We were recently featured in a viral TH-cam video made by ‘MegaLag’, about how he claims color blind glasses are a scam. He openly questions our video of Kyuho trying Enchroma’s color blind sun glasses for the first time, along with our intentions, and our ‘relationship’ with Enchroma.
Important information we provided MegaLag when he first reached out to us was left out of his video. We will not only be sharing this missing piece, but also ALL of our email correspondence, discussing our ‘relationship’ with Enchroma (correspondence included), and answering every single one of MegaLag’s questions from his emails.
Being featured in MegaLag’s video has caused us to experience an onslaught of abusive messages, hate comments and spam on our channel. All we ask is to at least take the time to hear from both sides before passing judgement.

These are huge claims that need better research and journalistic methodology than explained. And demanding answers from strangers if you accuse them of wrongdoing is not journalism and certainly not ethical to put these specifically on blast. These questions he asked are just confimation bias. I am very critical about this uber-marketing era of the internet we are in and that's why I am not consuming Lifestyle Influencer content in general. A lot of the products Influencers promote are overpriced because of the huge Marketing Budgets. It's a huge Problem in general and it's more problematic with parasocial relationships. Yes, these glasses probably have a huge margin. So do Kylie skimpy Bikinis and Influencer make up brands. And a lot of conventional ones. But accusing someone of lying if the person had a benefit from a product is not ethical and Megalag left integrity behind to tell the Story of a "total scam" while it's obviously not black-and-white for a lot of people. I just don't want people to think this is some sort of quality research when it isn't.

I don't really care if you guys are scammers, but its a fact is these glasses do not work. It seems you don't understand what color blindness is. The human eye has cells called the cones which can understand colors. The average human eye has a 60% red sensing cones, 30% green sensing cones and 10% blue sensing cones. When you have color blindness, you have a lack of one or more of these cones. In some cases, it's just the case that your eye doesn't have as many cones as it should and in other cases your eye simply is lacking a specific color sensing cone type all together.
The idea that an external pair of glasses can make up for this deficiency is fundamentally ridiculous. When you are color blind, your eye literally cannot interpret certain types of color information. Putting on a pair of glasses cannot fix that problem (or even augment the problem) just as you cannot add color to a black and white movie by putting a pane of glass over a TV screen. Your eye just doesn't have the capacity to understand the information. In the case of the black and white movie, the information doesn't exist and in the case of your eye, it might as well not exist because your eyes are responsible for converting information into a format that your brain can understand. When you have color blindness, as far as your brain knows, the color information just doesn't exist. It's like those websites they claim that you can download RAM for your computer....

    • @johnabbottphotography
      @johnabbottphotography 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

Your first problem is that you don't know that there are a number of types of color blindness. Which is shocking, because if you did the least amount of research on it you would have known this.
Your second problem is in comparing putting on color filters to someone who can only see black and white .
People who are deuteranomaly or protanomaly have all three colors of cones, but one of those colors has mutated slightly, and it's sensitivity overlaps too much with the other .
You see, our three cones overlap a little bit, red and green more so . But in the most common types of color blindness, the red and green cones overlap a little too much.
Now I understand that you think of filters as adding colors. They do not .
In the case of a UV filter, it cuts back on UV rays. We don't see UV light, Although our eyes can be affected by it. What is important is that film can be affected by UV light . Which is why photographers used to put UV filters in front of their camera, so that blue skies would remain blue.
Buy filtering out the UV light that overwhelms film, you get more blue.
In the case of people who are the most common type of red green color blindness, the red and green overlap too much, and send confusing information to our brains our brains are constantly sorting out what colors are what, and even Auto white balancing in real time. It's a ton of information. If you add and confusion with overlapping cones, the brain doesn't know what color it is. But if you throw in a notch filter that cuts back on the point of confusion ? The brain has a much better chance of figuring out which colors are supposed to be which.
Ever noticed that when people put on their enchroma glasses, they look slightly confused for a little bit?
That's their brain literally sorting out colors. Figuring out different signals that are coming to it that it's never had before, an auto balancing the color in real time.
Once you understand how the glasses work, it becomes completely clear why people are reacting the way that they do.
But first, you have to widen your thinking, and throw out the idea that you have set filters add color.

