VICE Japan caught up with Masaya Kudo, a Japanese Right-Wing activist and leader of his nationalist own group, "Nihon-no-Kai," as he explained his philosophies and concerns regarding the Right-Wing movement today and its ties to the Yakuza.
VICE These are actually all Yakuza, hence the tattoos, their collaboration with Yakuza from other territories and the name of their organisation "Dai Nippon Issei-kai". The ending -kai is the traditional ending attached to the criminal Yakuza groups. The name in front of -kai is usually either that of the territory or the leader. In this case the name has national(ist) connotations, the organisation could well be a collaboration of several Yakuza groups.
+A kid from Africa I agree with you, because they are like The KKK being how these Ultranationalist use that flag from WW2, The Klan uses The Confederate Flag and both groups lie abut the history of both The Civil War and WW2.
lol japanese cops are so adorable, measuring the sound levels of the vans before arresting these guys instead of just using their ears to determine if its's too loud
The noise law is based on a decibel limit. Stay under the limit and you're good. Unfortunately humans aren't the best at accurately measuring exact decibel values with their ears alone. You must think traffic cops are adorable for using speed meters instead of just looking at how fast someone is driving.
a. it's absurd to assume that a chinese speaker would only be there to loot bodies b. discounting his obvious bias i still wouldn't take that claim at face value c. they're bodies, it's not like they have feelings or whatever. either way it's an offense that doesn't really merit summary execution
+Paul Staker Also that story where they were hunting for chinese people in order to kill them. Since they were robbing the dead, you know. And btw lads, Xenophobia is not exactly racism but it's pretty damn close and just as despicable. So shut the fuck up Jessie Tanner.
It's not really a Russian military occupation, it's more Japan lost in 1945, the Russian's took Sakhalin Oblast during their march toward Japan. The islands didn't actually "belong" to Japan, back in 1875 Japan signed an agreement to give up control of Sakhalin to the Russians in exchange for Kuril Islands. In 1945 the Japanese were in no position to be bargaining to the Russians about what they wanted to own.
Disgusting whitewash. Correct translation for this part: 9:14 start " *In Shinomaki city, WE HEARD that the Chinese were cutting off fingers and looting rings, watches (personal belonging of precious metal value). We couldn't let this pass.* " This is totally different from "In Ishinomaki city, the Chinese were looting dead bodies" because the correct translation would be "We heard that this happened..." aka a RUMOR. The translation were making it sound the latter statement seem like a fact when it was not. It is a rumor that leaked from their circle that leaked into their group. [This part is identical to the Vice translation]So we formed the Disaster Area Safety Patrol. At first we armed with iron pipes, peppers sprays and tasers. But it was pointless since the rubble was full of potential weapons like pipes and golf clubs. We would go into the most dangerous areas and there wasn't a single police officer in sight. When we patrolled at night, we would greey the passersby. If they didn't respond, we'd try to strike up a conversation. And if they spoke Chinese, we were to kill them there and then.[/End identical trancript] *If we buried them in the rubble, then nobody would know. But in the end, we didn't see any Chinese people*
I'm Japanese and I noticed this too. The correct translation is "as a end result we didn't find any (Chinese)" - These guys are def racist, don't let them speak for the rest of Japan.
Yep, it's not great... I think their true intentions will fly over a lot of people's heads because of poor translation. They are obviously extremely racist towards the Chinese.
>The real transcript never said "Thankfully, it never came to that". I 100% agree with you. They did not say "thankfully," but rather they miss the "opportunity. " The same thing occur during Kanto Earthquake en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1923_Great_Kant%C5%8D_earthquake#Postquake_violence
Because they're Chinese. Extreme racists seldom view their hate towards races as racism. They just believe it's necessary, so they justify it that way.
@@AyubuKK Why do you doubt him? I'm fluent in Japanese as well. Just because you're too stupid to learn Japanese doesn't mean others can't. By the way, wtf do you mean by "name every grammatical rule"? Can you "name every grammatical rule" for the English language? 🤣
chaosXP3RT Their culture dictates incredibly high levels of respect. You should see when factory workers protest, they put up flags to shame the owner, but they still work in the factories.
Jeden Snow It's funny because they respectfully raped Manchurian women and then respectfully buried them respectfully alive. Also, respectfully threw respectful babies to respectful air and land on the very respectful bayonet! Respect Ni Hon
Rick Muller Most Japanese _are_ white. The whole "yellow" skin deal is like our trait for blond hair. It's just a honored trait certain people can say they have.
