Hi K, thanks for all your great content, I love procreate....set my self the goal to try create digital journal inside it , its an interesting task, have template barest set up in layers, then each week has its own layer...works really well for my work flow. I think if you use Dutch Windows (i think that's what half pages are called) you could have some interesting opportunities 🤔. Well , thanks for all the idea's and help

My question isn’t about master slides, but what is the font that you used for the months? I need an answer. I’m one of your biggest fans! This video could really help me in digital planning! Thank you
After I create the background and add pages, I click off of everything (into the black area) so nothing is selected. But when I click on the paintbrush, it doesn’t say “master”, only “Layout”. There is also no master option when I go into the “edit layout “. It only gives me the option to choose Layout, not to choose a Master. What am I doing wrong?
Nothing! They changed the term to layout recently, but it’s still the exact same process

Oohhh my gosh! 🤣🤣🤣 Why did no one told us about the master slides first??? Also, I have been hating the way of how my handwriting look on my iPad when I use Goodnotes for example, if you’re familiar with the Papermate Inkjoy 100 1.0 M Pen with the cap and it has the pencil design thing and my handwriting looks a whole lot better and normal when I write with that pen on paper. So, I was wondering if the Apple Pencil grip that you use is actually has that pencil design thing, I tried to find one like that on Amazon and couldn’t find any that related to what I’m looking for/wanting. I’m also thinking about trying out Paperlike to also help improve my handwriting on my iPad!
Aaron Lanier Paperlike really helps a lot in giving that friction you get when writing on paper. My handwriting improved a lot when I started using a Paperlike screen protector. I will say that my grip on the Apple Pencil when writing is different then when I write with a regular pen on paper. Not sure if that is the same for others. Although I LOVE my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil combo (especially for school), there is nothing like good ol’ pen and paper. I also have a sleeve on Apple a pencil which helps with my grip. Without it, my hand starts to hurt after some time. Hope that helps 😊
Haha not many people know about master slides! And I would say the grip on the Papermate is definitely thinner. This grip is pretty thick (which for irl pens, I hate; but for my Apple pencil I love). The grip has been the best accessory I've purchased tbh. I have a video I made about Paperlike if you want to hear my thoughts on it! :)
Okay so I saw your last video , but I didn’t understand how to do the tabs change or hyperlinks because I want to do it like a calendar and planner changing monta but I got so confused Idk if I need to use Master class or just normal

Hello! :) Glad you took that first step for yourself. Make sure that you are filling out on the fields in your Etsy listing and that the file size is less than 20mb. If yours is greater, just compress the pdf either using Adobe software or "compresspdf" via Google search.

I can’t get the hyperlinks to work. I edit my master slide and add links, and it shows up as a faded blue on every slide following it but when I go to read only or good notes it doesn’t work.
Is there not a default calendar template in the app? Seems too much time just for making a simple calendar layout on A book

When I click the paint brush, it only says “edit slide layout” and that’s when I tried to look everywhere for a button that says master slide but I don’t see anything.
There was a recent update to Keynote. The language is now “slide layout” instead of “master slide.” The process is still the same!

have you ever had trouble exporting your planner pdf from keynote? is it possible the size gets too big to export? mine is roughly 27 MB- planner is about 490 slides. when i go to export it just stays on the export loading bar pop-up. also thank you for this vid!!
Unfortunately, large files struggle to export from Keynote. My planners that are 500+ pages are roughly that same size. I'm using a Pro, so it normally takes anywhere from 20 s to 1 minute to export from Keynote depending on my Internet speed. You can later compress these files if you need to decrease the size. :)
KDigitalStudio thank you for the quick reply! i’m using a pro too and the export status bar won’t even move after 5 min, and if i try to click “close” it’s frozen and i have to reopen the app. i have all the updates so idk what i’m doing wrong. i feel like i wasted time making a cute planner i can’t use!:(

It's just normal copy and paste. And GoodNotes cost somewhere between $7.99-9.99 USD in the app store. It's been several years since I have purchased it so not 100% the price now.

I’m not seeing Master slides on Keynote and a lot of other things are different now. Do you have an updated video with Keynotes updated information and features?
The interface is a bit different, but everything is still the same. It would essentially be the same tutorial. Apple renamed “master slides” to “slide layout.” ☺️
I’ve tried watching the video a few times and I really don’t know what I’m missing... but the hyperlinks I’ve got on my master slide turn a lighter blue when I add the master to a slide in Keynote, and when I enter ‘view mode’ I can’t seem to interact with them, what am I doing wrong? Am I just being silly? 🙈
I talk about it in this video! That should be what happening if you're doing it correctly. If you want to edit the links, you need to edit the master slide.