@@johnabbottphotography I’m not quite sure why you feel the need to personally insult me in each of your comments. Yes I know which types of cones are affected by which types. But no it doesn’t, neither does megalag right now. Do you want to tell me HOW it has ‘a TON to do with everything’ in regard to this comment?
So we’ve covered the two types of the color deficiencies, I’d like to discuss one more type of color vision: Trichromatism. I’m not going to say anything rude, like ‘do you even know what that is’ or ‘something you couldn’t pronounce’ because we know you could pronounce those things.
You talk a lot about the notch filter, but are you aware that a notch filter is ONLY effective in humans with trichromatic vision? Which is so obvious when you think about it, because the cones themselves have the mutation, and the point of the comment you’re replying to. This is according to a study done by The Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Center at Medical College of Wisconsin. But it’s also wholly agreed upon by the American Optometric Association, who is quoted saying “Using specially tinted eyeglasses ... can increase some people's ability to differentiate between colors, though nothing can make them truly see the deficient color.” From the results of their later study. But I’m sure that’s just because everyone who works for the AOA must be on the board for gene-therapy, right?
Let alone the fact these glasses have been banned for use by pilots, and the FDA approval they talk about is for UV protection, and none of their tech?
Again John, if it could do it, they would have been bought out by Essilor years ago. I don’t understand why you’re pushing an obviously false narrative, and constantly insulting color blind people personally, yet attacking anyone who says something about their personal feelings on these glasses (which you state everyone has a right to) in multiple personal ways.
I hope that asking someone if they know what words mean that you pretend you can’t pronounce makes you feel smarter John. I really wish I understood what your issue was.

I don't think Kyuho lied and i don't think the story your telling now is a lie. Everything sounds legit. But Jonathan did nothing wrong. His deadline makes sense. You could have said "Hey we're on vacation right now,we do intend to reply but can you extend the deadline until we're back". Your affiliate explanation makes sense, but his investigation made sense with the information you provided. The choice to include the affiliate snippet as you did wasn't good. If you had said "hey guys we're filming this right after shooting the first part. We're super excited, we're gonna apply for the affiliate program. If we get approved that code will be right here" or just shoot another segment after you get the confirmation. You didn't DO anything nefarious or evil, but you made a weird and not great decision to shoot the way you did. Also two emails back and forth are not ridiculous. He wasnt hounding you or being unreasonable in his requests. Had he made up his mind about Enchroma, yes absolutely. But he gave you a fair chance to explain your side of the story. Or sit down for a call. Everything you are saying now, you could have said over the phone. Also you say that his video and editing choices totally validate your choice to not communicate, but your choice to not communicate was the thing he used as evidence because you didn't answer his questions. Your answering them now and it all makes sense. But how are you gonna get mad at him for misrepresenting you when you weren't representing yourself. This video is incredibly informative. Your emails weren't.

I get what you’re saying, but at the end of the day, we didn’t owe him even one email reply. We didn’t owe emailing him ‘our entire side of the story’.
Jonathon is not a licensed journalist nor a member of a legitimate press organization. He has no qualifications related to the field of journalism. After reading his emails and then finding out he’s not who he claims…we simply didn’t trust him. He’s a dude on TH-cam making videos just like we are. He’s not a journalist. That misrepresentation, along with his heavily biased and rather aggressive emails were a few too many red flags for us to continue engaging with him. Even if we had sent him everything we shared in our own video, how would we be certain he wouldn’t omit important information (like he did with our receipt/proof of purchase?) I’m no ‘investigative journalist’, but even I know that’s something that’s far too important to ‘forget’ to include. We’d likely still have to make our own video in the end regardless of what we provided him, since it was clear to us from the start he seemed to already have his mind made up about us.

