Loved how Andrew Scott and Dominic Cooper developed the scene to end on a heart-breaking question mark.

I dunno, I just feel like Andrew Garfield’s flamboyance really brought prior to life. I loved every scene he was in bc Andrew Garfield was mesmerizing to watch no matter what else was happening around him or to him or whatever. Andrew Scott is incredible too, but I think his styling for the character just isn’t as effective for me based on the little bit of his performance I’ve seen clips of.

@@katya6680 just about everything that happens after a scene opens with Prior in bed is mine. Pure chaos.

The 'reveal' in the stage production with Andrew Garfield took on a lot more weight for me. It was just really intense.

The first Louis then the last Prior would be amazing. The last Prior (Andrew Scott) was understated and real. I felt how uncomfortable it was to express that he was scared that Louis would leave him.

Film version wins for me. Simple but emotional and effective.

Same. But Andrew Garfield also did a phenomenal job as Prior.

I'd wonder how it would have been if Dom Cooper was Andrew Garfield's Louis.

They all have a different take on the delivery. Dom Cooper is far more tender with Louis and seems more concerned about his reaction. Andrew Garfield seems almost defeated like he is in a deep despair over the situation. And Andrew Scott is a lot more angry and bitter. Each portrayal is excellent in different ways.

4:16 November 2021: after watching another scene from the play, this was the first scene i memorized! So glad the show got me through junior year of HS ❤️

What a great comparison. Each version brought tears to my eyes, all three played so differently yet so effectively. What a show. I've only seen the HBO version in full and these snippets. So wish I could see it done live, but I live in an area where that's unlikely to happen and haven't got the ducats so see it anywhere else. So these little gems are priceless.

To be fair to Louis, introducing himself as "Lou" to his family is not a closet thing, its a Jew thing. They would sooner accept Prior as his boyfriend than call him "Louis". If he said "Im Louis" their smile would drop and they'd get passive aggressive because he's disrespecting his family and culture.

After seeing James McArdle in Andor, I really appreciate how much range he has... And how convincing his NYC Jewish accent is (he sounds like half my cousin's)

I think Garfield overacts. I was spoiled by Stephen Spinella, 1992 (Prior Walter); back 25 years later as Roy Cohn.
