Jon needing a cup of tea to figure out the ratios for a single machine is just preposterous. Where's the magnificent bastard that celebrated 300k subs with an Excel video? We want Solver-optimized factories, dammit!
Make sure you unlock and start using the ore refiner/ purifier asap because if you look at your furnaces its a 20/20 output, with refined ore, its 20/30 input/output
Yeah so I watched this, slept on it, dreams of nothing but this game, then bought it the next morning and have been playing it non-stop since. Yeah i liked this one
Paradox really has the whole 'We have X game at home' thing down to a tee, don't they? They took Satisfactory and Factorio and then produced something that was lower quality than either.
To be fair it seems like nothing to write home about. It's like Satisfactory, but without really any of the things that made the first person view in it work well without feeling overwhelming.
See a fun new factory/automation builder. See that it's being put out by Paradox. Instant buy before you even got past the first two minutes of the video.
I appreciate the game but it very much seems like a clunkier Dyson Sphere Project or Satisfactory. However, a positive I see is the possible terrain manipulation? Other than that I don’t know why I would choose this over the better options.
I like the look of this, it looks as if it doesn't take itself as seriously as other games of this genre. I'm hoping we get to see Jon play more of this in a livestream, if the streams on Factorio, Satisfactory and Dyson Sphere Porgram have proven anything then Jon making an automated factory is always a good time.
Star Control date 0092!! Another day, another request for Jon to play Star Control 2 delivered with knee-buckling humility. It is, as always, his favorite game. Regardless of whether or not he’s ever played it. Tyvm&gb
sadly published by Paradox whom i don't trust that >-< far anymore. But worth keeping an eye on. Imagine Statisfactory but you can go... down! Like you can in Minecraft or underrated Fortresscraft Evovled. If i want "something like this but better, if a bit (lot) clunky", the latter one would still be my similar but favorite choice. Even automated combat and stuff. Definitely over fancy and hyped but simple, grindy and fake 3D Satisfactory. Also i wouldn't call that genre tiny... there are tons of these games about. Techtonica is a good recent one. Factory town, Astro colony...
There is no combat, the world is generated and made of voxels (so it's cubes like in Minecraft). As far as i know this is the only factory game that has no combat (even Dyson space added that)

@@EtherealHaunting there's easy progression to do. Build a house, get some armour, defeat the dragon, read the rather deep but pretentious ending message, Jon might even like doing the archeology stuff that was added recently. He seems the type to enjoy it
Day 105 of requesting _Age of Mythology_ (A full playthrough if possible) I hate what TH-cam has done to this layout, but love that Paradox made this game.
If you like Beltmatic, i highly recommend trying Shapez, it's the same concept, but instead of numbers you have shapes that you can rotate and put colors on...and stack on top of each other 😅 gets complicated real quick
While there are some novel features to this, it doesn't sit well with me how closely this mirrors Factorio - specifically, the design of the UI, and names and types of items. It feels like minimal effort was put into making an original game, relying on the creativity of others. Kind of disappointed with Paradox.
I have dyson sphere programm, factorio and satisfactory. And somehow i always come to a point where i would have to do it all over again in these games. At that point i just put them aside because it would be just too much work.
Twitter/X: "Anyone who makes the machines in this game explode will be hired for Elon Musk's Mars terraforming project". Elon Musk: "Jon is an egghead I will not be hiring him".
Sooo..... This game is just a knock off and limited copy of 'Satisfactory'......... Same premise of gather resources to fuel conveyor belts and factory parts........... Just with worse graphics and less functionality... Also. When are we getting more 'The Saboteur' videos John? :P :D
The satisfaction of perpetually optimizing a system, along with solving a puzzle of your own design is hard to explain. Personally, watching this is definitely making me want to play this, or maybe just more factorio.
This doesn't look like a very fun game. I love games like this such as factorio, but I can tell this is just going to be too messy. The buildings are too big and the view is too limited to make a fun game. The size of that research tree tells you how big your factory is going to be. Now imagine having to simply lay the base plates for a factory that size. Having to build a floor for everything is excessively burdensome for something that big. Throw in limited resource piles and instead of the "factory must grow" it becomes "every thing is broken because one resource is out and now I need to spaghetti another one in from across the map."
I really appreciate that this drill digs a perfectly square hole.
"Any spaghetti can be tolerated so long as you call it your "starter base." - I think ambiguousamphibian? That or DoshDoshington.
Gotta be Dosh. Because I thought it was either Dosh or DocJade.
Sounds like a Dosh saying
Think that was from Dosh’s Space Exploration playthrough
Jon trying to optimize the output of low level science that he will move on from very quickly amused me.
the factory must grow
Jon needing a cup of tea to figure out the ratios for a single machine is just preposterous. Where's the magnificent bastard that celebrated 300k subs with an Excel video? We want Solver-optimized factories, dammit!
To be fair, he used Excel for that.
Which is the smart thing to do.
Make sure you unlock and start using the ore refiner/ purifier asap because if you look at your furnaces its a 20/20 output, with refined ore, its 20/30 input/output
Jon, I have nearly 500 hours in factorio and am not confident enough to say I'm "familiar" with it.
This genre is an absolute nightmare for me, but I do enjoy Jon going full true nerd on it!
To me this genre is 'cookie clicker with extra steps'
The main bus concept would probably blow Jon's mind
At least it's already one way
from how my dog just tilted her head in interest... are we sure that is a robot puppy, and not actually a robot dog toy?

