Thanks.. I was able to get this done but I can't export it out with a transparent background. It starts in transparency before exporting for a couple seconds then goes away when the opacity is counting from 0 to 100. I tried rendering it RGB + Alpha and it didn't work. I didnt use your backgound.

Awesome tutorial. Just what I was looking for. Out of curiosity, is the smoke footage stock or something that you generated yourself? I’ve tried creating smoke (or rather steam) in AE to varied success.

@@JohnM-sz2vh It's been a long while since I've tried but I had some success with the particle generator in AE, . You just have to change the size of the particles and the gravity. There should be some YT turotials. There are also some good AE plugins that will generate smoke that you can find with a search. And if all else fails grab some alpha keyed stock footage smoke. @@DMTayag Thanks. I've tried a few different ways, even with "Trapcode Particular" but not completely happy. The presets are mostly for small smoke point uses such as cigarette smoke, smoking gun barrel and such, but i did not have much luck getting large area whispy smoke like for a burning pile of ruble.

Just adding this here for anyone else who asks in the future. Add Effect "Shift Channels", and where it says "Take Alpha From" change it from Alpha to Luminance
