr. Chris!
I so enjoyed the Ura-Enho bout, and what great guys they both are.
Enho said, 'Oh shit!'
PLEASE tell me this is what he actually said. I need to know.
Probably lol
The most amazing thing going on in sumo right now is Takayasu's 9 wins in the last 10 bouts against Terunofuji!
thanks Chris, fantastic commentary, very informative and equally entertaining. .
The fated battle between *MEN* . I'm SO SO SO happy they both respect each other and had a good match with no hard feelings. You love to see it. Bring on the division one version please!
Takayasu's fighting onosho tomorrow. That sounds really exciting
I really enjoy these clips, man. Very well written. Liked your hakuho one, as well. You're very compelling.
Your commentary changes my experience watching sumo! Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Asanoyama got destroyeeeed damn
Nice hearing all the good words from both men. (Juryo)
Thank You Chris.

Yes. I would love to see him win, too.
Dedicate it to Kisenosato.
Hi Chris
I’m trying to find that video you did with the statements of the newly promoted Ozeki and the meaning of them. I watched it some time and I wanna see it again in view of the potential forthcoming promotion of Terunofuji
Many thanks
Thanks for the detailed report
Chris THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Yo wait Chiyomaru has to walk in his mawashi to the kokugikan???
Daieisho's win over Asanoyama was incredible.
Toothless structure...
Go on Chris! Take them to task!
I have never seen so many cracks in the dokio. Is that normal???
Two great matches, I’m glad I’m getting a chance to see takayasu at ozeki level
I miss watching Enho in the top division.
I'm really routing for Takayasu!
Unfortunate that the best sumo isn’t coming from current Ozeki. It’s the real reason the Yokozuna won’t quit, we barely have proper Ozeki
I love how you analyse the bouts but am always left wondering if the wrestlers really out so much thought in it, if it's not more instinct that takes over.
Ah, but it takes years of thought to create that kind of instinct! Another great video, Chris; thank you.
Thanks Chris. Great comments as usual. I must say, from the replay, Enho did seemed to hit the ground at the same time as his rival....I think a torianoshi would have been a better outcome. Cheers everyone
As for Hakuho, you don't undergo "a-scope surgery" for fluid. You have it drained with a needle. Big difference.
Fingers crossed for a Takayasu yusho!

@@brownro214 I'm pretty sure 33 doesn't mean 14-11-8 or smething like that. I believe 10 wins is a must in each of the three totalling 33.

I almost always root for massive blubber. The bigger the better.

6-2 on the 8th day is disappointing? Takayasu's strengths over him are well known after all.
