I decided to quit my addiction because after... doing the thing, I always felt an indescribable sense of shame, disgust and self loathing.
What is the science behind this?
Why do things seem desirable before and seem repulsive after orgasm? What causes that change of view?
Is it because the brain regains it's ability to judge and make decisions clearly?
I've done some research on this "post-nut clarity" but I'm by no means an expert.
It could be a crash from all the pleasure hormones during the act. You get so high your brain tries to find a way to regulate itself. It could be ingrained trauma from one's childhood too, lots of factors coming together. But so I hear it happens to men and women after masturbating or sexual intercourse with a partner.

Like this video says, it's a complex process, and if there's anything missing then the whole thing falls through -- and in particular, stress often messes things up! (But with women, there's an additional factor -- they need the RIGHT KIND of physical stimulation, which varies from one woman to the next, and if you're not familiar with the kind of stimulation YOUR woman requires, and/or you don't have the skill to give it to her, then you're unlikely to give her this, unless you get lucky!)

I don’t understand how after learning how pleasurable and positively emotional all this is meant to be, I still have a strong fear of intimacy. I don’t know what causes it. I crave intimacy, including sex, but even a hug (or learning someone wants to initiate one) can make me feel tense. I wish I knew why and that it wasn’t like this
Intimacy should be feared/respected/not taken lightly, it has major consequences and effects for both men and women, which own modern media landscape tries to make us ignore / forget. People far to often mistake lust for love/bonding/commitment. Our brain stem and limbic brains both's primary objective is to pass on our DNA and not really care about how that effects us. Only the logic outer brains neocortex restrains us from being like rabbits, because somewhere deep in our conscience we know that intimacy without looking for long term commitment detrimentally impacts our chances of being able to make that commitment in subsequent attempts at finding a healthy long term stable mutually beneficial relationship. Too much lust fueled intimacy reduces oxytocin / vasopressin's ability to bond us to other people because like all drugs/substances, our brain builds up tolerance / resistance to them. Best wishes.

Well if you have sex with someone and with some time passing, if you feel like you magically "like" someone more after having sex, it's not soley the person what would make you think of them, it would be like a reward given for a random loot box. Instead of being being attractive to the specific loot in the box, your getting hooked on specifically "random loot box".