Paste doesn't work in masterslides, in MacBook and in iPad , I have everything done, go to slide, try to paste, paste doesn't work in slide layout...2 days long I tried everything, please let me know if there is a trick I don't know to enable paste option in slide layout...

It’s in the exact same place and process. They just call it “Slide Layout” now.
When I try to copy and paste it to edit slide layout it never copies and transfers it over to that page on the empty page

How do you get your Apple Pencil to not switch to drawing mode when you’re in keynotes?! I know it must be something simple that I’m missing but it’s so frustrating :/
You go to settings, select Apple Pencil and then make sure “select and scroll” is turned on!

I'm so confused. It doesnt say master slide anywhere. There s a a page with an eye on it in the top right corner. When you click it, it prevents the slide from being edited but there is nothing there that says master. If i unclick the link its like all the other slides and copying the "master" did not make links work for all other slides .... what did I do wrong? Do you have an updated version?
Apple changed the language to slide layout. Works exactly the same and everything is in all the same places. If you follow the video as is, you’ll get the same result!
My keynote app doesn’t have the option “edit master slide” what am I supposed to do?
I've gone and copied and when I open blank and tap on it, it just says select objects and comments - no paste do you know what I am doing wrong?
Okay so this happened to me and I found the solution. Idk if you already fixed it, but this is what helped me :
In my canvas I had put those bookrings (which I made myself and saved to my pictures) and the problem was which option I chose to get that picture from. So when choosing a picture click the first option you see that says "picture or video" or choose "Add from location.." which is your files.
If you choose "image gallery" keynote gives it limited options (for example : not seeing the options of multiple customization and only ) then that means that picture blocks everything else from pasting to the masters layers.
I tried it out multiple times deleting certain stuff and that seemed to be the problem.

Has keynote changed since you have done this tutorial...I just created about 50 some pages to start my own digital planner and noticed that the 1 slide is never called master slide just "slide" when I click on it to edit slide and add a link it only adds a link to that specific page and not the others? Could you please help or make a new quick tutorial if keynotes did change..thank you :)
There hasn’t been any significant changes. Just stylistic ones. The first slide you make isn’t a master slide. Master slides are template/layout slides and you need to go in to editing those templates (you know you’re editing them when there is a blue bar across the top of your keynote application if using iPad) as shown in my video.

So do you create a master slide for every page you have ?
Nope, a master slide is like a template. Create one or a few templates. And change the blank slide to the master slide (aka template) that you created. You can then build and add on top of the template (i.e. master slide).
I hit the play button on mine and I don't know how to get back to the editing area
Is it me or the latest version 11.1 has no master slide option? How would I utilize the master slide if there is no option?
It’s there and functions the exact same. They just changed the name of it to Slide Layout. I pinned this info in the comments!

I don’t have the master slide option, I’ll make a new presentation and go to the style icon and the master slide option is not there.
Language has changed with a new update but the process is the same. It’s called “slide layout” now.

Can you go through how to delete master slides please?
You can't really "delete" them. If you just want a blank slide again, go to that slide, click the tool shown in the video. Select "edit master slide" and you can change it to be blank again.

There was a recent update in Keynote. Master slides still work the exact same way, they are just was called slide layouts now. Click the edit slide layout button - it’s the master slides button.

:( so sorry! Master slides can be difficult to describe, which is why I stress playing around with it before using it for digital planning. I try!
KDigitalStudio aww, I don’t mean to sound ungrateful. Your videos are fantastic, but I just feel frustrated when I work on a selected Masterslide and then I don’t see it with all the other master slides. It disappears and I can only find it again by hitting the back-curved arrow at the top left corner of my iPad. And I also can’t seem to duplicate the masterslide for when I need to make the tabs flip.
I understand your gratitude for my videos, no worries! Comments like this help me improve :) But I would not recommend master slides for making your tabs flip because master slides are when you don't want something about the base of the planner to change. Tabs are a huge part of the planner and if you're editing them to make them flip, master slides is not a good choice. If master slides aren't "appearing," it's simply because you need to "apply" them to the slide you are working on. I show this a few times in the video, but you'll just make sure that you are on a blank side with nothing selected, click the paintbrush, and choose a master slide (where you'll choose the one you created), then click apply master slide. It will apply the master slide to the blank slide you are on and then you can build on top of it. Think of a master slide like a template. I hope this clarifies things! And thank you for the support!
