Be careful, David, with your bad back and all, at least you're making some progress with it. I look forward to part 3 to see how far you are coming along when you get the parts in until then take care...
I had to remove the metal trim off the head to get it out it was so thight and the driveshaft came out a little bit was a balls to try get it back in ended up having to drop the hub off
Im deep into this same issue. It is alot of digging thrilu fourums i need to pull my engine again its the counter balance set wrong at the factories. Without the fourums you will not succeed but you need to discern. Im months at this same problem now. After this next engine pull il have the counterbalance set right now and it wont come thru the cdankcase again🙏 vital information mate save yourself a world of pain
@InTheWorkshop i read there was a 2 month waiting list for the rubber dampers. More put it down to them failing. Its the biggest issue with the bike as you can see yourself what happend
I purchased some used parts from the US which included all the dampers and they are not hard and brittle but very good condition so will be using these 👍
@InTheWorkshop i managed to escape the complete engine rebuild for now. Mine only went half way thru the case. I have another engine with a bad main bearing. A mechanic told me they have a dry bearing set into the cast of the engine. Im excited to watch the next vids. Sorry about the excessive coments i got over excited when i saw a snap case
It's good to get your comments, I thought I was the only one who had this problem and all the info I receive helps me make decisions during the build. Thanks very much David 👍
My bolt hd walked out the shaft bit wasnt snapped the rubber dampers were perished and i read it was due to synthethic oil chemicals rotting them. They were rotted and bits show up in the oil screen but now as i have excessive vibration i went back to the fourums and have discovered now its likely my counterbalance wieght is set wrong. Im thinking now tht was the cause of it all as i read some were set wrong in the factory but not enough for a recall. Dealers were comped. I just copied the factory also read haynes manual is wrong the pin is in the wrong hole so i have yet another engine pull to avoid another engine falure like you have there and i had here
Hi David, hope your well, that is a big lump, you got it on the workbench now time for stripping back, the gear box didn't look good all mashed up, hope you can fix it. Catch you soon mate, take care
You will think someone was in there before you but its not the case. Its a fuk up at the factory and you will put it all back the same and end up pulling the engine like me again. Up to you if you want to do that mate😅
And that was i guess the easy part , i do not know how you ever are going to get is in that frame ( without hurting yourself ) all alone in that no space workshop , just be carefull man. 🙄🙄
Big job ahead David. I’ll be here to watch it all. Keep it up.