Random Videos "Asian" as a race doesn't necessarily refer to the skin color, though. It's like if you told me "Swiss" was a skin color. There's nothing at all to suggest Asians have any less of a reason to be referred to as "white", even if they are a subcategory. And for anyone saying all white people are evil, I have presumed Sami ancestors, so I am exempt from being racially labeled as "evil".
Damon Cassada Are you pulling these shits out of your ass? Although, I've heard that East Asians like Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese were given as "honorary whites" in South Africa during the Apartheid era.
Having a hierarchy and one leader are completely different, a hierarchy encompasses multiple ranks, one leader is just one leader, there is a difference.
@@imallin_1328 I meant it in the sense that it's not what you implied it is, it hasn't got the same "Hierarchy" like the yakuza. Is it a proper hierarchy? because that entails having a structure that is more than this is our Jesus for example.
13:19 Wrong subtitles. He did not say the "Aikokukai".He said "Zaitokukai". "Zaitokukai" is an abbreviation for "Zainichi Tokken Wo Yurusanai Shimin No Kai". This means Citizens that does not allow "Zainichi Tokken".Zainichi Tokken means prerogatives of Zainichi Korean ( permanent ethnic Korean residents of Japan ). In fact Zainichi Korean does not have any prerogative. But Zaitokukai use Zainichi Tokken as pretext for discrimination.
Ayyyy lmao. I used to do internship in a russian consulate and i've seen these guys (3:00) circling around in a van shouting things (couldn't for the life of me figure out what they were shouting tho)
Wanting your own people to have a nation for the preservation of their culture and ethnic group is bad? Ok, well the native Americans and the Africans etc, shouldn't complain about "Colonization" but we all know you would say it's racist for white people to take over those regions right? Don't be a hypocrite, and you don't explain why you call them "racist" you just say it which is a fallacy, debate arguments not labels.
These guys are idiots. Uyoku doesn't represent rest of us in Japan. Nationalism, or the belief that your own country is superior to other countries brings nothing but wars and instability. The Uyoku may say that they want to keep traditional values in Japan but that ideology is fundamentally flawed. From the time we opened to capitalism, western governance and globalization, our culture has intertwined with the west. Furthermore, culture is dynamic, no matter what our government does and no matter what any government does, you cannot maintain or "preserve" a culture because cultural values will always change with time. The only viable way to "preserve" a culture is to be in complete isolation, which is impossible for Japan because Japan is a global power. Whatever people's position on nationalism, immigration, domestic and foreign relations, and governance is, people must acknowledge it is not only difficult to difficult to keep a clear sense of national identity, but it is impossible to do so, especially in the modern era where the societies collectively are more globalized. As a person, born and raised in Japan and whose native language is Japanese, my nationality doesn't come from hating on the Chinese, Koreans, Russians, and etc. my sense of nationality doesn't come from having traditional values, my nationality does not come from a social concept of race. It is never that black and white. My nationality comes from the people I have spent my time with, my experiences in life. Uyoku basically makes up LDP, the fact that makes us angry is the fact that they are just like any other hate group, right down to the fact that they won't admit that they are racist. .
I remember growing up in NY and being of Italian decent I couldn't understand why my friends fathers were never there yet they had big houses, nice cars but the furniture in their homes were old and out of style. When I got older I realized that their fathers were in prison. La Cosa Nostra. My father used to tell me not to call for my friends at their door. I didn't understand why but luckily for me I took his advice and one day my friend's father was about to get into his car and it blew up. I don't remember the specifics because we're talking at least 30 years ago. But I have to say the Mafia, at that time fought amongst their selves and kept the neighborhoods safe.
A bit of a shame (my critique on more Vice vids) this wonderful insight in Japanese culture isn't placed in a larger context. I as a Westerner that has a real intrest in Japanese culture (not of the kungfu movie type) can't determine the culture meaning for Japan of these people. Where does this movement come from historically, what do they stand for, why do they think they can only be heard shouting form speakers, etc, etc. It's only a glimpse of insight in this Japanese Right Wing movement. Still grateful though! It's such a rare thing to see everyday Japanese life/culture where I'm from.
DeRaafMedia They ( the right wing group) are referring to the Kuril Islands which are territories that the Japanese conceded after WW2 along with Korea, parts of China and their Indochinese colonies. I find it funny that they conveniently decided to pick at Russia. If you're going to claim the Kuril Islands are Japanese based on the old Imperial Japanese map, why not claim Korea as well?