@@2hearts1seoul You're right, you don't owe him or anyone an explanation. It is absolutely your right to put up your Enchroma video and just leave it there. But then why are you angry? Are you upset that he contacted you saying he was an investigative journalist (though he has no credentials or works for a news orgo) and then told a story about you? He's a content creator, just like you guys. If Enchroma responded to your affiliate request as "Thank you for your interest, but we don't work with media producers unless they are part of a recognized news organization" that would be crummy and gate keeping. Isn't the whole point of TH-cam being able to produce content that traditional media would never publish or greenlight? Like legitimately, the harassment you have suffered is ducking terrible. And yeah he definitely should have made it more clear that you provided evidence that you bought the product on your own. But to be completely fair, a screen shot of an order confirmation is not a proof of purchase. Like yeah as a lay person that probably would've been good enough for me, but they aren't the same thing and if someone pushed me on that I'd think "oh yeah i guess the proof of purchase is more legit". Like i had a warranty claim with Jabra, and i had to provide them with a screenshot of my order confirmation and then as they continued the investigation, i had to also send them a copy of the invoice. It was only after they had the invoice with all the other details, that they rejected my claim.
So yeah I don't understand why you are angry. I understand that the harassment has really ducked up yer life and that's awful. I'm sorry that is happening and i hope this video alleviates that. But Jonathan didn't do anything wrong. In my opinion he doesn't need to have a certificate to do a project on TH-cam, anymore than someone needs a science or engineering degree to do a project in their backyard. Its not like he's claiming to be a medical doctor or lawyer and then giving bogus medical or legal advice.

As a color deficient person myself I can tell that all of the "emotional" videos with the glasses for color blindness are fake. Why? Those glasses are color filters that e.g. for protanopia reduces the amount of blue and green light, thus increasing the red light ratio (but not the brightness!) allowing to distinguish between some (not all) colors that look same or almost same for a protan. Overall the glasses reduce the brightness and saturation (it is just a filter, it filters out light) so the world looks less bright and colorful when you put the glasses on. So yea, you only can cry out of disappoinment, how dark and reddish the reality really is.

  • @aneng64
    @aneng64 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +102

The glasses do not work as advertised. Even the most basic understanding of the function of rods and cones in the retina tells you that they CANNOT work. You CANNOT make a defective receptor respond to frequencies it cannot respond to - no matter what filters you stick in front of it !!! Every independent professional review of these glasses by experts worldwide come to the SAME conclusion. Enchroma are preying on people's misery and, intentionally or not, you are helping them do this. Kyuho may genuinely believe the world is supposed to look the way he sees it when wearing those glasses, but it isn't, and he isn't seeing anything like true colour when wearing them, no matter how much you and he may want it to be true. I've studied colour vision all my life. Maybe one day a gene-therapy solution might be found, but as of now, colour deficiency is completely untreatable, and that is the cold, hard truth - whether you like it or not.

If your color blind, your entire life people are explaining to you what colors different things are. So you know that grass is supposed to be green. You know that stop sign is supposed to be red. The car you drive? That's supposed to be red too. So your brain knows what colors all these things are supposed to be, but they all look the same.
Now imagine as you put on the glasses, your brain starts sorting out all the colors. And as colors widen into their different categories, you realize the balloon is the same color as the grass so that must be green. And you realize the other balloon, which looks completely different is the color that you've never seen before. And you suddenly realize it's not the color of the sky, not the color of the grass, but it looks like the color of your car which is in the background right now. Get it? You're using all the references that you're bringing his built up for its entire life.

I've struggled with color blindness my entire life. I’ll explain my personal experiences with colors and the Enchroma Protan Outdoor Glasses. It’s a little hard for me to speak about colors since I probably don’t know what a specific color is supposed to actually look like.
I took the Enchroma color blind test on-line. Test results showed a strong deficiency in red color tone. A Red-Green color blindness called Protan.
An example of what I see:
Green without Enchroma glasses: Dark green trees look brown. Bright green grass looks green/orange. A bright green light looks yellow.
Red without Enchroma glasses: Red is very dark and dull. I can barely see red ribbons in a dark green Christmas tree. From afar, red in traffic signs look black or very dark dull red.
Blue, Pink, & Purple without Enchroma glasses: I have a hard time distinguishing between these colors. I blame my inability to see red well. If you mix red with blue, you get purple. So, blue and purple look very similar to me. Mixing red with white, makes pink. Not sure why, but pink can pass for blue or purple to me.
I have a pair of Enchroma outdoor Protan glasses. The following is my personal experience when wearing the Enchroma glasses:
Red with Enchroma glasses: When I first put the glasses on, I was shocked at how vibrant red was. While driving, red cars popped. Some red cars almost look bright orange. The red background in “Stop” signs really popped out. Same for the “No Right Turn” sign, the red circle and red line going through the arrow stood out. I was surprised.
Green with Enchroma glasses: Sad to say, no improvement. Maybe a tiny bit.
Blue, Pink, & Purple with Enchroma glasses: Little impact. These colors look a tiny bit more vibrant. But, I still can’t say if something is Blue, Pink or Purple confidently.
    Enchroma Color blind test results:
Without Enchroma Glasses: Strong deficiency in red color tone. Red-Green color blindness called Protan. Blue 100%, Green 75%, Red 0%.
With Outdoor Enchroma Protan Glasses: Strong deficiency in green color tone. Red-Green color blindness called Duetan. Blue 100%, Green 37%, Red 75%.
Summary: For me personally, the Enchroma glasses did not cure my color blindness 100%. But, I do like the glasses because it makes red so much more vibrant. I can now understand why red is used in signs and other things meant to grab someone's attention.