Exactly. Why does this game need to exist?
I always watch videos of these types of games from Jon wondering if Mattophobia is also watching and losing his damned mind at Jon's logic ;-)
Have you tried Captain of Industry yet? It's half conveyor belt logistics simulator and half city builder.
To be fair it seems like nothing to write home about. It's like Satisfactory, but without really any of the things that made the first person view in it work well without feeling overwhelming.
Good afternoon, Jon
I assume it is possible to create a Turing Complete computer out of all the belts and thingy bobs.
The robot pupper sounds like Sweep!!
Jon you might really like the old star wars game Droidworks if you like iterative testing games
Noo, I need more!
See a fun new factory/automation builder. See that it's being put out by Paradox. Instant buy before you even got past the first two minutes of the video.
how do you change the colour of the robot im currently stuck with a orange one and want purple as favourite colour
Yes, Science definitely starts getting very silly (expensive) very fast.
I thought that power flowed through the floor structure. If so, there’s no need to transport the (ignium?) to the main base area.
Factorio and dyson sphere I love not tried satisfactory. I got to give this a try though.
More than one episode please

Paradox Interactive?
@@Chephadrom yes, Paradox Interactive.
''Create an enormous factory complex stretching from deep underground to the planet’s surface and the skies above.''
Jon keeps referencing Factorio, has he actually played it? I don't think I've ever seen it on the channel.
He did a short(ish) intro and then a longer birthday livestream of it
Cool video eggboy
The one question I have for Jon is How is this one bit different from Satisfactory?
There is no combat, the world is generated and made of voxels (so it's cubes like in Minecraft). As far as i know this is the only factory game that has no combat (even Dyson space added that)

It's much closer to a 3d factorio than satisfactory.
It basically seems like they turned that Minecraft automation mod into it's own game.
An aside, we can at least tone down or completely turn off the Dark Fog in Dyson Sphere Program.
Automoton base simulator
God damnit John mentioning Minecraft in this game made me wish for a Minecraft let's play
I know! There's one or two in the "long ago times" of the channel, but alas he never came back.

There's actually a Minecraft mod that is essentially the same as this game. Can't remember the name of it though.
This is my ideal Minecraft mod
I want to see AI agents play this like 72 hours to insane results

oh hey, it's baby's first factorio. that is completely what this makes me think of.
robot name +1

Game looks cool but its a shame it uses AI voices to avoid having to pay actors in other languages. First stellaris and now here

Stop.
I absolutely do not see the appeal of this sort of game. To each their own I suppose.
The satisfaction of perpetually optimizing a system, along with solving a puzzle of your own design is hard to explain.
Personally, watching this is definitely making me want to play this, or maybe just more factorio.
I was curious about this one but it seems too involved and a time sink. Pass.
oh yeah these games are absolute destroyers of time. I treat Factorio-likes pretty much like a drug. If you need to kill time, they are great though.