DeRaafMedia what is this you two are speaking like actual humans and not ripping the shit out of each other its a rare sight on youtube respect my good sir
Well done! OMG, you made a very rough group of close-minded individuals quite sympathetic; in others words, for the length of your presentation i suspended my normal sensibilities and saw the world through new eyes. Although not changed, my attitude and understandings have been broadened as a result of watching.
***** irezumi is just japanese for tattoo. if americans get them outsidede of japan they just look cool, but if a japanese person gets them in japan, and i don`t mean any tattoo, i mean a full blown whole body dragon, carp, geisha or something like that, then it`s yakuza. no `normal` person would get a tattoo like that in japan cause it`s a pretty big social stigma
Diana Stefankova none of that is yakuza specific....dragon is symbolic of power monks get the same tattoos due to meaning....and tattoos are becoming a larger thing in Japan now and have for the last decade or so
TheWeeCrafter It wasn't nationalism that caused those, at least, not the first two - the Jews did that. As for the centuries of colonialism? Well, taking a look at Africa, it could use some fucking colonialism right about now, yeah.
alliminator2 >if you welcome, love & see other people whom look different from you as fellow brothers & sisters, exchange ideas & ways of thinking, be reasonably tolerant & accept that change is inevitable one way or another, then you hate your culture, people & identity. -__-
God Goon People of different races and ethnic groups are not interchangeable and not the same. There's no reason why we shouldn't seek to persevere people's uniqueness both culturally and genetically. You say change is inevitable but I disagree. Change isn't always good and it isn't inevitable. I'm all for exchanging ideas as long as that doesn't lead to the destruction of people's cultures and social structures. You're so "tolerant" you'd tolerate a bullet in your head. Keep the world a rainbow canvass not a brown smudge.
jsmetalcore Which is utterly irrelevant. You don't get to choose your parents either, thus its flawed to be proud of them? Don't think so.Nothing wrong with being proud of your nation, nor your ethnicity - while you don't choose them, you espouse them, and only a fool does not know pride in his people, his nation and their accomplishments. Side note: Double-think in play... "The idea of being proud of your nation is flawed, because you didn't get to choose it... But the idea of being proud of your body is reasonable, even though most of your physiological features/traits weren't chosen either". Assumption made, true, but I'm jus' Goku.
Well, it really depends on the situation, Nationalism is understandable in countries which have been invaded, and tortured by other nations, like Argentina and Ireland. In cases like that it's understandable considering They were tortured for years and the people want an apology at the very least
nilesrock024 Why would I take pride in anything that I didn't have a choice in? it gives a false sense of accomplishment and only people who haven't accomplished anything with their lives hold onto false ideas such as patriotism. I'm a US/UK citizen and I view that taking pride in other people's accomplishments is absurd, its just like praying. People feel like they did something without actually doing anything, ideas like that hold people down.
jsmetalcore Why wouldn't you? Are you proud of humanity? Are you proud that we went to the moon? Are you proud of what your parents and their parents before them accomplished? Pretty much none of it you had any choice in. What is pride? "a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired" There ya go. To say only people who have no accomplishments are proud of their heritage is a lie on your tongue, and you know it. Whether you chose your heritage, your nation, is irrelevant - you espouse them, whether you like it or not, and you can choose to rise to the challenge set forth by your predecessors, or grovel in the dirt thinking yourself a lone individual in the maelstrom of reality, instead of he who carries the weight of the accomplishments of your forefathers, which are grand (in the cases of some nations/ethnicties, at least) and worthy of pride and admiration. I'm US citizen, of German and Irish heritage, and I find the notion of abandoning ones sense of pride in their heritage and nation, the accomplishments of their people that have created the circumstances now faced, having created the context into which one is born, similarly representative of utter absurdity. People feel like they are part of a group/nation that did - does - great things, which they are by virtue of their birth and participation, and ideas which suggest this is wrong, that its best to abandon such, not only hold people down, they weaken them from the inside out - making them easy prey for those who seek to conquer and control them. Also: Atheists are no better than theists - you both think you know that which cannot be known, and which you do not know.
yasashii89 since when does russian mean a person of then russian goverment, they ment lavrov, then they wanted the islands back and then they yelled that the russians should go out of japan
Yes, but that has nothing to do with racism. They're not saying that they're against a particular race of people, they want the Russians to get out of the northern territories, meaning they want Russia to stop administrating them and give them back to Japan. There's not connection to actual racism.
