    Just placed an order! I'm not Mormon or Ex-Mormon, but I'm so excited to read this! I was involved in a different religious practice but I have some religious trauma. Even though they're different religions, your videos make me feel so much more confident in my decision to keep myself and my daughter out of my old church and live my life on my terms.❤️

      Again, you don’t have to answer if you don’t want, but I know the Mormon church calls itself Christian, even though almost all other Christians disagree with that idea, so I was just curious how you think about Christianity after leaving the Mormon church

      @hannahbarrett1221 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@charlesmendeley9823 uhhh? I’m not really sure what you’re asking here… There are not “so many” different church of Christ. It’s all the same branch as each other. All the church’s that say “church of Christ” teach the same things. We even used to have state wide rally’s that all the different “churches of Christ” would travel to one big place for a huge gathering together once or twice a year.
      As for the specific message- we didn’t focus on any one specific prophet or message. There were several different ones we learned about but the majority of it all boiled down to “you will never get into heaven no matter what you do or don’t do because you’re a human and inherently bad just by existing… but here are some awful and strict rules to follow anyway. Just in case you do get in!” 🤣
      Edit because I also wanted to add that while we DID go on missions still, all of the missionaries at my church only ever went to the same place: Honduras. Every. Single. Time. EVERYONE went to Honduras. And I have no idea why 😅

      Usually like exmos, "backsliders" are rejecting some organization's traditions and wrong doctrine. I've had the pleasure of being a friend to an unusually large portion of people with both stories, and when we go into the nitty gritty wounds and what worldview they are actually rejecting, not one of them has understood the gospel. When you get the time and the emotional energy (remember, Christ is the Lord of the Sabbath; and Israel was told to let the land rest or God would remove the from His land and it would get rest without them. Very important for your health, please make sure you rest and recover.), I hope you will dive into your curiosity to learn about what it really is. You have a natural instinct to know when something is not in line with the truth or else you wouldn't have identified and rejected a false gospel. Solomon wrote in Proverbs that it's God's glory to conceal a secret, and that it's the glory of kings to search it out. That emotional intuition and discernment to know what's NOT true??? Well that is a really powerful gift, and I hope you flex those discerning muscles on the Gospel again once they're all rested up. The truth is clouded up by so many denominations and so many parrots who may read but don't really study. They can interpolate, but not extrapolate, and that leads to enforcing unlawful doctrines and living really harshly towards one another. That's one of the biggest things the Pharisees did, cause church hurt by false teaching and wrong living, which Jesus constantly criticized them for. They were in the wrong. The missed the mark and forgot the SPIRIT and PURPOSE of the law, and many similar groups today do that with the Gospel. I've been ground up by a few of those churches myself. Anyways, that's all I really wanted to say. Many have been in your shoes, including myself; and my crises led me to such a beautiful life and development in my walk with Christ (and away from those kinds of churches). ❤ I hope that wasn't too much to read and that you have a wonderful season of rest from whatever wounds are still hurting.

      @@FDroid01 It's convenient that people can study a book their whole life, but those who disagree with what it says just 'didn't understand it'. Very convenient.

    • @FDroid01
      @FDroid01 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bleepbloop101010101 I know what you're getting at. "Trust the science" but anyone who listens to real scientists is a conspiracy theorist. It is a valid point and a reasonable concern. I am explaining here, not blaming. I'm not trying to say, "You didn't study hard enough." I'm trying to say, "Yeah, I see this all the time and it sucks. These are some similar stories I have, and this is how I see them normally play out." I'm big on sharing information. It's not convenient that people are misled or earnestly misunderstand. I'm speaking again as someone who studies Scripture almost constantly and has had numerous experiences with people having that kind of crisis. There are Christians in Mormon households and Christians in the Catholic church, but those organizations are not Christian. These crises come from wrongly equivocating false teachings with the truth of the Bible. This wrestle with God is experienced as a crisis because they are not familiar enough with the Gospel to refute those false teachings, and usually the communities that organized these individuals' lives have done it in a way that makes believing the gospel materially and emotionally costly. The Manual isn't wrong. It's the drunk old shop teacher that tells you the Manual calls for AC power instead of DC so he can laugh at you when it blows up. Somehow it entertains a false teacher even though he's the one who misled you and made you unsolder the rectifier. If you understand the Gospel and leave it anyway, you're a statistical anomaly but you won't have a crisis or deconstruction. If you leave a false organization for their false teaching because you know sound teaching, you won't have a crisis. You know what to do with that sense in your soul that something there isn't right. It hurts but you'll just find a Biblical church and maybe start to teach. It's leaving false teaching because it's false, WHILE being under the presumption that you're actually leaving the truth, that causes someone to experience this kind of crisis. I've experienced them before too. So I have personal experience, confidential experience, and a fairly decent grasp on available research about this stuff. (I'm smart and most likely autistic. I know it's not normal to gather information that obsessively or to be that obsessed with accuracy. There's the explanation haha 😆) My comment is well-intentioned and well-informed, just like I'm sure yours is as well. I just honestly see these crises work out how I explained, and would have appreciated if someone told me back when I had my crises. ❤ This tired vet is falling asleep, so may God bless you sweetly and I hope you all have a lovely night.

    I investigated the church for over a year, going every Sunday, making new friends within the church, and making lasting friendships with many missionary Elders and Sisters. I was drawn to the wholesomeness of it all, the structure, the members and their families are all such amazing people, there was such an innocent quality about everything but I knew there was more to it than that.
    I knew the church controlled your life and every aspect of it.
    I didn't join because every time I was asked: Do you know that the church and the Book Of Mormon are true and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God? My answer was: I don't know.
    Also, I didn't think I would be able to live up to the level of perfectionism in my daily life that would have been required of me.

    I'm so happy that Ex-Mormons are sticking together, supporting each other and getting to share their stories worldwide. When I heard someone was Mormon I never really knew what that meant until I started seeing all of these stories. Come to find out my girlfriend (who is gay and Asian) was raised Mormon! The Utah Mormon lifestyle is often the only kind of life these sheltered people see. It's not right to indoctrinate & isolate children and young adults, instill deep guilt & shame, and keep them from the workings of the real world. This leads them to believe they have no choices if they want to get into heaven. The amount of shame purposely instilled into every single Mormon is heartbreaking. Especially the girls and women who are led to believe the ONLY worthy life is one dedicated to the church, their husband, and many children.

    Congrats on the publish, Ally, you're an author! I've been frustrated about Mormonism because I've had so many friends who had left that false church. I've even been considering moving to Utah to start a Christian church that teaches the Gospel with respect for how the "temple" twists the meanings of so many things (for example what a testimony is).

    The prankster in me would want to hide your book in mormon libraries. Even if it's a 1 out of a 100,000 chance of someone finding the book, reading it, and never reporting it, hey at least it helped someone.

      @alyssadgrenfell I have no doubt that the entire book is a great read, and I'm so excited about it!! I've never been Mormon, but left my own Catholic-based cu|+ and eventually fell down the Mormon rabbit hole hardcore. I always look forward to your content (and to engaging with the angry Mormons in the comments lmao). Seeing you shine as you live your life as it was intended gives me immense joy. You're amazing!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

    Mormonism seems to be like a prison. Countless rules and no freedom. When members leave, they have to navigate a new world which leads to an appreciation of life and freedom.
