Colorblindness glasses like EnChroma ones are not a scam, but people often think they are if they don’t have a correct understanding and expectations for what they do. #askdrjosh #vision #colorblind
EnChroma literally marketed their product as a fix for color blindness. They claimed their product would allow users to see a "full spectrum" or "new colors for the first time". Is that what you mean by being clear up front? Just because the product has some utility for the colorblind, does not excuse the fact EnChroma has positioned the glasses as some sort of miracle cure.
They are a scam if the company is making false, misleading claims and using dishonest marketing. I'm colorblind and was almost duped into buying these stupid glasses.
These glasses are a scam. You say that they are increase contrast, which I think is true somewhat, although it seemed to me that they give more of a tint to what you see. The problem is that the companies that make them do not advertise them in the way you are describing, they are making bold claims about how the glasses will make colorblind see normal colors, which is plain bs. The problem is with them, not the people rightfully calling them out on their claims and rigged reviews.
I think you maybe have a false interpretation of what the glasses do and what they say they do and what this video explains. Do you have some kind of personal experience with these or are you guessing?
@@newtypefuture6065 That's very not charitable of you to assume that I just made up this claims. MegaLag made a series exposing those kind of glasses, he has Color Vision Deficiency and part of the investigation included speaking with the scientist who helped to woked with Enchroma. One of the Enchroma's sponsored post was "You will see thousands of hues for the first time." Pilestone's claim was "No, there is currently no cure for colorblindness [...] These glasses give individuals with a color vision deficiency the ability to see in perfect color and are the best solution to color blindness available today." Dr. Emily Patterson said that you cannot not see new colors using those glasses because the glasses do not give you any new detectors. Professor Eva Valero said that will not give you new colors, at most they will change brightness contrast.
Yea okay bud. People pay 200$+ so they can see more contrast. That’s your stand? You really think people pay for that? People expect to see the regular vision experience because the glasses are expensive af and that’s what the adverts will have you believe. They know they’re tricking you. Stop the mental gymnastics

Paying over $200 for lenses that make everything be seen through a "red filter" or red saturation is a rip off

100% agree with @illusionofquality979 , it might not be 100% scam but still mal-advertising