From whatever little I can see, its one of the following: 1) Reaction to the rising Chinese threat and Japan's overly pacifist attitude to national security. 2) A reaction to the society wide, endemic malaise that has gripped modern Japan, especially males. 3) The Yakuza re-emerging, using right-wing politics to gain a degree of legitimacy while they're at it. Or some combination of the above 3. I'm not Japanese so may very well be wrong though.
The yakuza are not rising as far as I know, their numbers have been dwindling for years and years. And they've had legitimacy for a long while and have been on the right wing the whole time. They openly run businesses and have political sway.
Jerry How is it possible to be European and make such a foolish comment about the ring wing in Europe? There is a huge difference between most of the countries. So no, you are the idiot.
What I meant is that most right wing organizations around here are looking for an old kind of state and laws, such as neonazis of francoists people. I don't really know about other countries organizations, but I do about the spanish ones, because you know, crimes of dictatorship have never been condemned here so it's a usual thing you see.
I love how most of these guys talk about the yakuza like it's some third party when they're very clearly members....especially that one guy who had half his body tatted up
He doesn't oppose everything chinese though - he himself said that he was taking the tattoo with a chinese motif, even though he had avoided them in the past.
yeah, they say that they`re not affiliated with it and then with the same breat they say that they have to go and ask permission to do their thing from the local yakuza boss and then have to do as they are told by the yakuza, so I think that they are delusional. the only thing that is different is that they don`t have as much money. otherwise, they dress the same they have the same tatoos, they have similar agendas. and they obviously don`t have a problem with killing people as they so nonchalantly said about killing chinese people
Diana Stefankova Asking yakuza for permission is their reality, much like anyone wanting to build a casino in Atlantic City 40 years ago in US had to ask the mafia for permission.
"The comments in this video are personal opinions, and do not in any way represent the views or positions of Vice Media Japan" Nice disclaimer, don't want to burn those Yakuza bridges Vice.
don't these....."gentlemen" know that embassy is technically a foreign country zone?? that is why they are not allowed to come in nor posting anything on the fence.
Yakuza is a total joke now. Chinese triads brutalized them in many recent business ventures, not violence. In the underworld, money is king and Yakuza has lost the power of making money.
Triads rule the meth trade in almost every country in the world in including my own, New Zealand. All the NZ gangs work through them for raw meth making supplies. They own the underworld too.
@@chocoburgersenpai1627 Yep, ethnics can't seem to have a peaceful protest which is more effective for their intended goals, but it turns into a criminal circle jerk because that's what they truly care about, not reform etc, just stealing from someone who decided to work hard and destroying their lives. Many of them ethnic funny enough.
"I don't want to get tattoos that are related to China" Someone should break the news to him that almost everything in Japan was influenced by China, especially architecture. Oh, that and the written language.
I remember watching a yakuza documentary in youtube more than 4 or 5 years ago. It's about the yakuza life and there was an old man who was an X yakuza that is being documented/interviewed. There was also a 2nd ranking young boss interviewed in that documentary as I remember he was wearing a white suit and in some scene he was being assisted with a guy holding an umbrella. Not sure if the documentary was made by natgeo but I can't find it anymore in youtube. Anyone knows that documentary?
funny fact: they were actually having Chinese food and Shaoxing wine after their meeting in the last part of the video, even though the wines were covered by napkin, hmmm
Just like how he ended up getting a dragon tattoo. If he really wants to protest China, stop using chopsticks, stop reading from paper, stop doing anything that came from China. The man’s an idiot. Like all uneducated ultra nationalists right wingers are. And if you want to protest another nation’s occupation of your country you’d think they’d protest the US. This guy’s a joke.
Mrインクレディブル the man in the video says he doesn’t want to have anything to do with China. The irony lol. And tell me what territories do China owe japan?
Loyal to the emperor, but not racist. Bruh you know how many people the Emperor killed during WW2? They weren't as racist as the nazis, but thry were very sadistic.
darthvictor001 The old emperor (Hirohito) died in 1989. The current emperor (Akihito) was 12 years old when WW2 happened and had nothing to do with it. The current emperor's rule (1989 to present) is called the Heisei (peace) period. Akihito is a pacifist, world-renowned specialist on the goby fish and has written over 38 peer-reviewed articles for scientific journals. His wife, the empress, is a Christian-educated master silkworm cultivator. The imperial couple are respectable.