I have a similar condition. Your description of colors mostly matches mine, but I think my red is not that dull, call me a moderate Protan. From me, dark green is indistinguishable from brown, grass could pass for creamy orange, and bright green lights are yellowish to me. I also have a hard time telling blue apart from purple (blame red deficiency), and dull pink almost looks like grey. Pure reds I can tell they are reds (stop signs, coke cans), but they are not as bright to me as people say red actually is. What you are describing as the effect of your enChroma glasses on you perfectly matches the effect of my 15 dollar brownish-red-tinted sunglasses: red cars are almost bright orange, as well as stop signs, I can distinguish SOME different kind of foliage (more reddish, yellowish or different kind of greens that I couldn't tell apart naturally), but I definitely have no general improvement over greens or purples. So, at least to this particular condition, seems like enChroma glasses perform no much better that normal tinted shades.

I saw that video & was shocked by it. Even more shocking was the comments reinforcing the video's comment (except for mine). I have a different firsthand experience. According to tests, I am not colorblind, but the glasses provide enhanced vision for me, increasing color but also enhancing contrast.
The eye doctor seems a bit confused. He refers to "Chromagen" as being the same as Enchroma? Enchroma is unique in using the "notch filter". All the others (Chromagen, Pilestone, Vino Optics, Colorlite), work by suppressing the green relative to red. This causes reds & greens to look different, but only in brightness. In appearance, the glasses look red or purple. While this allows one to see Ishihara plates, it destroys white balance & does not produce true red/green sensation.
The "indoor glasses" that Logan Paul was using is Enchroma's "CX-65" indoor lens. This lens was the "weakest" lens that Enchroma made (now discontinued). This lens was much less tinted than the indoor Grayson glasses you have. Several other people noted that the CX-65 lens didn't give him the greens, but was satisfied with the darker-tinted lens. The lens he is using in video is CX25, darker, but still not as dark as the sunglass you have.

Hi, great question! I asked Kyuho, and he said when he puts his glasses on, he doesn’t really notice much of a tint-just certain colors (especially red and orange, and certain shades of green) jump out at him that he has a hard time with when he’s not wearing the glasses. I (Sarah) have tried on his Enchroma glasses plenty of times, and as someone with normal color vision, I notice a slight pink-ish tint, but nothing obnoxious or over the top at all. I definitely notice the reds and greens are SUPER saturated when I put them on as a ‘normal vision’ person. We can’t speak for other colorblind glasses (we’ve only ever tried Enchroma), but I’m guessing it really differs by the brand when it comes to the possibility of having super red/pink tinted lenses.

When I originally saw your video of Kyuho's first experience with the Enchroma sunglasses I was so moved I immediately went online and ordered several pairs for my colorblind sons. One was skeptical and the other had tried them on many years ago but couldn't afford them. They loved the glasses and said colors were much more vivid for them and they could distinguish differences they couldn't see before. So thank you for exposing me to Enchroma!

