PS: When I was recording the vocals for this, I had somewhat of a headcold. So...some of the vocals might sound very odd(especially during #8). Then again...most of my vocals sound strange anyway. XP

I'm more sad that its now become the most popular Sonic game of all time despite every single problem it has.
1) The Werehog stages aren't bad because they exist. They suck because they go on for almost an hour, the combat is repetitive and boring, the battle theme is way too overplayed when you come across just one enemy.
2) The Sun/Moon medal collecting is the fucking worst. Every time you enter a new stage, the game will tell you to piss off and play more werehog. Not only that but the daytime stages clearly were not designed with the sun/moon medal collecting in mind. So basically the daytime stages are ruined thanks to those stupid medals because if you wanna collect those medals as Sonic, you need to basically progress at a snails pace, completely going against the core principal of a Sonic game which is to go fast.
Why does "Super Mario Sunshine" get shit on for the blue coins despite those being OPTIONAL, yet "Sonic Unleashed" and the mandatory medal hunting gets a free pass?
3) The Story lacks substance. At least with "Sonic Colors" and hell even "Sonic Forces", they knew what they wanted to be and ran with it. "Sonic Colors" wants to be a light hearted fun alien escapade, and "Forces" wanted to have a darker tone, and while not exactly succeeded, it came closer to its goal then Unleashed. In "Unleashed", Sonic gets turned into a furry sharp tooth Elastigirl and the entire world just fucking shatters.................and nobody gives two fucks about either.
4) The difficulty balancing is a joke. Time and time again the amount of shit they except you to do is almost too much which can lead to a lot of cheap deaths.

Im glad people are saying positive things about sonic, most of the complaints towards boom and unleashed are mostly cherry picking and complaining, i get sick of people bringing up sonic 06 and using that to say sonic still sucks, its been 10 years seriously we get it! "Oh but sonic boom sucks!" A spin off game ment to advertise the latest tv series plays like a ratchet clank game more then sonic whatever, "oh sonic lost world is horrible!" Sonic lost world was fun, idc if it was a mario galaxy clone i liked mario galaxy i liked sonic lost world! "Well adventure 1 and 2 haven't aged well they are just as bad as 06!" Oh you were reaching for that, adventure 1 and 2 are dated but their still fun to play plus the chao garden in adventure 2 nuff said! Its nice to see the haters being backed into a corner

Why do people hate Shadow The Hedgehog? It was one of the first 3D shooter/Sonic The Hedghog games I ever enjoyed. Multiple ways to complete your mission, many endings, and FANTASTIC BOSSES. I loved this game, it was one of my favourite games when I was young.
I like Shadow the hedgehog, but it's bosses were absolute crap. To me, the worst boss roster in the Sonic franchise.
You enjoyed it because it was the first one you played. I think you like it as a "guilty pleasure" rather than the game being actually good.

I love shadow the hedgehog but the bosses were terrible, any game with sonic and diablo, egg breaker and egg dealer in it has an unredeemable boss roster.

I liked and still like Shadow. I feel that Johnny just bitched and whined about the game. The control works fine for me and never felt too slippery. The voice acting was good. and the graphics were pretty nice for the time.

When I first watched this video and Sonic Colors was revealed to be so high on the list, I cannot begin to tell you how much happiness started rushing through me! And hearing you praise it as your favorite Sonic game was just the icing on the cake, seeing as Sonic Colors is my favorite Sonic game too!

I love the Sonic Franchise for a lot of reasons. Hell, both Sonic and the Black Knight and 06 are guilty pleasures for me. What I really hate is that both haters and reviewers have a tendency to over-exaggerate any and all flaws the games have to making them sound like the games should either 'A - Never be played by anyone.' or 'B - The games should burn in Hell.' and it sickens me. Looking at you, ProJared. Yes, the flaws should be acknowledged even though you love the games. Just don't make the flaws out to be a crime to all of creation. Especially since there is more good in the franchise than bad.

Sonic 3 has very explorative levels, great fast paced levels, great graphics, AMAZING music, the perfect length for a pick up and play game, mini bosses, elemental shields. It's Sonic 2 amplified by 1000X