***** They were more modern imperialist. They were anti-European and also hated other Asian ethnicities, but they primarily wanted the European colonies out of Asia and create a bigger Japanese empire.
darthvictor001 Actually Hirohito had no actual power during his reign as is traditional with his position. He was a figurehead both worshipped as a demigod but not allowed to involve himself at all with governing. It was the nationalistic expansionist military that controlled the Empire back then and used the cult of the Emperor to enact their agenda. So blaming Hirohito for the numerous atrocities commited by Japan back then is slightly unfair.
I dont think that we in the West can really understand the Yakuza. We think of them as a mafia essentially, but it's not quite. They are more like a paramilitary. They have very strict rules and expect total loyalty, and most of the population dont mind them.
The Yakuza originally served as vigilantes to guard a devastated and unsafe Japan after World War II. Murder, robbery, and rape were rampant throughout Japan in retaliation for Japan's wartime rule. Immediately after the war, due to the rule of the GHQ, the Japanese police could not operate, so instead of the police, they were the ones who kept the city safe. However, as the city became more peaceful, they have nowhere left to go and became a criminal group.
That is utter codswallop. The roots of the pathetic yakuza ( the globes weakest organised crime syndicate ) stretch F A R further back than any nonsense about post WW2 roots. You’re a liar. And an unrepentant Japanese nationalist apologist.
Actually Yakuza have been around since the Edo period. But anyways that's how most gangs start. It almost always starts with a group of marginalized people organizing to defend their homes, people, rights, etc. Most people don't even know that the crips started as men protecting their neighborhoods armed ONLY with their fists. It was actually looked down upon to have weapons like guns, knifes, etc. But the thing about gangs and organizations like these is that there's always new members. With every new generation of recruits the organization goes further away from it's own ideals. The newer generations of kids that join weren't present for the inception and therefore have no idea what the gang was created for, and thus join based off their own perception of what the gang is. This cycle continues until the organization is twisted into an entirely new beast full of violent power hungry individuals that don't know or care what their gang's true intentions or goals were. This is exactly what happened to the crips, Raymond Washington the founder of the crips hated the idea of using guns on the streets which resulted in majority of crime being fist fights. However Washington was eventually arrested and by the time he was released he didn't recognize what he created. The gang had no stable leadership while he was gone and so the use of guns in the streets skyrocketed and became accepted due to new recruits wanting to prove themselves and kill their way to the top. Washington was not a good person but he recognized that he created a monster and attempted to distance himself from the gang, however tragedy struck. Washington was disallusioned with the gang, and they were with him, he had no influence or authority whatsoever anymore, and so he was tragically murdered by the people he called friends. He was killed in a drive-by, and it's generally accepted that he was shot by fellow crips. 3 years after being released from prison Washington was approached by a car full of people and they called him over, Washington was notorious for not speaking to people he didn't know and even told an acquaintance at the scene that he knew the men in the car, he got closer and briefly conversed with the men until somebody in the car promptly pulled out a shotgun and ended his life before speeding away. Washington was no saint and was known to be a very mean and a bully of a person who while he protected his neighborhood he also harrased it, however he never had the chance to truly live his life. He was a young man who tried to create something bigger than himself before it spiraled completely out of his grasp, and eventually cost him his life. His story may be tragic but it is not an unique one, the majority if not all gangs, mafias, organizations have their own versions of this tale.
One thing I've noticed after looking at the various right wing ideologies of the world is they all tend to have one thing in common. Whether its some form of conservatism or nationalist political ideology, all of them seem to favor traditional and traditional, more archaic values of their culture as opposed to new ones. They also seem to have this nostalgia for some point in the past that they think was so much better than the present(50-100 years ago). They also seem very hostile to criticism of their older ways of doing things, and often see change as threatening.
Human self-conceit/narcissism never ceases to amaze me. Everyone wants to feel like they're superior to someone else...so much so they'll even wish to lose basic rights/freedom and have a dictator/emperor again. All in the name of feeling part of feeling like part of the club, feeling they're special, etc...and then they die like everyone else having wasted their lives living a fantasy about being special but they shall be forgotten like millions before them.
xutianyangkevin its been 70 years, Japan is not a defeated country they lost a war 70 years ago and now that is behind them, they want Japan to be less passive to its neighboring countries. I'm not an expert but from what I can tell Japan has some of its land occupied by other countries and that is something worth protesting.