Hi guys! I just saw what that MegaLag posted about Kyuho's colorblind experience. Did he even get consent from you both before he shared it on his channel? Perhaps you guys can get some legal advise looking at how upset you both are from his posting and how this guy is trying to slander Kyuho about his colorblindness. There is such thing as Cyber defamation law in Korea and it is treated as a tort (meaning a civil case where you sue him for compensation). Keep in mind, as long as MegaLag has that post up, it continues to slander you guys by the "day". I posted on his site mentioning cyber defamation law. The longer he keeps that post up, it can equal more compensation. The wise thing for MegaLag to do is to take down the post immediately. Your evidence trail has been your vlogs that I just viewed. You guys wasted your time trying to correct any falsehoods that guy posted against you and you guys couldn't eat, sleep which affected your mental status and health and prevented further work on your usual contents. I hope you guys will look into legal advice. I used to be low keyed as well until I sued my former employer (a very large entity) and reached a settlement. It looks like Kyuho just may have a good case and your vlogs are your evidence. In my case, my e-mails was my evidence. I always told myself that I would hate to see people in my shoes when you've done nothing wrong. Little did people know the low keyed me opened up pandoras box for 55,000 employees and management had to be retrained. My settlement was small but my message was taken seriously. I wish you guys much rest after this and luck in whatever you guys do. (Also, I watched your video twice, and it made me so angry that this happened to both of you.)

The glasses don't work, its just science. Glasses can't fix the anatomy of your eye. Your husband crying and getting emotional I can believe was genuine and he might have been believing his glasses were helping him see color but they weren't, because the science doesn't support it. The problematic part about that reaction is that it perpetrates the belief that the glasses do work and that is the scummy part because those glasses are a scam product. I know you say they work for him, but it's just like those Power Balance bracelets (you can Google that, it's a fun topic), it a placebo effect on your husband where a product that does nothing he believes works for him.
With that being said, MegaLag was being really unfair to you and being super scummy. You aren't a corporation, you are normal people, and he did not portray you fairly. He should have been fully transparent with your email correspondence and at least make an attempt in his video to not ask his fans to harass you. You don't deserve that.
Do yourself a favor and distance yourself from Enchroma, don't double down on the merits of their product like you did at the end of this video cause that's not gonna end well for you. You are a content creator, your credibility is everything, if you continue to associate yourself with a scam, then there will always be backlash. MegaLag is not a saint either as your video proves, but he did expose a scam industry and the public will side with him. Hope you can move on from this, sorry to hear about your cat.

"The glasses don't work, its just science. Glasses can't fix the anatomy of your eye. "
You don't know science if that's your opinion. Clearly, you haven't researched this.
The glasses don't change the anatomy of your eyes. In all fairness, I made the same mistake that you did in not researching it.
      1) Did you know that there were 3 NIH grants in the creation of the glasses. If "science doesn't support it", then why did the NIH keep funding it?
      2) Why do photographers who are shooting film put a UV filter on their cameras? (Answer: because film is sensitive to UV light, and without the filter, you get 'too much' UV light in the sky areas. It basically overpowers the sky.) I start there so that you understand that filters can help cut back on areas of spectrum that are causing trouble to the device recieving the information.
In this case, the device is your eye, and your red (L) and green (M) cones are overlapping too much, causing your brain to see things as browns and yellows, instead of green and red. But if you cut out some of the overlap with a notch filter, it allows the brain to figure out which things are actually red, and which are green. It takes time, and it will never be as accurate as someone with "normal" vision. But if you're red green colorblind, with roughly 80% of folks, its a godsend.
      3) Now let's talk about the "science". I presume you meant the 2 studies that MegaLag presented. Right?
Would you consider a scientific study tainted if the vast majority of study participants in a study about leg braces had no legs?
      I'll start there.

The media in general has stopped pursuing (non-political) investigations, so it leaves it up to individuals to do journalism.

I understand why people advise content creators to ignore negative or biased or worse, flagrant lies, but to have one's integrity questioned is infuriating. Throw in a smidge of slurs, misogyny and general derogatory comments directed at you; not hard to predict actions of keyboard warriors and trolls.

    • @to-mi1949
      @to-mi1949 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Do you know how colorblindness works?
Colorblindness means you don't have some receptors in your eyes that are responsible for seeing certain colors.
Putting on a pair of glasses won't help because you are still lacking those receptors.
It's impossible for you to see colors you don't have receptors for.

