Tensoner:

Or - Belt and Tensioner Kit:

Does your vehicles fan belt squeal when your first start your car or truck? Even worse, does the squealing sustain itself for the entire duration of your drive? Tune in as Ed Gasket addresses what causes this problem and how to fix it!

Thats a little hissy squeal.... Mine is sounding like a hog in heat. I wish I found your video before I did the alt. I went from below to loosen the tensioner. Thanks!
Hog in heat got me good. 👍😂

In terms of compliments, that's about as good as it gets for me. Thank you

thank you Barry!!!
Thanks for the video my friend, just picked up a Ford Ranger 1999 and it has squeaking, going to try belt conditioner first, and if I have to I will replace belt
Thanks great Michael. Get to work! I hope it all works out smoothly.
nicely done
Thanks tom!
Love this guy, so funny.
Hey, thanks IDU!
Great video,! I hate those air box clips to. I keep saying ow too. LOL
They GOTTA redesign those things.
LOL, Awesome! Good job mate!
Thanks Doug!
You should use the wix deep dish filter for these, they are the best drop in filters for the 5.9 cummins. Or you can get an oem one that is also a 4in version just like the wix.
Good information! Thank you for the insight.
@@EdgasketGarage wix 49946 is the part #, I used to have that small size but it broke in half after a year of use and it restricted airflow for me
Awesome bro thanks
You bet Rich!
awesome, save me a whole day :)
Glad I could help!
Thanks! Subbed.
Awesome thank you J!
love your neighborhood and the train, where are you from?
Pennsylvania
Hilarious, new subscriber!!
Cheers Torland!
Thanks bro
Your'e Welcome Cedrick.
Ha! I have the same truck. Love that thing.
Great rigs Randee!
We have the same garage 🥺
Plenty of space!
I bought new belts and removed the old belts only to discover they were like new, not glazed or cracking. I put the old belts back on and adjusted the tension. No more squealing. I also removed both tensioners, and the bearings were smooth and quiet, so I put them back in. In fact, I took pictures of the bearing numbers, because buying bearings is much cheaper than buying another tensioner. It is also more 'environmentally friendly'. LOL.
Many times it’s simply not enough tension on the belt causing the slip/squeak. Glad yours is fixedb
@@EdgasketGarage There is a procedure for testing the tension on serpentine belts, and I just used thumb pressure, which apparently is not very accurate. 🙂
7:36 It's the Bibby-bobka song from Perfect Strangers!

🎶Just make sure you roll it slow🎶
Well, Coosin Larry rolled it fast and they all 'sploded at the end.
The End.
Whattup Stephen?! Thank for stopping
Bravo!!!
Cheers Dave!
I replaced my belt, idler pulley and tensioner. Still make noise when acceloratimg.
So is it the tensioner or the belt causing the noise? I installed the same belt, after the tensioner crapped out and installed the new tensioner only to still have a horrible squeak.
If the tensioner isn’t providing enough tension the belt will slip on all of the pulleys and squeak. Otherwise one of the pulleys is bad and also squeaking. I’d take the belt off and try to spin each pulley. You can typically feel the culprit by the way it spins.
Do you have the part # for belt and other stuff?
Belt: K081264HD
Tensioner: 910032A
you can also change the direction of the belt, that may solve your squealing noise.
Interesting..
Not
Excellent video, btw pretty sure that truck came from Indiana I recognize the Cummins logo :)
It was actually a pretty cool story I found it with the original owner. He teared up to see it go.
Aw! You are good guy!
@@EdgasketGarage
Just used a shorter belt after bypassing the a/c and replaced the tensioner, water pump, and idler pulley. Now it squeaks like a banshee for first minute and then shuts up completely. Might try conditioner and/or the Gates belt ( darn pretroleum based products $$)......
If the conditioner works then you know it’s a friction issue!
I think that's what's going on with my 2013 Town & Country can you tell me an estimate about how much something like this cost to get done at the shop because I feel like I'm always overcharged!
Doubt you’ll get out of the shop for less than 500 bucks!
Hi sir...question im putting a. New belt tenisioner....when i toghten i check belt then tenisionerm
Slips wo t stay put
Are the other pulleys spinning freely?
I actually enjoyed watching this goofy guy lol
Thanks fellow E
I have the same sound and have replaced the belt a number of times it’s not getting destroyed I bought the belts at Napa I have new tensioner new idler new fan clutch and still it’s hit or miss some days it does some days it don’t and I’m drove should I try to get the green gates belt ? The guys at Napa said this is the same one but it’s not green
When you swap the belt does it fix the issue for a short duration?
@@EdgasketGarage yes
The garage 😂
Excellent lighting and ventilation at the cost of everything else.
When you take old belt off; could you just cut the belt?
It's better practice to get a wrench on the tensioner because you're going to have to do it later anyway.
This alternator ...looks old and corroded ...
Perhaps it needed some lubrication on its bearings ... Because as it is ,it might cause too much drag and might require more torque to work adequately ...
Same thing perhaps with other components ... Like oil pump, water pump etc ...
Nice video btw
thanks for the insight gatos!
Replace my belt I replace the pulley and I replace the tensioner and I'm still getting that Tweety loud screeching sound I'm going nuts
It must be another pulley that's making the noise?
What if it still makes the noise after u change it
Then it’s one of the pulleys 👍🏼
is a squeaky belt common on a 2 year old car?
Nope!
@@EdgasketGarage Oh no. i am going to do the water test and hope it disappears. The squeak happens on startup, gets higher pitched with higher RPMs and goes away after the car warms up in about 5 minutes... fingers crossed it isnt anything worse.

Damn, why cant we be neighbors, i would pay you and give free pizza. I always have a damn car issue
Pizza is plenty
Nice ad
Thanks, T!
I got dirt on it i hope it doesnt make it squeake...lol wouldnt that be something if it did😂
Nothing a little grease can't fix!
too much wd40 for that tiny clip!🤫
Impossible
I just came back from 6 week holiday and I've noticed a squealing noise from under the hood of my car when I turn on the A/C. In normal mode with A/C off the noise isn't present, but as soon as I turn it on, the squealing noise appears. What could've been the cause for this problem to occur and what is the fix? Keep in mind my car is only 3 years old (2020) and it only has 73000 km on the clock (about 45 000 miles)...
Shoot sounds like the compressor is checking out
