@Sisyphus you see, the fundamental point of categorising something is to distinguish it from something else. if a rational decision is also deemed as automatic, then the definition of freewill is wrong(or pointless) in my view. That definition doesn't give us any new knowledge/information. This is fundamental of information theory. A statement/categorization has informational value only if there are multiple options possible. if there is only one option (there is no option), then there is no information and such language construct/definition is self deceiving. The person could make a logical choice thinking about what the "asker" is expecting. "May be I shall take from lower middle because that will look very random and unpredictable to the other guy". That thought might be true or might be false, that's immaterial. He does have a well thought out decision there based on his mental model. So, if we want to talk about freewill, then the possibility of freewill must exist by definition. if we define it in a way that it will not exist in the universe for any being, then it is pointless and bogus.
further more, just because there is unconcious processing doesn't mean there is no free will. The unconscious processing could take into account the previous perceptive memories and the thinkers mental model of the universe. Thats why we are learning machines. Any decision made on the basis of learned things as well... it is not fully automatic. at the very least, a portion of it is thought out. surely if we say that perception is also hallucination based on limited information, then again, no point of such discussion. we don't even know if we live in a simulation run my someone else. this is just philosophical pitfall where we get trapped. I think the key is to define freewill in a useful way first.

I am not and i am fine to start off saying that you are better than me. Its about having a meaningful discussion to bounce ideas. So, lets put that aside and come to what actually matters. You said that freewill is an illusion. Yes, that illusion is named as "freewill". If you say that concious processing is emergent from unconcious activities of brain and therefore freewill is meaningless, then we wont get anywhere. All logical processing of brain is the after effect of a lot of unconcious activity. Does that mean consiousness is meaning less? If thats the argument, then it is an issue about meaningful and useful definition of the word. The feeling of self perception as a free agent and the feeling of free choice is to be defined as conciousness and freewill respectively. Yes it originates from chemicals and electrical activity which generates that feeling and thats fine because thats what i am. That is the definition of "me".

അദ്ദേഹം ആ നിമിഷം തന്നെ തെറ്റ് തിരുത്തിയതാണ്. പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത് മുസ്ലിം സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രാകൃത സംസ്കാരത്തെ പൊതുസമൂഹത്തിന്റെ മുന്നിൽ തുറന്നു കാട്ടുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു മാത്രമാണ്.

@Sisyphus you see, the fundamental point of categorising something is to distinguish it from something else. if a rational decision is also deemed as automatic, then the definition of freewill is wrong(or pointless) in my view. That definition doesn't give us any new knowledge/information. This is fundamental of information theory. A statement/categorization has informational value only if there are multiple options possible. if there is only one option (there is no option), then there is no information and such language construct/definition is self deceiving. The person could make a logical choice thinking about what the "asker" is expecting. "May be I shall take from lower middle because that will look very random and unpredictable to the other guy". That thought might be true or might be false, that's immaterial. He does have a well thought out decision there based on his mental model. So, if we want to talk about freewill, then the possibility of freewill must exist by definition. if we define it in a way that it will not exist in the universe for any being, then it is pointless and bogus.
further more, just because there is unconcious processing doesn't mean there is no free will. The unconscious processing could take into account the previous perceptive memories and the thinkers mental model of the universe. Thats why we are learning machines. Any decision made on the basis of learned things as well... it is not fully automatic. at the very least, a portion of it is thought out. surely if we say that perception is also hallucination based on limited information, then again, no point of such discussion. we don't even know if we live in a simulation run my someone else. this is just philosophical pitfall where we get trapped. I think the key is to define freewill in a useful way first.

You said tactic. Thats relevant only when someone is competing. I am not and i am fine to start off saying that you are better than me. Its about having a meaningful discussion to bounce ideas. So, lets put that aside and come to what actually matters.
You said that freewill is an illusion. Yes, that illusion is named as "freewill". If you say that concious processing is emergent from unconcious activities of brain and therefore freewill is meaningless, then we wont get anywhere. All logical processing of brain is the after effect of a lot of unconcious activity. Does that mean consiousness is meaning less? If thats the argument, then it is an issue about meaningful and useful definition of the word. The feeling of self perception as a free agent and the feeling of free choice is to be defined as conciousness and freewill respectively. Yes it originates from chemicals and electrical activity which generates that feeling and thats fine because thats what i am. That is the definition of "me".
