Very good Driving Experience review except for one problem. This car is an excellent Grand Touring Car and a lot of people are touting it as such. The Magneto rheological suspension helps it to have a nice ride in the touring mode. And when you consider how well this rides compared to other cars that go this fast and handle this well, this is THE car to get unless you're going to opt for an Aston Martin for a couple hundred thousand $ more. Otherwise, I'm glad to see actual owners doing reviews on TH-cam. I've been waiting for this. 3:14 Hey TH-cam, your timestamp thing is off. I watched this all the way through, some parts twice, before coming back and commenting later. You need to rewrite the program for accuracy.
Remember the Acura doesn’t market like the 911 and that’s what GM is doing, marketing to many and not to just one. The Z06 is not 7 or 8 grand over the Eray. And no, I don’t plan to track my Eray. I would venture to say most peeps don’t track their Z06 either. Eray is priced very well below Z06(which is about $16k more when you add the optional Brembos, $8.5k, that are standard on the Eray) $2.5k gas tax, $5k lower MSRP. For the $16k savings I’m buying the HTC, Front nose lift, 3LZ and other goodies. As far as a good cruiser, are you kidding? You’re sitting in a Wide body Eray vette and yes, it’s made for cruising. It’s a great GT car. The Z06 sounds sweet, however, On a long drive, not sure I want to hear it dronning for a long periods of time. Unfortunately the Z06 doesn’t shine till it’s over 5000 rpm, which the ZR1 will solve with the additional torque to get it off the line. The Stingray launches faster than a Z06 because of torque and, in my opinion, sounds sweet. GM did a wonderful job with the Eray in performance and price. Thanks Tadge for giving us this car.
Let me get this straight… I’m gonna rate the car lower because I think there are better options available for “ME”. While I applaud and respect your opinion of what the other buying options are, I absolutely disagree with your assessment of what you say is a great car, but then proceed to bash it. Case in point; “I gave the Acura NSX a high rating, even though the E-Ray is better by every measurement. Because there’s other options other than the E-Ray, and not for the NSX.” (Paraphrasing of course). Disagree with the company, bash the marketing department, criticize their logic… that’s all fair and valid. But when you bash the car because you don’t agree with its manufacturers marketing strategy, then I can’t trust your review because you’re allowing factors external to the car to cloud your judgement.
Charlie, When it comes to car selection, I am definitely in the 'More Options' camp as opposed to the 'Henry Ford Had It Right by Selling the Model T Only in Black' camp. 😁
Z06 easier on tires no way no how I’ve been driving Corvettes for over 30 years plus a 2018 ZL1 & the one thing I hate is my once my ZL1 rear tires have over 7k miles on them it’s like riding on slick in the winter very dangerous. I like to hook & book & it does in the summer but I have to be very cautious once the temperature drops below 50° same thing for my past Corvettes. I plan to buy a 2028 ERAY over a Z06 for several reasons, i’m definitely in the minority, but I don’t think the Z06 exhaust will never grow on me it sounds to much like a crotch rocket/exotic/rice burner plus I never intend to track my sports cars also the torque numbers on the Z06 is just too low
I would rather ride a horse 🐎 to work than drive a Hyundai Tucson talk about boring not mention there’s one on every street that’s the beauty of the ERAY It’s gonna be a low volume production vehicle like a unicorn you will rarely ever see one on the streets I like to drive vehicles that very few people have. I bought a 2023 GMC sierra AT4X 14 months ago & I’ve only seen 2 other ones in 14 months on the road 😎
Well opinions are like A holes and this guy definitely has one. Not to mention he is a californicator. I own a new Eray and and love it. Was on a Z06 list for 2 years and turned down my order when it became available to buy a 24 Eray. I have a LOT of track time (SCCA road racer for 5 years, NAASA TTU class racer in my 15 C7 Z06’ and driving instructor for same organization for 4 years). At 72 and with my favorite local road course recently closed down I saw no reason for the Z. Additionally a friend’s new 24 just had his engine replaced at 1500 miles after the “ticking noise” could not be fixed. E is faster than Z in every case except when balls out on track. ( How many of you do that)? I have yet to see mine go into 4 Cyl mode. Add to that the Z is pretty gutless under 4000 rpm. Yes the exhaust note is great but loud. I don’t feel a need for that much attention to go fast. Z is a great car but if you are not a track rat buy the E, be faster most of the time, and be happy.
