How are you? Thank you for your layout suggestions from the last video, they really made a difference! 😊 What do you think of the new layout? If you like it, give this video a thumbs up 👍 I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
I like this set up! Option 2 for the table looks better and seems like it functions best too. It’s such a small space that having the dining table in its own little nook makes sense to me. And the couch looks cozier this way. Good job!
Hello. I would place the dining table back to where it was, near the kitchen as that's where you'll be using it and it would be most practical. The lounge room looks good this way and it does feel like it's a separate family area. The bookshelves as well look good in this new set up, I would turn it into a reading nook, either with cushions or a comfortable rocking or reclining chair. That way you could have a kitchen/dining area, a lounge/family room and a separate little library /study area, all in one room.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful suggestions! I love the idea of creating a cozy reading nook. The main challenge is finding a spot for the fridge since the couch takes up quite a bit of space. We’re still playing around with different layouts... Thank you for the inspiration! 😊
My poor husband is going to love hearing that it’s time to re-shuffle the furniture again! 😅 He’s probably rolling his eyes already, but I agree-the table might just need to make its way back to the kitchen area. Thank you for the suggestion, and wish us luck with the next round of rearranging! 😂
Layout 2 but I would set the tv on top of the two bookcases. It would look less huge and like it had a space. And then I would put the table back in the kitchen and the couch on the window wall. If the dresser is the big problem could it go in someone’s bedroom? I like to rearrange furniture but for 7 years we have lived tiny and the furniture only fits in one place.
I think your husband would protest if you tried replacing your current TV with a smaller one! Is it possible to hang it on the wall, perhaps where it is already, and then place the bookcases side-by-side immediately beneath it so it has a visual anchor. About your dining table, you'll need to think what it is used for most - food prep, dining or a general work space? If it is useful for extra food prep space then it needs to come back towards the kitchen. Of you miss having the couch near the window then putting up some mirrors on the wall opposite the windows. That will help brighten up the space, particularly during your short (and upcoming) winter.
the dining table is always placed near the kitchen so as not to step over the sofa for lunch and to ensure comfort for those who are resting on the sofa. I don't think there is a better solution, it's all relative to how you live the room as a family, but I don't think it's exactly functional like this... then there is an oversized TV for the room which is small... it's just my opinion. however the atmosphere you managed to give despite everything is warm and nice..👍❤
I agree, especially about our giant TV. 😄 In my previous video, I talked a bit about why we kept it when downsizing from a large house to this smaller city apartment. The main reason is that we have ‘family time’ every night, where we watch a series together, pause, talk, and reflect on our day. So even though it doesn't really fit the room size-wise, it brings us a lot of joy and great moments, which is why we chose to keep it 😊❤
@@calmnordic I understand your point and I appreciate that the time you spend with your family in front of the TV is precious, but a TV that is too big watched from a distance too close as in this case is not healthy...but it's just my opinion and it doesn't count for anything...enjoy your family, you are a wonderful person...❤
You're absolutely right! 😊 When we downsized from a house to this city apartment, we decided not to buy a smaller TV, it’s one of those downsizing dilemmas! 😊Definitely something to think about in the future, though! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I would mount the TV on the wall. And that way it is off the floor and gives more visual space on the ground. Then, when it breaks, you can buy a smaller one at that point. 😊
I like the new layout! The table feels cosy in the new placement. The living room looks better and more easy to move around in yet comfortable for watching tv or reading, visiting or just relaxing. You can get to all the things in the bookshelves without having some hard to access.
It looks so cosy and Kuro is so beautiful. All your candles and lights create such a lovely ambiance. Especially in the dark days of winter. It’s lovely you have such beautiful trees you can see from your window. It brings nature in and gives a sense of calm and space. I do like the way you have placed the table but I agree with others I thought it looked good in the kitchen area. I really like your content it’s so relaxing. A cosy home a good book nice food that’s all we need. Kisses to Kuro love his cubby hole. 😊
Thank you so much! 😊 The candles and lights really do make these darker days feel more magical. We're lucky to have those beautiful old trees outside, they definitely bring a sense of calm into the space. Kuro sends greetings! 🐾