I honestly don't know how I did that xD. Bloody mobile shite. Well yeah, Sonic is a platformer, but I feel as if sonic 1's platforming was a bit too simple. But that's just me. And yeah I do 100% agree with everything you said about the special stages. They suck, that's why I never get them, they're a waste of time. And the final boss is really meant to be a challenge, to show your skill. If you're skilled enough it's really simple, but that could be from me playing the game enough to know how to do it easily. And yeah I know what you're saying, but again that could go into shitty game design, but then again the same could be said about Sonic 1, you could accidentally mess up (I don't know how you could do that but if you did), you'd also get booted back to the title screen with no emeralds. It's what plagued plenty of older video games.
I think that people who won't accept 3D sonic games are the people who grew up only playing the first trilogy, duct taped their bostalgia glasses onto their eyes and asked for special nostalgia lenses so they would never see the greatness that is modern technology. Are you serious? Would you rather have something that is primitive as fuck than having something that innovates on every aspect of the same game with a lot of new features like drifting? Fucking DRIFTING! I know it's a small detail, but come on, it o ly adds to the experience. (Like flip-flops flip-flopping in GTA V)
I actually grew up with the Original sonic games, every now and then i would play and enjoy them. Their are sum good 3D sonic games, but alot of them are mixed bags. Personally, i think sega has milked this franchise dry... i wish sega would bring back some other franchises and give sonic a rest. Thats another story tho!
Au contraire, I grew up with both the classic series and the 3D games simultaneously, and while some of the 3D games have been good (SA1, SA2, Heroes, and more recently Colours, and Generations), the barely hold a light against absolute masterpieces like S3&K (thought, to be fair, very few games do).

i first discovered sonic on a danish website with flash games where i discovered what seems like a flash version demo of sonic advanced. later i got sonic rush and then my first 3D sonic game was Sonic Unleashed. the way i used to upgrade was playing the werehog level in the starting town. so many enemies.

I know this is way past late but Sonic 2 is probably my favorite in the "Classic" series. I have great memories of playing the whole game in *one* sitting with my cousin to go Super and clear the game with the true ending. I'm sorry but I i find Sonic Colors to be extremely overrated by the fanbase. Sure its fun bit other than that its a pretty average game with little appeal and content. Not to mention the story is one of my least favorites in the series. I sure am glad gems such as Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Adventure 2 got placed higher than that LSD trip.

The first Sonic I played was '06... good thing I was like 5 and didn't know any better, so the game (even though terrible), didn't give me a bad impression until I played sonic heroes when I was 8 and got addicted to the point of playing 'til the sun comes up
My personal favorite is Shadow the Hedgehog.
Personally I think that its controls take a proper step up from Heroes'. For one, I can actually CONTROL my character, instead of bouncing off the walls to my death or slowing to an unbearable crawl. Second, it improved the grinding 10 fold.
It has Shadow's best voice acting performance, provided by Jason Griffith. It actually had some emotional range and some fun lines.
The weapons/vehicles/bonus abilities that you could get were a joy to play around with. I mean sure, the car wasn't tat great and neither was the bike, but the bat, jump robot and turrets were great. Getting the Hero or Dark Gauges filled gave a lot of cool abilities. All the guns, besides the bazookas, were crazy fun and complimented the high speed platforming.
The secret unlockable(5 keys) gave out useful rewards and encouraged exploration.
Boss fights all had their own cool ideas.
The music in the game is actually some of the best in the franchise. Westopolis, Gun Fortress, Lost Impact, Space Gadget, Lava Shelter, and my personal favorite: Cosmic Fall. That ain't even mentioning the lyrical pieces like Never Turn Back.
Do I even need to bring up the classic lines? Some of them have become classic memes reaching outside the franchise.
Most of the bad parts were optional or negligible, and it only needed a few tweaks to improve the experience.

Uh... Adventure 2 is a "legendary" and "phenomenal" game...? Are we all just talking out of our asses for nostalgia sake? I used to play that game as a kid and I remember idolizing the hell out of it. Come today, over 8 years later, I got it off the ps3 network to try it out again.
It is a poorly designed, lazily made game with some of the sloppiest and most awkward cutscenes I've ever seen in a game. Sure, the sonic/shadow levels were very fun and well made, and the treasure sections were cool. The game is just overall a rather frustrating experience, now that I play it as a competent adult.
But the Chao Garden is still amazing.

I never said anyone is wrong... moreso misleading. I think many of the people who look at this game as "godly" are clouded by their memories of playing it as a kid. I did the same thing, like i said in the comment, until I played it again recently.
It's not bad, but it is FAR from legendary.
I got this game on Xbox LIVE and I think it's still an amazing game, and come on, it was made back in the early 2000s for the Dreamcast! you really expected it's graphics to hold up to today's standards?

I am so happy Unleashed was Number 1. Its story and amazing music made it what it is. Ps2, or HD, the game is great on either platform. Its amazing Friendship with Chip (IM NOT SPOILING) and Sonic made this game the most heartfelt game ive ever played in the sonic series. Even the ending can make anyone cry.
I definitely agree, FM. Sonic Heroes is a great game and it just so happens to be my favorite Sonic game.
