The fallout range of the warhead was less than the firing range so it delivered dangerous radiation to the firing crew

Fun fact: The Davy Crocket micro-nuke was tested a few times. The thing is, it didnt shoot far enough, meaning it would actually harm the person shootin the nuke.
And after it was deemed unfeasible, the warhead was used as the backpack nuke. Aka atomic demolition munition.

It was also designed to be mounted on a vehicle. Like a jeep. So you COULD, in THEORY, fire the Crockett from a moving jeep and then burn rubber to get away from the blast. You'd escape the fireball and nothing else. I prefer the atomic annie

The Davey Crocket is cursed because the range rang was like 5 miles but the safe distance from the radiation was 7 miles
They had a range of 2.5 miles which was out of the blast area however they were extremely inaccurate and close enough to the blast area that a good wind would give the user lethal doses of radiation

The G11 would probably work. The bolt mecahnism is in the stock, the hand guard is empty save for aome force transfer levers.
and considering that G11 uses vertically rotating bolt mechanism (a literal wheel with hole to fit a bullet) to pick up a bullet (in vertical position) and then rotate it quarter to line it up with barrel, it doesn't even require all that much 'moving space' as opposed to most bolt mechanisms.
The magazine would not be fun though.

Yes the Davy Crockett was real. It was the grandfather of the "tactical nuke" concept. In practice you got your encoded warning and fire mission orders over the radio, decoded and authenticated them, prepped, "aimed" and fired the device, and immediately fired up the jeep and hauled ass in the opposite direction and hoped you could find a nice deep trench to jump into before everything behind you lit up. "Aimed" is in quotes because the joke was, after getting the warning order and while waiting on the fire mission order, you said to the Fire Direction Center, "don't worry about any eight-digit coordinates, Bub, just gimme a Grid Square!", a grid square being a kilometer on each side.
It only had a range of two and a half miles and the warhead had a yield of between 0.01 or 0.02 KT. And you were lucky if yours was jeep mounted, because the basic unit was also man-portable.

The Davy Crockett, a "man portable" (heavy emphasis on those quotation marks) recoilless rifle and nuclear/thermobaric warhead. Meant for remote Burn Ops, long-term area denial, and good old fashioned "peace through superior firepower" grade Shock & Awe. Only 2 were made, one vehicle mounted, one "man portable," and 3 warheads were developed, 2 nuclear, and 1 thermobaric. In the end, it never saw non-experimental use, due to 3 major things:
1.) It was not cost-effective.
2.) Its weight made it HIGHLY impractical.
3.) Due to the weight of the nuclear warhead, launch distance was well within Danger Close range.
So the Fatman from fallout?

Well, yes. However there are 2 big differences.
1. The Fatman is a catapult. The Davy Crockett works like an rpg, in that the warhead is rocket propelled.
2.) The explosion of the Davy Crockett is magnitudes larger. A Fatman explosion in fallout is more akin in size to a rather high yield fuel-air bomb than an actual nuke.
The explosive yield of the Davy Crockett was more akin to the real world Fat Man and Little Boy dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I remember it from Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater.

Even that was a slight exaggeration of the Davy Crockett. Firing it from a helicopter would kill/violently concuss everyone in the cabin due to backblast, not to mention the Shockwave would knock the helicopters out of the sky.. Lastly, the range shown was drastically overblown.
Also, they didn't trust the soldiers to not fire it at the first sign of trouble and trigger WWIII
Favorite part: The Evil Dead reference at the very end: "Groovy"

Obrez (Обрез) is short for обрезанный or "chopped/sawed off" and actually most commonly refers to sawed off shotguns, not necessarily mosins. Like how when someone says "sawed off" you imagine a sbs with the stock and barrel chopped, and in Russia if you say obrez they will get the same image in their head.

(Since ya know it’s an AR pistol so it’s better for close engagements an option for no stock is cool). I think a side folding G36c style stock would also be pretty cool
The Davy Crockett had an effective range of about 1.25 miles (a larger version could fire out to 2.5 miles). It had a lehtal radiation radius from the blast of about a quarter of a mile, although I bet the firing crew would likely get more than a doctor's recommended radiation dosage at that range. It was tested at least once on July 17, 1962 in Nevada, where it was shown the launcher was inaccurate. It didn't need to be too accurate do to the lethal radiation area, although "short-ranged" and "inaccurate" are not things that should be mixed with "nuclear weapon."
