I also have State of Fear by Michael Crichton, I have been meaning to read it. I love his Jurassic Park books so I wanted to try one of his other books.
I've also decided to read through the Anne series this fall/winter! I am currently reading Anne of Avonlea and just enjoying every page of it! Ever since you mentioned The Oath last fall and described the atmosphere in which you read it, I have been wanting to read it. So, when I found it at a thrift store this summer, I was thrilled!! It is on my cart to be read sometime this fall! And, if you don't mind, I think I may copy your simmer to help set the mood for reading it! :) I, too, read the This Present Darkness duology in High School. Those two books stuck with me for a long time!!
One of these days I want to revisit Ted Dekker's books. Before booktube I always said he was one of my faves, but I've read SO much more in the last 5 years and now I wonder if I still would like his books. I just so rarely reread. haha. Someday.
I'm really hoping to read Shirley myself this year yet. I love Jane Eyre though, so I might be a little more motivated than you haha. I enjoyed the audiobook for The Host, so that might be a good option for getting through that one ;) I definitely feel the autumn vibes with all of the books you've picked out! Also really looking forward to your readathon!
I’ve wanted to read A Monster Calls for a while too! It seems like a great fall read. You might like Dracula! My husband isn’t much of a classic person and he loves it. The format is very unique for classics - lots of letters, journal entries and newspaper articles. I just finished Jurassic Park and LOVED it! I’m not a huge sci fi person, but I loved the science in it. I’d love to read more Michael Crichton now. Yessss, Hey Readerathon! When you did the first one last October, it was the first readathon I’d ever participated in. I have such fond memories ❤️
Great list! I hope you like Dracula, I really enjoyed it! It's written in such a unique way. Glad to see you're continuing on with Anne as well! Windy Poplars is written in letters, so it's a little different from the rest. But still good! One of my favorite series of all time. I picked up The Host on the free summer reads table at our library but I haven't read it yet, so I'm interested to hear what you think!Enjoy your fall reads!
ohh I hope you like The Host! I might need to reread that one!! Looks like a great fall stack! We are leaving for the beach for 2 weeks on Saturday so I am still in summer reading mode but will make the switch when I get back!

I love your videos so much and appreciate your book lists. I’m so curious about your reading times… when is your favourite time in the day to read, how long do you read each day?
Aww, thank you! I read in little spurts whenever I can find time. Usually a bit when the littles are napping and a bit before bed. And then I listen to an audiobook when I'm driving or running errands by myself.
Also currently reading :"Cheaper by the Dozen" (loving this) and "The Meeting Place" by Janette Oke & T.Davis Bunn. I am challenging myself to finish these both by End of week....which would be super easy if I felt more motivated toward "The Meeting Place". I loved Janette Oke in my youth/teenager days but I have not enjoyed a lot of them on re-read except the "love comes softly" series. My daughter wants me to read it and for her I am trying.
The Hijacked book looks awesome 🤣 I’ve never read Dracula (I’ve actually never read any vampire book) and I’m very curious to hear your thoughts on it! Yay for a This Present Darkness reread!!! You've never read The Oath?! Ooh, I need to hear your thoughts. I don't think I'm going to end up re-reading it, I think I'll need more time between the re-reads than just a year.
This is a fantastic list!!! I haven't read Shirley but I've struggled with some of Charlotte Bronte's other works (though I do love Jane Eyre). I was a little surprised that The Thirteenth Tale wasn't on the list so I have to recommend that one...which now I want to reread...
Oh, I forgot about The Thirteenth Tale, it's sitting on a pile in my office . . . I just have a feeling I'm not going to like that one but if Anne likes it . . . I should too, right?

I wasn't a big fan of Rebecca - I was bored until the end which I enjoyed. I'm curious to read more of her books though. Have you read Agatha Christie's Endless Night? It's got the gothic vibes you may like.
Gothic Romance is my fave as well. Have you read Mist of Midnight by Sandra Byrd? I really liked that one. Sometimes I wonder if Dracula would qualify as Gothic Romance. It certainly check a lot of the boxes.