    • @johnabbottphotography

      @@to-mi1949
First of all, I made the exact same mistake as you did. So I have to ask you to listen just a tiny bit, and pretend like maybe you don't know what you think you know.
      And I say that, because I didn't.
First - understand that color is all about perception. Our brain is taking the data from those three "tuned" color receptor cones in our eyes, and changing that into the data that we see as color.
Second, understand that the glasses are a filter. The can either be blocking filters (letting through only one kind of light) or exclusionary filters (letting through all light, except for one tiny part of the spectrum), which we might think of as a notch filter.
There are certain kinds of colorblindness.
ONE of those types is when you don't have the color cones of that color (red / green / blue, for sake of simplicity).
But the most common type is where the color receptors don't sit on the spectrum where they are supposed to be. They all overlap just a tiny bit. But imagine, now, that you have two color receptors that are overlapping more than they are supposed to.
So instead of getting the data of "green" or the data of "red", you get both data at the same time... which your brain interprets as a brown.
      Get it?
Now imagine that there was a way to cut out that area where the receptors overlap too much. Where you could stop the confusion of those two sensors overlapping?
Like... if you could create some kind of a... notch filter... that would block mostly the color in that area where they overlap?
Your brain would be able to better interpret all of the colors. Because the "confusion" area is greatly reduced.
That's what Enchroma lenses to. They reduce the light in the area that would normally confuse your eyes.

The glasses darken and lighten (or block altogether) certain shades of color in order to make the primary colors more distinguishable. In that sense, it is certainly possible for them to relieve some of the problems with colorblindness--namely, telling certain colors apart from one another. Someone who has trouble distinguishing between reds and greens, for example, would find it helpful to have glasses that absorb green wavelengths, thus making greens much darker and more distinguishable from reds. By blocking the wavelengths that are most easily confused by photoreceptors, these glasses simplify the job that the brain has to perform when interpreting color. Thus, certain new shades of color could be identified (because a new combination of color is being seen). However, it is physically impossible for these glasses to "fix" colorblindness in the sense that is generally advertised. I'm not saying the glasses don't perform a useful function or have any scientific merit; I'm saying they don't restore perfect color vision as advertised. As an aside, it is generally understood that women are more likely to see additional shades of colors than men, due to having more cones. My mom can see certain stars in the night sky (she says they're purplish) that I can't see. That doesn't mean I dismiss her experience just because I can't experience it myself. But at the same time, wearing these glasses isn't going to help me see the extra stars that my Mom can detect.

We only found this: “NOTICE: EnChroma lenses are an assistive device intended to aid color perception and improve color discrimination, but do not give the wearer normal color vision.”
We aren’t sure of other brands, however, as we have no experience with them. Kyuho has red/green colorblindness, and these glasses have helped him a lot. He says different types of green pop out at him that he couldn’t see before, but red was the real shocker for him. As someone who has enchroma glasses, they've helped me identify traffic lights during the night. While they don't "cure" colorblindness at a fundamental level, they can be very helpful under the right circumstances. As mentioned, in this video, there are different types of colorblindness and you need find the right glasses.
I personally have severe red-green colorblindness and live in a very rural area (that is to say its very dark as there's not much light pollution). And it's quite difficult to distinguish traffic light colors at night for me. Yes, you can tell which one is lit not just by the color but also by it's position. But where I live, it sometimes too dark at night to see the actual position of the light that's lit in relation to the unlit lights and my own car is quite low to the ground and, if I get close enough, the headlights don't actually light the traffic light casing. I just see a glowing light of some sort in the darkness but I cannot tell if it's red or green or if it's top or bottom unless I came upon the light during the yellow transition and I can see it switching places then. Obviously, since I live in the countryside, there is also a lot of deer, and it's sub-optimal to keep my eyes on the lights 100 percent of the time when there's the entire rest of the road to pay attention to as well.
The glasses, in my case, do allow me to actually differentiate the red and green lights at night even without knowing the "position" and without needing to see the yellow one flash beforehand. Everyone's eyes are different, but the enchroma glasses have worked well for me. Again, everyone's eyes are different and you should try on the glasses before buying them if possible. The place I got them from did allow me to try them and they took me out to their garden where they obviously had flowers. And it made it a lot easier for me to differentiate between purple and blue flowers as I could see the red in the purple flowers better, which is what allowed me to differentiate them from the blue. I was still largely unsure of my answers just because I have always been unconfident in my color identification and I answered without a lot of confidence, but out of the 15 or so flowers they showed me, I only mis-identified the color of one of them because it was more in-between blue and purple and I got a little confused because I felt like I was seeing some red in it but not enough to call it purple. And I kind of lacked an accurate vocabulary for the colors in-between blue and purple at the time.
Again, the glasses aren't magic but they can be useful.
It should also be noted, they have glasses with different levels of "correction." (I have both a low gain and a high gain version of the lenses, though I tend to use the high gain ones as my red-green deficiency is very severe) And again, it is important to remember it is correction, and not curing. The same way your normal focal lenses are correction for your eyes but do not fundamentally fix them. And again, there is calibration that goes into that to make sure your focal lenses work for you. You are still colorblind when wearing these glasses. And there are times you will still be confused, especially with objects that might lack a significant amount of saturation. But overall, I have found they work very well for me.

