      Of course I'm not doing anything on valentines day! Its 0 degrees outside and my wife likes shooting on her birthday when she can feel her fingers. The indoor range is like $300 for two ak mags on a full auto ak, 200 rounds of 9mm, 500 22lr, and a rental of your choice, usually a glock. I already have all that and more in the safe (minus the full auto.)

    For the history of that lever-action-bullpup-beltfed monstrosity... It was made in the UK to circumvent certain atrocious gun laws. If that gun *wasn't* a belt fed lever action, it would have been illegal, or at least requiring to jump through a bunch of "Oi! You got a liocense for that?" hoops.

      Seriously, the only mag restrictions are on a shotgun cert which is 3 rounds or less. Anything else? Go for it. Just single action only on a stadard FAC unless it's .22 LR. IIRC the maker just made that chassis because he felt like it and bodged it together out of 5mm ally plate for the linkages, the rifle is intact underneath. It may even have been made in true British fashion - in the shed after a few pints down the pub.

  • @kuuryotwo5153
    @kuuryotwo5153 2 ปีที่แล้ว +122

    The belt fed lever action was made in England I believe to work around capacity and semi automatic weapon restrictions. There's no limit to a belt fed weapon's capacity, and lever actions aren't semi-automatic. I can't remember what the deal was with the bull pup portion of the design, maybe a necessary evil to get the belt feeding system to work with the lever action or something.

      It is a uk build. 12" barrel minimum and 24" overall minimum. We have no capacity limits, it's a ruger so they imposed the magazine limit. He made a few box mags and then got carried away.

    • @ApurtureSci
      @ApurtureSci 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      There aren't any capacity restrictions on firearms here, and rifles can already be pretty short (300mm min barrel, 600mm min overall), so it's fair to say the belt feed and bullpup design were included to showcase his design and fabrication skills rather than get around any laws. You're right that semi auto (centrefires) are prohibited though, so lever action is the next best thing.

    The Japanese sword-pistol is one of two models that were requested by the Imperial Cavalry School by the Army Ordnance Development Department in July 1921. One model was designated otsu, one ko. The otsu had 4 prototypes made but was dropped in favour of the ko model. The handguns were Nambu, in 7mm JAP or 8mm JAP. While there were prototypes made, the common conclusion was reached that the combo sucked. The project was terminated by the cavalry school in 1926 as not feasible. The army officially terminated the project in February 1929. Several examples of this combination weapon exist.

    As a Polish I can agree that most of our old military equipment is called wz. (which is a shortcut of "wzór" - model in English) + usually the number reffering to year of being firstly rolled out. Nowadays most names are just made up in contests for example our new rifle is called "Grot" which translates to head of arrow, or little older and better known Beryl.

    From what I can tell, the K-11 was designed specifically for Armenian SF. My thoughts: they chose 5.45 for the same reasoning some U.S. SWAT departments have 5.56 bolt actions for their snipers: hostage rescue scenarios where your target isn’t super far away (100 meters and in) and the flatter-shooting, softer-recoiling, smaller projectile actually has some benefit over a 7.62mm/.30 cal round like 7.62x54R or .308 in that specific mission.

It should also be noted that SF are the only ones that have been seen using them, from what little I can find on the gun. The Armenians also have had a number of .338 rifles for some time now, including models from the UK, Russia, France and Finland. The ammo and mag compatibility is why I assume they use 5.45 instead of something like 5.56, though that still doesn’t take away from my thoughts on why they designed such a rifle in that caliber in the first place.

      My grandpa just got one of these. I was shocked by how crisp the trigger pull is out of the box! Grip is a bit too small for me, though.

      @@geraltofrivia323 I like mine. I absolutely look forward to getting their .45 variant in the future, maybe I'll swap my burnt ash wood grips over, and get another Victorian engraved cylinder for that one. Heritage is pretty good about keeping a large aftermarket of accessories and styles for their shit. I'm a fan of the company. Hell, I might even pick up one of their rancher rifles for shits and giggles too

    I'd have thought that a belt fed pump would have been a better idea, especially if you could could get it to fire every time you closed the bolt, like the early Winchester pump rifles & shotguns.
    The Phalanx Gun System with the "Minion" disguise looked like it was "happy to see someone".

      I'm not sure why, but pump actions are only legal in the UK for shotguns and .22 Rimfire. They are prohibited in centrefire rifles.

    Nice to see you acknowledge the work that went into the lever belt bullpup, whether you like it or not the build is impressive.

    That belt fed could actually be owned in the UK, probably the only thing going for it. But I would rather have a glock mag fed levergun if i was going that way tbh.