@@lorrainedrew312 So happy to hear he enjoyed his time in Finland! 😊True, Finnish winters can be harsh, but we are well-prepared for it. 😊 Luckily, Finnish houses are very well insulated to keep the warmth in, and we often have triple-glazed windows, which help a lot with keeping the cold out. We also have efficient heating systems, so even during the coldest months, it’s cozy indoors.
@@calmnordic yes this is the difference you are well prepared. You like to be outdoors also and dress appropriately. I went to Stockholm many years ago in winter. I look forward to your next video.
I have only just found your videos and I absolutely love them. As to the room layouts, I agree with others that the TV is much too big for this space, it just dominates the whole room. The table would look much better at the kitchen end - can you even get to the bookcase with the table in front of it. You also have to carry the food from one end to the other, I would prefer to just be able to turn round from the kitchen tops and put the food on the table.
I like option 3. It has option 1 layout but with symmetrical bookcases. I adore a little library nook for cozy reading and snuggles and wonderful conversation. I do love the table more in the room too from layout 2. I love that you have given yourself permission to have an oversize TV and to be creative in how you handle it. I had thought up on a box would be lovely but with this arrangement maybe a low bench with some baskets under or just 1 cord basket. Your fridge is the stuff of dreams. I adore it. I am rearranging for the coming season too. Funny how alike we are all over the world.
I love the cosy, clean look of your home and really like the idea of 'zoning' - especially important in a small space like mine. It reminds me that lighting and greenery can make a positive difference in a home. I do think the huge TV is particularly imposing in the space, but each to their own 😊
Thank you so much! I’m glad you like the cozy look. As for the TV, it’s definitely a big one! We kept it from when we downsized from a large house to a small city apartment, so it does stand out a bit here. But it’s something we still enjoy on family movie nights 😊
Thanks for your input! 😊We’re planning to paint the walls in the future, so we’ll likely make the decision about the TV then. Wall-mounting is a good idea!
Layout option 2! Love the wall of all cube shelves. The table is a little crowded, but you have to make choices in a small space, that’s my house also. I like the separate zones too. Just go with it awhile, change it, repeat. I like the term “minimal-ish”. I don’t mind having some stuff, there’s just gotta be a place for it. Good job, supervisor Kuro!
Is there a reason the TV is on the ground? Are you going to eventually wall-mount it or get a piece of furniture for it? I think that’s the missing piece for me personally. Is it too high if you put it on the shelves? I think the room looks unfinished with the TV on the ground. Personally, because I love to rearrange furniture, I never wall-mount a TV because that limits layout options. I love your apartment- whatever the layout it , it feels so cozy!❤
Thank you so much for the feedback and kind words! 😊 You're right, the TV on the ground definitely makes the room feel a bit unfinished. We're planning to make some updates, including painting the walls in the future, and figuring out a better spot for the TV is part of that! We haven't decided yet whether to wall-mount it or find a piece of furniture, but I totally get your point about keeping layout options flexible. Thank you for your input! ❤
I like the symmetry of the bookshelves being in the same area but I vote whatever is most functional for you guys. I would rather the tv be on something (a simple bench maybe?) or be wall mounted for more comfortable viewing but again, what seems to work for everyone. The couch is in a good spot for looking out the window and watching tv too. 👍🏻
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! When we downsized, we brought this TV with us, so we’re figuring out the best way to make it work in the space. We’ll definitely look into a bench or wall mounting for more comfortable viewing.😊
Hi, i like the placing of the sofa. Is it possible to relocate the chest of drawers to another room and put the tv and the 2 bookcases against the largest wall? So you'll have more room for the dining table (i liked the first placement, now the table seems strangely in the middle) although i would prefer the table in the kitchen area. Happy trying! ;-)
Hi! Thank you for the ideas! 😊We tried moving the TV and bookshelves to the largest wall, but unfortunately, they were too wide. Moving the chest of drawers could still be an option though! We’ll continue experimenting with the layout 😄

It feels a bit cramped, two bookcases, one chest of drawers, huge TV , not easy to give calmness to the room. Maybe you have another spot for the chest of drawers > bedroom, hallway ? I Love layout option two(2). The whole space is cozy so it’s not like the table is out of place. I think it looks great! I for sure like the book shelves together on that wall. The question though is what do you and your husband like?
I love what you are doing. I do it too, playing with furniture. I have a suggestion, you can cover the tv with nice fabric (foulard or sari) so you do not have a black screen. It makes the living room more cosy. You are not watching a lot so when you do you can easy uncover it by taking the fabric off.

I would prefer a low TV stand or credenza so the center of the screen is at eye level with seating. A sound bar system would look and sound great, but that can be for much later.
A sound bar system is a great idea!
