Me, As a amateur person that just have bought this camera. Seeing how much potential it has and knowing to put all those editing skills u have is just mind blowing. I really enjoyed it. Great job.
This is fantastic. Beautiful camera work, movement, composition, editing and storytelling. I'm watching this at 6.30am on my phone so I'll have to watch it on the computer later to fully appreciate it.
A well thought story and a great sense of composition. Guys like you are my inspiration to not give up on making such amazing films. I currently own Sony a7iii and i know this thing is a beast at its price. Keep making such amazing films and inspiring us. ❤️
Loved it. I loved the beginning and middle but felt as if you ran out of ideas towards the end and wanted to close it pretty fast. I still loved it and would love to see a 45-90 min feature
Thank you!! hahaha you are correct! We were definitely running out of ideas because we didn't have a story board or anything for this, just had an idea of what I wanted in my head and that was about it. We only had one day to film at this location so we were for sure getting burned out towards the end. Thank you again for the feedback! Really appreciate it :)
Thats a really nice short film. I really like the color and most of the composition, but since the A7III has the ability to shoot in 4k I would've used it. Keep up the great work!
I agree! We only had a day to record this so I needed my autofocus to be on point at all times but on 4K it’s not very good so I made some sacrifices. The video was only going on social media so it was perfect :) Appreciate the feedback though!
Brilliant little film, I was blown away to see that this was shot on the A7III, a camera that is far from cinema quality yet you captured that indie cinematic look spot on. Great edit and use of music and sound as well, that brings it all home.
This was a wonderful short. Really liked how you used sound for pacing and as a way of letting viewers know that something was happening other than what we saw on screen. The ax chopping and heart monitor working in tandem was nice. Great shots. Nice work.
I haven’t finished the video..but thought I’d come and comment..wtf is this bro? It’s soo fucking good. Very good work indeed and the actress is playing really well, great acting from her part too.
Great work and awesome to see it on the a7!!!. I have been using it for photography for a while but just started using it for documentaries and short films. I also shoot in cine4. Which lens did you use? Great work.
Awesome job guys!!! I am shooting a short film tomorrow and the Black Magic we usually use isnt available so we are gonna use my A7iii. Honestly just as good in my opinion. With the exception of not being able to shoot raw. Did you film this in 4k. Awesome cinematography aswell!! Credits to the DP!!! As this inspired by the video game The Long Dark?
Yes! I’m so tempted to get the black magic but I love the autofocus on the a7iii too much. This whole video was shot by me and my girlfriend (the one in the video) so we don’t have much time to focus on manual focusing. And yeah, the only thing that sucks is that it doesn’t have RAW and 10bit :( but it still looks great! For this video we only shot on 1080p and because the autofocus works so much better. We really should have shot it on 4K though. I’m hoping to get the Sony FX3 soon. And OMG, I didn’t even think of that game when making this but I can see the similarities hahaha. We took inspiration from “the revenant” and “I’m thinking of ending things”
Hey I think I am late in replying. First of all a great job, everything was perfect but the color grade was the best. I am also going to shoot a film like this can you help me letting me know if you shot this in any log profile and then graded it later, or you put off the PP and took advantage of the nd filters. Your reply will help me a lot
Dude this is insanely good!!! Hey I need a little advice. I also shoot on Sony a7III and I'm struggling to choose between Tamron 28-75 and Sony 24mm GM 1.4. I want to focus on shooting no budget short films and fashion type ads...which one do you think I should go for?
Your short film is brilliant ? What picture profile did you use and what were the settings ? Did you need to color grade or color correct it or is everything as is straight from the camera with no color grading ? Keep up the good work !
Thank you brother ❤️ the trick is to just go out and do it haha. You’ll be surprised with the results as I was with this. let me know when you do make one, I’d love to watch it!

@@skyhighproductions Thanks for the tip! I'm planning on doing a road trip around Canada once Covid's over, so I'll pencil in Alberta! Btw, I loved your wedding videos. I'm wanting to do wedding videography but need a portfolio. Any tips on getting clients with no portfolio yet?
@@michaelschumann8175 hey sorry I didn’t see this sooner! The way we got started in weddings was by doing the first one free (they ended up loving it and paying us at the end anyways) and then after that we posted the wedding video on our portfolio. For the second wedding we only charged $500 and showed them what we could do with the previous wedding video. After that we charged $700 for the third wedding video. Honestly, just getting to do the videos is such a huge payment because you learn SO MUCH and you get so much experience. It’s honestly stressful but so fun and rewarding. Now we are really comfortable and just have fun during the day with the couples, plus we charge much more now :)
@@skyhighproductions Thanks so much! I really appreciate the advice! If my wedding videos are half as good as yours one day, I'll be stoked! Time to try and find a client :D

I would love to start working on more tutorials, wanting to start eventually! Everything was shot in 1080p for better autofocus and then upscaled to 4k :)
Haha I agree. Looking back at it, it needs quite a bit of work. That’s the beautify of filmmaking though, you create, fail, then repeat :) Thank you for the feedback!
Congratulations for this amazing cinematographic work. One thing I"d change: These cams have amazing resolution and so do the kit lens. There is that crisp, digital look all over, and if you are very careful you will NEVER see that crisp sharpness in any Netflix series. As the same time I was watching your footage, I went back and forth to some Netflix series, two; Jessica Jones and Midnight Mass. Compared to these two series I found your color work fine. You did a good job, but these two series, even though they were filmed, I bet, with Alexas, don't show that "electronic" sharpness you have. I think you should try playing with more cinematographic lenses, old Nikkors and Canons maybe? Look at the faces and lines on the faces of the actors in those series, it's really soft, your footage is really harsh. YOu have an amazing can, don't pick up the sharpest lenses, not for fiction.
Hey man! I appreciate all the feedback! I'm just using the lenses and gear that I have available to me. I had a very run and gun set up since it was all recorded in one day with 1 actor and 1 camera man. I've recently purchased a black pro mist filter to get rid of some of that sharpening.
@@skyhighproductions My advice is don't use junk Netflix shows as a benchmark. Your images aren't too sharp. They look good. There's nothing wrong with a naturally sharp image anyway. (Though I think artificial sharpness done in post or by in-camera sharpening can introduce cheap-looking artifacts.) You shouldn't be making a soft image just for the sake of a soft image fad. Only do it if it helps evoke the story you are trying to tell with your images.