These high performance cars while fantasy inducing and attention grabbing aren’t serving the mission purpose of these cars. Which is primarily to hurl the driver and passenger at insane and illegal speeds in almost all public road situations. None of us will legally test out the true capabilities of these powerful modern sports cars except the few who take this doing track days. Additionally, these cars are all reporting driving pattern information to the insurance companies. Basically most sports cars and EVs today are overkill. Though human nature being what it is, I can understand why it was made.
Dude, this is probably one of the MOST full of sh@t review on this car to date! The ERay is awesome engineering that will TOTALLY satisfy its targeted market....Me! You are absolutely WRONG. This car will sell excellent! Can't wait for my allocation (#3 on my dealerships list). Your video driving experience laughter when you accelerated seals the deal in how FUN the car actually is before you started commenting "opposite" of what the viewers heard and seen with their own eyes 😂
@@SwumpyTuna 280lbs extra but dont forget 130+ lbs of extra tq the z06 wont have. maybe even more.. so far the 2 dynos I have seen show it at 615-630lbs. Another things he is not taking into account is more then just the $7500 difference. All z06 have a GG tax 2200-5K I believe (e-ray doesn't). And All E-rays have the carbon ceramic breaks which are an 8K option to add to a Z06. Plus you add in the mpg difference and its adds up allot. So how much is that FPC sound worth.
Thank you for an honest review. I was on an Eray list until it came out and I was so disappointed when it did (too heavy, cost vs Z06, CCB, mileage, boring unless you are on a track). I believe GM brought out the Eray as a stepping stone to the Zora and the follow on C9. They knew it would be a sales disappointment as compared to the Stingray and Z06. GM plans to fix this with the C8 Grand Sport, unless they bring it out at a price point in excess of $90K base. I am hoping that the C8 GS does not disappoint, otherwise, I will keep my 19 GS and smile during every mile of driving.
This is objectively a bad review. No one has ever claimed this car to be "boring". Your video, and your reaction, contradict your own "boring" statement. Genuinely, you have to be trolling.
At the rate this country is going down hill, we might not be around. 😪 thats why I want to hurry but GM is taking so long to produce the cars. ITs not about they not selling enough, its about them making them. 6-7 months into production and they are making 5-6 or less a day. Right now E-ray buyers have left for other cars or find a Z06.
Boring. I understand we all have our opinions, but man, check to see if you have a pulse or put the Jack Daniels down. Boring? You do a launch and start making sounds like you’re really enjoying yourself. Did you review this video before you put it online? So many contradictions.
I respect your assessment but completely disagree. I thought you're trying to be humorously sarcastic and would unveil the true assessment at the end, but it didn't happen. Or you are trying too hard to say that the real fault with ERay is that it's too good but that's not the case too. A car being criticized for being too good is not just. Driving it for few months now I can say it's amazing on the street, never took it to track and don't want to either. But it's sharp, it's tossable in the corner, it's fun on red lights shaming 911s (not turbo S) without being obtrusive. It is not raw experience like old generation cars used to be and that is valid point but that's unfortunately how the improvements with newer generations are turning out to be from all manufacturers not just Chevy. In my naive experience so far with ERay its one of the best car for street fun after Audi R8 quattro.
lol. Well its his Opinion. Many of the reviewers loved the E-ray. Even in the corvette forums that are people that switched from a Z06. It just depends on the person. For his comment about the C7 GS and that stick thing in the middle (lol) you can tell he is into the more racing aspect. I knew about the Z06 long ago but wanted the E-ray. I wanted the first AWD and Hybrid. I had a C7 with a stick and hit a few race tracks. Now though I want power and control. I missed the feeling of the stealth RT turbo I had long ago. It too was a little heavier but the control and feeling was amazing. As I get older I will be living most of my life under 100mph. So for my c8 I want to be able to hit that pretty quick.

I own a C8Z, I totally dig the E-Ray. Probably a better overall car than the C8Z.
Man, I hope they make an e-z06
I want the Eray because it has the Z06 body 😎
$140k MSRP, is a BIG BIG number
yea... not even a convertible....
That Seawolf looks so blue on camera. It’s not actually folks. Very gray.

Appreciate your perspective, enjoy your car! Like I said, options are better for the consumer.
In your opinion do you think the Z06 is the better buy?
anyone in there right mind buys a Z06 over E-Ray 140k for a E-Ray is pushing it heavy even if it is AWD
Absolutely

@18:30 Ranking at #8 just above Hyundai Tucson? Really? Lol

Thanks for the note. Saw a C7 GS the other day and told my wife that's the true enthusiasts Corvette

At legal speeds it's not exciting.
@DailyMotor what car is "EXCITING " at legal speeds ? Don't start with brz or mx5 please .....death traps
I'll buy a used one in 15 years