Everett Guenther Quoted from Sahir Zubair: "It has nothing to do with the realities of Chinese expansion. Unlike Germany, Japan has remained culturally isolated. Every German child is taught about their nations actions in WWII very critically, but that isn't the case in Japan. The current generation have no familiarity with the horrors of war and actually see themselves as the victims." I couldn't have put it better myself. Oh and that land that they claim is theirs is firstly the cost of their defeat, and secondly wishful thinking. Japan had imperial control over Korea for like decades - should the world hand Korea over as well? It may be worth protesting but they are protesting for stuff they do not deserve... yet.
It's the Japanese people who preserve Japanese culture, and it's the government's job to preserve historical objects. Culture is a living thing. Bad cultures that exclude foreigners and minorities, inefficient rules in companies, and a fear of change should disappear by themselves. I don't think the culture of beautiful crafts and architecture and treating others kindly should disappear. (Although there are quite a few times when I think Japanese people are meaner than Americans.)
Happened to me in Japan. Me and other students were visiting an old style japanese hotel in the mountains, and on the walls of that hotel there were pictures of important people that were staying there at some point. The owner of the hotel specifically pointed out a picture with a bunch of men in loincloths, all of them covered in tattoos. Then he told us: "see those men with tattoos? they are NOT yakuza".
The swearing in of the new leader took place inside a Chinese restaurant? not very patriotic right? and the words on the banner looks a lot like Chinese writing. LOL
With just hiragana and katakana Japanese is difficult to read. There's no differentiation of spaces and, due to the way Japanese sounds, lots and lots of homophones. Perhaps a different system could be developed without kanji, but as hiragana and katakana are at the moment and how they're used kanji is very much needed. Also, kanji is a part of Japanese in the way that French is part of English. The roots go way back, things have changed and developed independently, etc. Getting rid of kanji for some reason of "purity" would be ridiculous.
Some yakuza are good. When I was waiting for a friend I was sitting on the steps of a store that was closed. There was no customers in or out because it was closed, and the only person in the store was the owner of the store. If he didn’t want me there, I would have moved but he never said anything to me. He instead dumped water on me and pretended like he didn’t do it when I confronted him. He was the only person up there so idk why he was lying. Anyway some yakuza saw it and handled the situation for me.
The end statement about "Losing passion" when they lost WWII... I under stand their deep passion and love for their country. But there is no reason to lose your love of your country because it lost a war. I hope that isn't a real feeling of the Japanese that live there.
Since I was young I'm in love with the japanese culture, mentality and language. And I totally understand the wish to protect traditions, but I dont get it why to go this strict against foreigners. On the other hand as the government you have to make sure that if a foreigner wants to live in your country he or she needs to follow the rules/laws of your country (like:"If you want to live here, just simply follow our rules") and that's not racist or anything like that, it's just logic. If I want to live their, in Japan, I would totally obey to the traditions, behaviour and stuff. I wouldn't throw away my education or character traits, but I would bend them so they fit to both, me and the country. That's called respect to the people and country. But if chinese ppl want to cut fingers from dead bodies due to stealing stuff, man.. then the government need to make sure to either arrest those disgusting folks or to send them back to their country, as simple as that. But these are the extremes you can find everywhere and I think most foreign ppl (I might be a bit naive, please correct me if I'm wrong) in Japan are respectful and want to live in peace, so it's bullshit to go against every foreigner. Man, civil courage is one thing (preventing ppl to cut fingers off of dead bodies to stay in this example) but acting like you are the police and making your own law is simply self-judgement and often criminal. I think they dont even know what they are "fighting" for.
the chinese cutting fingers off bodies is a lie, they just hate chinese people because of a century old propaganda campaign from the first sino-japanese war
your outing chinese people out of everybody because of their own cultural values, which isn't even harmful like this isn't a threat to society cutting off fingers from already dead people. This is text-book racism.
It started in 1630, because of the western popes trying to keep converting the japanese and then with the western traders keep causing trouble to Japan which what makes Japan felt so threatened towards the traders that they ban the whole traders outside of japan and foreigners from entering Japan. Even Japanese during that time WASN'T ALLOWED TO TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF JAPAN. During those times, the japanese were taught about how bad foreigners are based on the incidents happened to Japan. Japanese people are pretty much typical people who tend to follow each other's same thoughts
***** That is some bullshit from the teacher's union. They should gladly sing that national anthem, but there are more important matters Japan must attend to than disrespectful teachers. Right wingers always focus on trivial matters like gay sex and corrupt unions.
wrong. Yakuza's are not just fit for a fight they are also capable of mass murder without batting an eye. Insult a yakuza in person and you put your whole family and relatives at risk. Even if you kill one everyone of the member will be hunting you down and killing you in the most painful way.
