How to Link Digital Planner to Apple Calendar 🔗🌿

- Hey friends! I am so excited to be back with another HIGHLY requested video. In this video I will show you how to link a digital planner to Apple calendar without having to link to a specific date. 📆
This will up your digital planning game AND will make the entire process easier for you. I am currently adding these shortcut links to my own planners and I'm so glad I've finally figured it out. Once I finished testing my shortcut and tested it out, I just HAD to share the process with you. I hope this helps answer lots of questions! 💓

I followed every step, but adding a note for the reminder does not come up. Am I missing a step?
Yes! Looks like I left that part out, thank you for catching it. (So much goes into the shortcuts!) So what you want to do is click on the little arrow next to “Date and time” (the last part of the “Add Reminder” action). You’ll see options pop up to change “Priority, Flag, URL, Images, Parent Reminder, Tags, and Notes.” Click in the “Notes” field and choose the “Ask Each Time” option.
That will make it so that it asks you if you want to include anything in the notes section each time. 😊

And I' assuming that if you have a phone version and an ipad version of the same planner on goodnotes that your information you input on the planner would be available on either device??? How do I create the icon button into goodnotes and attach to external link????
Thank you thank you! I have been trying to figure out how to do this for ages and it’s so generous of you to share. But I have a dilemma I’m wondering if you or anyone else is experiencing: the shortcut works flawlessly on my iPhone 8 (running iOS 16) and my MacBook pro but will not work consistently (the add event to calendar fails about 99% of the time; reminders is ok) on both my iPads which are running iOS 17. This is really sad because the iPad is where I need it to run. 😢 I’m hoping it’s an ios17 bug that will get fixed soon!
Hi there! I haven’t checked it out with iOS17 but haven’t heard anything from it. Hopefully it’s just a glitch!
I am also having this issue. Whenever I click add new event it doesn’t even continue on. Hopefully this is just something that needs to be tweaked? I just updated my iPad to the latest version and it’s still not adding events to my calendar. Reminders works fine

My link keeps opening the shortcuts app but not executing so i took a screenshot of yours when you open it in goodnotes and your link is not the same link you get from iCloud. there is no https. yours says "run-shortcut" so did you edit the link entirely? and how did you get it to so to the correct shortcut?
Hi. It is very helpful tutorial, thank you! Tell me please, is there a way to make hyperlinks to these apple and google calendar icons faster? For example with data merge function in Publisher or InDesign like it is possible with dates? If yes, do you have any ideas how to do that? :)
I am not sure as I don’t use those programs but I’m sure their might be a workaround 😊

I don’t get it, how do you actually add it to the planner with the little logo? Like the shortcut’s done but how do I actually put it to use in the planner?
Hi Claudia! I followed the directions and am testing out the links. After I performed the setup on my ipad for the select your app, I chose the default as noteshelf 3. But when I am in noteshelf and click the run link, it tells me that the app failed because it could find an app to open. I also tried removing the default so it would ask and it gave me the same error. But when I remove the "Open App" action all together, the shortcut works but of course it takes me out of Noteshelf and opens the shortcut app and stays there. What am I doing wrong?
Hi there! If you chose your default as noteshelf then it should be opening up in noteshelf. Do you have any other notetaking app you can test this on and see if it’ll open in that app? I ran into this same issue as well and it took some testing until it finally got it right.

I got it to work. when I'm on my own device, I selected the app instead of leaving it blank. since I'm creating this to out in my own planners to sell, I had only set the import setup settings and I thought it would prompt me to select an app but it didn't because I created it so its already on my shortcuts
@@Creativelyclaudia I forgot to mention/ask this earlier. But when I do the run-through of the shortcut, it doesn't give me a box to add notes to the reminder. It only lets me write the reminder title but doesn't have that second notes box that you have. Is there another setting I'm not aware of?
Can these links be created on windows laptop. I use PowerPoint for my planner
In order to create the Apple shortcut you would need an Apple device. 😊
I am new at this - can you create a shortcut / link and add to an existing planner or can this only be added when creating a planner?
You can if you add links within an app that allows you to do that 😊
I am using Goodnotes! Just can’t find detailed instructions to make and add the link. I have the info for the link but that’s as far as I can get!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!! I just have one question, I’ve added the shortcut but when I test out the link for the icon that the customer would press for it to go directly to ask them which would they like to do it will only bring me back to adding the shortcut. I even tried what you said do at the very end and put what you had and added my shop name but it was invalid. Any suggestions?
I would have to double check the shortcut you created and make sure that there isn’t a step that might’ve been missed.
@@Creativelyclaudia I think I may have figured out why. I use Canva to create my planners and for some reason it lets me add the first one for them to add the shortcut app but for some reason it won’t let me add the personalized one.
@BeYouTee interesting…I wonder why it’s not allowing you to add it. If that’s the case, I would use another program to add those links.
Also, did you test it after downloading the PDF file, or are you trying to test from Canva?

Can you create the short cuts on a planner you have purchased that does not have them??
I think some apps allow you to add hyperlinks now. I believe you can do so in Goodnotes! 😊

Im not sure what im missing. When I complete the last step, im confessed with how to get the link. Am I supposed to copy the link that the shortcut provides when clicking the (Copy iCloud Link) into my planner. Im using Keynotes and when I put the link into my planner and open it, it automatically pops up the prompt. 😢
Same thing happening to me 😢 What link are we using to embed in our document? When I use the iCloud link it just opens my shortcuts app when clicked on from my planner. Ps thank you for sharing.
@@ladybailey386 Right! So many people are having the same issue but, the Creator keeps replying with a timestamp!
i was having that issue too. But I noticed in her link it doesn't say " iCloud" it's edited to say "shortcut>//run-shortcut"... then the name of your shortcut. so copy her url and where it says her name just put your shortcut name and it should work. It works for me.
@@Thehouseoftatum I am going to try that because mine is doing the same...it probably has to do with the ios update...great tutorial though.
Maybe a stupid question but how do you link within your planner.
Like your apple logo...do i put a image on the page with a link?
And what link do i use then...the link to the shortcut?
You choose any image when creating your planner and you would add the link that I mention at timestamp 24:10 😊
Aha. Get it...but doesnt work.
When i paste my link to my planner , open in goodnotes than i keep getting the page where i install the shortcut....but nothing begin to open the calendar

Maybe i found it....i copied the icloud link and past that in my planner...but....thats is Just the download link...i think? The link you show at 24:56 that is the link i need to put in my planner that i am making..and then add my name to it??

Watched the whole video only for you to say at the end that it’s not for after the planner is created 🙄 I literally just wanted the shortcut for a planner I bought.

Hopefully Canva will make updates where these links can be added. For now, I would just use a different program to add the links. 😊
