Angron might have had an ability to take pain from others, but he was never meant to be a healer look at those chosen to be in his legion from Terra.
The most aggressive, most competitive, and most brutal barbarians clans were chosen for the 12th none of those traits sound like they belong to a healer.
The emperor build the legions to the point where the terran born marines would adapt almost perfectly to those born on the primarchs world it would be strange if he did it for everyone else but not angron

The problem isn't removing the nails, it's replacing the missing chunks of brain. Emperor I believe can do a little time manipulation, he could probably near-pause time and remove the nails and put him on life support, but how do you add brain? Maybe via a clone or keep him on life support long enough to regen, but there's no telling how long or successful either would be. Really he should've figured out a backdoor way to trick whatever sensors detect him fighting and trigger it so it constantly thinks he's in battle. It still would've slowly killed him, but he'd suffer less. Merciful thing would've been to let him die in his rebellion
Or idk, since the Emperor has such immense power, maybe stick his soul in a jar and clone a new body. There probably were a few options

The story about how his legion ended up getting the butchers nails was always such a tragic one to me. For them to just Black out and murder dozens of their brothers and for them to still be like, yeah, this is definitely a good idea blows me away.

    • @3adgamd3r
      @3adgamd3r 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Well that’s because they could rationalise it to themselves, not everyone who got the nails turned into a babbling madman, and they knew their versions of the nails were inferior to the original, so they probably assumed they’d improve with each implant
It doesn’t quite work like that, as shown in the 40k Lion book, a son of Sanguinius (not a Blood Angel but I can’t remember which chapter he hailed from) chose to be a traitor and was desperately trying to get the nails, when he finally got them he murdered his most loyal retainer and only “friend” in a blind rage, regrets it for a moment, then forgets it and her entirely as the nails take over
However in the book he speaks to an original World Eater and dude was like “yeah you REALLY don’t want this” and he actually kept denying him for the implantation, but eventually another WE dies and he gets the ones from the dead dudes body

The Second Compliance of Ghenna was where the World Eaters took care of the ones who didn't want the nails. It's ironic that this planet was supposed to "save" the legion since this small coup was trying to find a way to get rid of Angron's nails but in reality, found a way to replicate the nails to the legion entirely therefore damning the legion.

  • @demolitionnicholas689

What I find interesting about angron was his whole “taking the pain away and putting it upon himself” makes a lot more sense in the context of his legion that I think a lot of people are missing the point.
Because, you have a complete legion dedicated to melee, and enjoy being in the front line. But what’s gonna be commonplace when you’re in the frontline? Injuries. A lot of injuries.
Angron’s true purposes would’ve been to helping his soldiers, likely reinforced with the apothecaries to help tend to the severely wounded, like angron taking the pain away from a space marine that just narrowly survived losing all his limbs whilst the apothecary stabilizes the wounded space marines condition.
It’s all the more reason why I find angron sad. He could’ve been a great aid if he hadn’t the butchers nails implanted and sacrificed to Khorne

The issue with Angron's Nails, compared to the Nails that his legion (and the other slaves on his world) had, was that Angron's in particular were THE original Nails that all others were developed from. They were the prototypes.
And where these First Nails would have killed a normal human in maybe hours, Angron withstood them thanks to his Primarch makeup. But there was a problem; the more the Nails dug in, the more his own brain tried to fight back and undo the damage caused by them. The push-pull of these two things caused such intense strain that eventually, even Angron's genetic strength would have started failing. And because his brain had 'grown back' so much after each time the Nails sung, they were deeply blended with each other to the point where they didn't know if they could remove them safely.
The Emperor of course, just went. "Hm. Leave them in. We'll just use him as weapon instead of a general. A broken tool can still be used for other purposes, if not perfectly." And condemned him to a slow, agonizing death over decades.

I think it’s mentioned in one of the books that nothing can remove the butchers nails as they have more or less eroded angron’s brain - taking them out would have rendered him a vegetable or dead. while angron himself would probably rather be dead than stuck in a state like his current agony of in a vegetative state, the emperor thought he was more useful alive, granting him no peace of death.

Taking away pain, isn't healing. It's more like unnatural resilience. I imagine it would be very similar to how a zombie in various lores, throws 100% of It's being into a strike or assault. Humans can't quite do this because our brains don't allow us to act this recklessly, for obvious reasons. Primarily preservation. But it also would have defensive applications, too. For those who tabletop, angron's presence could have potentially given fight on death to his entire legion. Maybe to other nearby legions aswell.