Looking fit for a fight and being fit for a fight is completely different, and why would they need to be able to fight? They don't engage in terrorism they respect the law of the land, so be respectful of that a lot of movements don't. They engage in peaceful means.
Nothing wrong with that. And a funny thing by that logic, the native Americans should have no problem with the "white man" taking over north America and there should be no problem with "colonization" because keeping all foreigners out is racist and therefore bad, I hope you keep consistent with your logic.
@Manav Kumar singh You do realise I was making an argument for Europeans owning North America, not the opposite? I agree with you. Do understand and comprehend before making stupid comments and resorting to name calling you pussy,.
Why is the resolution of the original material so poor, and then who on Earth decided it was still ok to resample it just to get the Vice watermark on top? Or was it at the same time as the subtitles were added?
When I got busted for non-existent crime I didn’t even commit and incarcerated inside an infamous “Ryuchi-jo” detention cell, One of three of the my cell was a Yakuza guy with big tattoos in his back with his pinky finger cut off. He was actually very kind, he angered with me against injustice police illegally hauling an innocent guy like me. Mr. Gon. Gon san we called him. He was far honest, even naive and humane person than much of those snitching backstabbing people swaggering as colleagues, bosses, bureaucrats, politicians and polices. And I saw and heard how police in this nation is co-parasitizing with criminals like Yakuza. Another guy I met in the cell told me the story of him serving Fuchu jail at the time the boss of Yamaguchi-gumi clan which is the realm body of pretty much all Yakuza, Mr. Shinibu Tsukasa arrived. He was treated like VIP, completely isolated from other inmates, using all the exercise ground cleared of other inmates dominating all the time when he exercises, and the most ridiculous part was the meals. Of course he was served special gorgeous menus. But in order for the prison to cover up the fact of such corruption, they upgraded menus of all the inmates altogether as soon as he arrived the prison, and when he left, of course, all back to the same-old prison meals. Today, laws were made so that we the common people can get legally blackmailed, arrested or pulled down from social stages any time by alleges that he/she gave cooperations or even just got assumed acquainted with one or two pictures of them taken with alleged Yakuza, or “Anti-Social Forces” they call it today, no matter he/she knew it at the time or not. It’s literal Witch-hunting. And They always go with no such alleged Yakuza “Anti-Social Forces” rarely arrested nor their names and whereabouts ever revealed by alleging entities, if any. Yakuza is not dying. Police assimilated them inside their system as weapons against commons. There’s something terribly wrong with Japanese society today. Much worse than you’d imagine outside bars.
For a little more context, the Teachers' Union is extremely left wing, with strong ties to the Communist Party (along with many of the large labor unions in Japan). They have strongly opposed having the national anthem playing during graduation ceremonies, violently protest for removal of US forces in Japan, and lobby for more Chinese and Korean influence in Japanese textbooks. Though the Uyoku are fringe members of Japanese society, I'm fairly certain that Republicans would have a far more violent response if China illegally occupied a couple of American islands after killing more than fifty US civilians (as Korea did to Japan years after the war).
Japanese prominent movie director Takeshi Kitano respets old style Yakuza. I heard he used to join yakuza party sometimes, then got ideas of movie. The terrifyingly manly party in this video reminds me Kitano's great movies that were often misunderstood as a gay movie in the West.
I used to live in Japan for more than a year, but that was about 10 years ago. I often miss Japan, and I'm thinking to visit again. Yes, Japan is a beautiful and interesting country, but there are so many things wrong with Japan. If you are interested in Japan enough, probably you know what kind of things I'm talking about... Many weird things happened to me in Japan as well. For exampe, a man trying to escape through a window while I was taking shower, another one asking me for almost one hour to go to his place in very early morning while I was waiting for the train, another man giving me viagra saying it was a painkiller and I almost got rapped (by the side effects my mind wasn't clear, I felt like I was going insane and I almost jumped from the 5th floor balcony), another man put something in my drink when we were at the bar and tried to bring me to his house, but thanks god some other guy noticed something was wrong and he called taxi for me... There are some things happened that I don't even want to remember... If anyone is reading this, just please be very careful if you go to Japan, or other country, don't trust people too much, try not to be in some places alone... P.s. Sorry for my poor English.
becuase you don't have mind going to the bars alone and you are a girl ......i am a man and i was in japan alone and never went to the bars and night clubs because all if them were scammers, and i was smart enough and careful. Make advise for yourself before giving it to somebody else.

