    The best leader i ever had was an introvert. Always quiet and absorbing what was going on around him. How the team was melding together, or not, which people did which job best, and who to pair up to encourage those who werent up to speed. It was definitely a special talent.

    Great video. The irony is that a ‘strong’ leader in fact often appears overly ‘confident’ to overcompensate his/her insecurities. Because of office politics and wrong assumptions about leadership, the alpha (fe)male (unfortunately) often makes it to the top. These people are in practice, however, often more concerned about their own career than the interest of their people/the company. In practice it seems very difficult to change such a system though, as these people do not like their power to be challenged. Therefore, it is important to lead by example and let the facts speak for themselves. In the longer term, a more humble and value-centred leadership style certainly pays off.

      Very true observations, especially about the alpha leaders actually feeling insecure. A lot of people overcompensate to hide their insecurities and as you said, they care more about their own career and people not challenging their power. Spot on there! I think if a leader focuses on building/supporting their team they will be noticed because the team as a whole will be performing much better than the team under the alpha leader.

    The title vs presence is a fresh enlightenment, thanks Kara! I love all the other myths too, and I think all of them have stood in my way (well, in my head), but I like that - as usual- you go beyond the obvious and point out some less glaring obstacles too - which for me, is title vs presence. Thank you 😊

      I'm so glad you liked this video Eszter! It's often ourselves or our own thoughts that hold us back. That last point about title is an important one. It also means that you don't need a title to start being a leader. If you start showing the right qualities sooner, you will get promoted faster :)

      Thank you for watching Hero! It's common to shut down in big meetings, especially if you're with people more senior or experienced. But, it doesn't have to always be that way. I have a lot of videos on my channel to help people communicate more confidently in meetings. One of my recent ones is here, "Communicate with Confidence and Authority in Meetings" th-cam.com/video/22AWtTCVKBw/w-d-xo.html. Then this video, "How to Be a More Confident Leader" will help you develop the confidence you need at work th-cam.com/video/E0X11zacWzM/w-d-xo.html. I hope these help you!

    I’ll share some of my experiences: myth 1. Leaders usually don’t know anything or if they know, they know very little. Myth 2. Specifically I believe that leaders create leaders not followers, so vulnerability is very important part of personality to be shown, to show empathy and understanding for coworkers. Myth 3. Change is important- there are plenty of ways to solve one problem. Open mindset is important for leaders, but not for ego. In this case we can see personality of leader and agendas underneath. Myth 4. Extrovert - not necessarily. The most important is to be ambivert. Something between. Resourceful and good expert and kind with humans, but smart and predictive in actions. Ideas were born in silence! Myth 5. Title is only for egoists the important thing. Leader is someone who drives a change and influences others in a positive way. Usually I’ve heard only title importance from arrogant bosses.
    Thanks Kara, this is really useful! I had personal myths but I saw that people usually treat others from the position of their feelings towards you so, everything you said in the video is so true. Leader creates for others, being a role model for community. What is the most important part is saving ourselves from others because of their dishonest agendas. Confidence is here very important part of survival in greedy business environment. Thank you very much again! I’m always looking for new videos where I learn a lot from you! 😊

      I love your myth no. 5. Positive leadership is so important. Leaders with egos don't build a great team or last long in the job. I'm so glad you're learning from these videos. You have such a positive attitude, Ana, I know you'll go far in your career. Thanks for watching 💖

    I'm really introvert. For past 15 years I get the same feedback from every boss I ever had - be more confident. I'm the most technical and knowledgeable person and want to be confident. But whatever I do it doesn't change.

    • @kararonin
      @kararonin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's easy for people to say, "be more confident". But in reality, building confidence can be difficult. I know this because I've had to do it myself. I do have a video which might help you out th-cam.com/video/E0X11zacWzM/w-d-xo.html. I will also think about how I can create future videos to tackle this issue.