Wow, thanks so much for sharing your experience. I used to live in a more rural area in Canada when I was a young kid, and it was so DARK at night without that light pollution. Even having normal vision you often feel uneasy driving in the pitch dark, plus we (in our area at least) would have to be extra mindful about porcupines, raccoons, and deer suddenly crossing the roads. I can’t even imagine having the added anxiety of severe red-green colorblindness when driving in those conditions and having to worry about the traffic light colors.
You’re dead on. I have no clue where all this “These glasses CURE colorblindness” idea came from-or why people are claiming we said this…but we’ve certainly never said such a thing in any of our videos. There’s nothing out there that can cure colorblindness (at this time anyway). We’ve also said time and time again in our videos that these glasses work differently for everyone (due to the different types and severity of colorblindness) and may not work at all for some people.
Kyuho said the most profound thing for him is how the color red looks when wearing the glasses. He was shocked at how bright it is and how it ‘glows’ (his words.) He describes ‘his’ red without the glasses as a dark, dull-ish brown, so he said it was like a completely new color for him.
That’s fantastic to hear that they work well for you and make you feel at least a little safer and more at ease when driving on really dark nights.

@2hearts1seoul The red has definitely stood out a lot to me as well. I have a little Bluetooth speaker that I know is red because the packaging labeled it as red. But it looked more brownish to me until I got my glasses. Similarly, I've also found things like yellow soap look more vibrant as well with the additional red stack with the already vibrant green.
As well as that, my quantum dot Samsung TV is also extraordinarily vibrant in the red and yellows. And that TV by itself already has excellent red presentation even without the glasses.
It's pretty nice as red has been my favorite color for a long time even before I got the enchroma glasses. And I've only grown to love red even more after buying them. And I'm happy that Kyuho can enjoy red as much as I do.

I remember watching the video of Kyuho trying on the glasses for the first time and could tell his reaction was 100% real and sincere. It's incredibly sad that you both recieved such hateful comments and even had to make a video like this explaining yourselves. MegaLag's email felt like an interrogation from the start and wasn't fully shown in his own video of how he wrote to you both! I hope this settles down soon and you two can move on from it ❤Stay strong 🍀

When I watched your video of him being able to see vibrant colors for the first time, I also cried. I've watched the original video, and I've watched this response, and while it does seem like he left out some details regarding his encounter with this channel, and while it does seem that these glasses might work for _some_ people, that still doesn't invalidate all the other shady stuff he mentions in his video, like obviously fake reactions (the one with the colors written on the balloons, Logan Paul), false medical research, negative review suppression etc
If anything, the money hungry, clout-chasing, inconsiderate parties are the company behind this and the people falsifying information to get a buck out of it, even if this channel is genuine

There would be ways to make powerful emotional content without shilling for some company. I think it's not fair of you to mix these together.
It is a common practice to not mention or even hide the brand names if you want to talk about a type of product in general. They could have said "Here we have one of these so-called color-correcting glasses" or something like that... Made sure to film it in such a way that the name of the brand is not visible, or tape over it.
They did not take any such steps and they even put in an affiliate link. It is a certain line they crossed and crossing this line opens them up to a whole different level of scrutiny. Maybe you think it's unfair that it hit them, but think about the big picture, surely you will agree that this is a distinction that is important.

Despite his "journalist's" threats of legal action if you report his video, you yourself may have the right to legal action. Journalists are not immune to slander and libel in the US. I have seen several times that legitimate news sources have had to make public retractions when they report incorrectly. He could be forced to make a public retraction, but it may not be worth the legal fees and emotional toll.