+Paul Staker Plus they were also going to kill any Chinese they ran into and bury their bodies in the rubble. Right.. totally not racist.
+Paul Staker Russian is a nationality, not a race
Disgusting whitewash.
Correct translation for this part:
9:14 start
" *In Shinomaki city, WE HEARD that the Chinese were cutting off fingers and looting rings, watches (personal belonging of precious metal value).
And if they spoke Chinese, we were to kill them there and then.[/End identical trancript]
*If we buried them in the rubble, then nobody would know. But in the end, we didn't see any Chinese people*
I'm Japanese and I noticed this too. The correct translation is "as a end result we didn't find any (Chinese)" - These guys are def racist, don't let them speak for the rest of Japan.

Uyoku basically makes up LDP, the fact that makes us angry is the fact that they are just like any other hate group, right down to the fact that they won't admit that they are racist. .

Seriously, if I wasn't a history buff, I'd be wondering where the actual context of all this is....still am wandering.

Lets be honest the ideas of patriotism and nationalism are flawed, since you don't get to choose which country you're born too.
jsmetalcore Which is utterly irrelevant.
Neil Mc Cann Countries come and go, its much better to act on humanitarian efforts rather than national interests.
jsmetalcore Why wouldn't you?
Are you proud of humanity?
Are you proud that we went to the moon?
Are you proud of what your parents and their parents before them accomplished?
Pretty much none of it you had any choice in.
What is pride?
"a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired"
There ya go.

Souverän DE They were refering to this; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuril_Islands_dispute. Not Russians living in Japan...
From whatever little I can see, its one of the following:
1) Reaction to the rising Chinese threat and Japan's overly pacifist attitude to national security.

Japanese people are racist as fuck. They despise all other Asians and also dislike black people
darthvictor001 Actually Hirohito had no actual power during his reign as is traditional with his position.
TheOffkilter Slightly, let's name it the Japanese military leaders then.
I dont think that we in the West can really understand the Yakuza. We think of them as a mafia essentially, but it's not quite. They are more like a paramilitary. They have very strict rules and expect total loyalty, and most of the population dont mind them.
I think they have just learned to deal with them, truth be told they are too busy to care.
Sounds like mafia.
Is that a little person on the right in 17:05?
Well doesn't the name "conservatism" tell you in itself that they want to conserve the old?😄

Yea no shit other countries occupy Japan... Japan is a defeated country because of WW2. This protest is futile.
dLight I know right, people need to learn their history.
xutianyangkevin its been 70 years, Japan is not a defeated country they lost a war 70 years ago and now that is behind them, they want Japan to be less passive to its neighboring countries.
The current generation have no familiarity with the horrors of war and actually see themselves as the victims."
I couldn't have put it better myself. Oh and that land that they claim is theirs is firstly the cost of their defeat, and secondly wishful thinking. Japan had imperial control over Korea for like decades - should the world hand Korea over as well? It may be worth protesting but they are protesting for stuff they do not deserve... yet.
I'm Japanese and these vans going crazy with crazy noise are just annoying. Yeah I like my culture but nah I don't support in this kind of way

Ikr. Without Kanji, Japan wouldn't have a coherent written language.
+Dong La Ly kanji is way too unnecessary anyways
thank god for kana
With just hiragana and katakana Japanese is difficult to read. There's no differentiation of spaces and, due to the way Japanese sounds, lots and lots of homophones. Perhaps a different system could be developed without kanji, but as hiragana and katakana are at the moment and how they're used kanji is very much needed. Also, kanji is a part of Japanese in the way that French is part of English. The roots go way back, things have changed and developed independently, etc. Getting rid of kanji for some reason of "purity" would be ridiculous.
I'm guessing they go back to their HQ and play Yakuza games on the PlayStation 2,3 and 4 all day long 😂
Some yakuza are good.

Yes, Japan is a beautiful and interesting country, but there are so many things wrong with Japan. If you are interested in Japan enough, probably you know what kind of things I'm talking about... Many weird things happened to me in Japan as well. There are some things happened that I don't even want to remember... If anyone is reading this, just please be very careful if you go to Japan, or other country, don't trust people too much, try not to be in some places alone... P.s. Sorry for my poor English.
