Great video as always. Question: what are your loiter radius options? Can it be set tighter than 50 meters? Also, is there a option for units in feet instead of meters? Can’t wait for the flight video.
Hi Andrew, Looking to get something that's very much plug 'n play in terms of an FPV autopilot/osd with (at least) RTH feature. Having come from using the relatively easy Cyclops Storm system before, all the issues people seem to have with setting up Inav - even pro's like yourself - has steered me in the direction of sticking with a basic system like this Detrum Z3. Is this system - to your way of thinking - still one of the best go to basic systems or would you maybe recommend another brand/model that you are aware of? Thanks.
I'm proud and happy to say that I haven't got the foggiest idea what this is all about. ;-) My ignorance and stupidity feeds and nourishes me. I'm currently sitting in a muddy puddle, giggling and making splashing noises.
Simple pleasures. My sister makes a line of play clothes called MiniMuds for exactly that sort of kids activity. Unlikely to have your size unfortunately.
Handy looking unit for the plug and play brigade. Much better documentation than most. The solid wiring should make it more durable but the extra weight might limit it to larger planes. Price getting up there at about AUD150. Useful info in the documentation....... "3,One-click RTH & Fail Safe: The Guarantee of Safe Flight Toggle the remote control RTH switch when required, the aircraft will maintain the current altitude(By default, when manually returning home, the aircraft will climb to 60 meters when the altitude is lower than 60 meters, and lower to 120 meters when it is higher than 120 meters.), and the autopilot will return to the take-off point side by side-waiting for you to regain control of the aircraft(The default circle radius is 50 meters). Parameters such as return speed and hovering radius can be set in the programming card according to the properties of the aircraft. With out-of-control protection function (DSM, S.BUS receiver is activated automatically, PPM receiver needs to set out-of-control protection), when the aircraft flies out of the remote control range or the signal is bad, Z3-FPV flight control will automatically take over the aircraft, the height * keep 100 meters Fly back to the take-off point and circle (circling radius 50 meters) waiting for you to regain control of the aircraft. *The above mentioned heights are relative to the take-off point" No mention of if it supports the "Autolaunch" facility of the Kopilot and LEFEIRC SN plug and play stabs.
It's for planes which can hand throw take off ? if so, Z3-FPV have auto-recovery Mode, it equal launch-mode ,when launch , Z3 fpv keep your plane in safe
Hi Andrew Great review, can i ask if Detrum Z3 is compatible with PCM receivers? I have an old JR propo and i d like to know if it is supported . Thank you in advance
I purchased one of these and am trying to run it off of a FrSky R-XSR. I am trying to get the mode switch and RTH set up on my QX7, but they are not registering. Your video kind of skips through that part. Can you elaborate pleas. I am new to the QX7.
On the QX7 mixer page choose a switch as the source for Ch 5 (Modes) and a different switch for Ch 6 (RTH). That's all I did and it worked. You might be able to choose different channels using the Detrum setup card too. I dont have it any more to check
Im having a difficult time setting up a receiver to the detrum z3. I am trying to use a spektrum 3.3V serial satellite receiver but it doesn’t even light up. Any suggestions?
@@AndrewNewton I only get a flashing red light on the z3 flight controller. Do you by chance know the significance of that? I know that a solid red light means it is locked and you need to move the throttle down-right
We need something more than ZOHD Kopilot Lite, but not as complicated as iNav or as Expensive as Eagle Tree Vector. I am hoping this works out, my soldering sucks, I love the Vector but I can't afford another one :-(
Hy Andrew. We Guis have e new FPV Stratosphere Projekt. Now we looking for reliable Parts. Low Temperature, hi Altitude ( problems with GPS over 15000 Meters ) stabil HD Plane, mega long Distance for RC and Video Signal and, and. Do you have som ideas for good Stuff ?
@@AndrewNewton - And the fact that you saw fit to give that very caveat, Andrew - to keep an open mind about everything - is EXACTLY why so many people trust you! :-)
Looks okay for those with a PC phobia...The thick cables on the GPS and amp counter look like an install nightmare TBH...Don't need an amp counter..Need a big plane to fit it all in...😳😳😳🤔
Great review Andrew. Can't wait for the flight test. If I like what I see I'll add it to my collection and if works to my liking I'll buy several.
I guess I am kind of off topic but does anyone know a good place to stream new series online ?
@Kaden Elisha Lately I have been using Flixzone. Just google for it =)
It's a nice little setup but it's hard to beat the matek flight control boards with the built-in power unit
You shouldn't mix your apples Nd oranges.
Thanks Andrew. Does it have a hand launch mode like the Kopilot?
No launch assist

My thoughts exactly.
Radius can be changed but only metric I think
Try test Sinan Sn-l flight controler, based on Ardupilot everything from OSD very good I have one in Talon GT
Have you got a link to the supplier?
David Watkin banggod or aliexpress, afpv or sinan sn-l owl
Sounds friendly!

I wouldn't recommend this one Rocco. Too buggy and badly programmed with no support. The only other would be the Kopilot although it doesn't have OSD.
@@AndrewNewton Thanks Andrew, appreciate the feedback!

Unlikely, only PWM Detrum I suspect
Would you recommend this product or Matek 405 wse? Thanks
I prefer INAV so the Matek for me.

What rx are you using. I’ve tried everything and I can’t get past a flashing red led light.
FrSKY RX6R

Yes it fills that niche nicely
This looks like it fits the Bill's of what you're looking for.
Any idea how to calibrate the device, edit the OSD data, and change perspective ie. 4:3 / 16:9 ?

Sounds very ambitious but exciting. Way beyond my knowledge sorry.
RSSI on the OSD?
I didn't see one and didn't see one or anyway to add one, he did scroll through the options a little too quickly to be sure.
No RSSI
Where can I get only PMU? I buy the bundle with programable unit but not include the PMU.
Contact Detrum
Hi,. this is Jerry from Detrum. My mail is sales05@dynam-rc.cn Thank you Sinson!
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Andrew where to buy this one?

Hi, This is Jerry from Detrum .
Z3 FPV on Amazon delivery in two weeks : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088LML63C
or ebay : www.ebay.com/itm/283877739289
They claim, their SBUS is not the usual SBUS. They use Futaba-specific SBUS. But that is just a cop-out for their inability to fix their own units.
Thanks for all YOUR Videos.
There always e guiding Light in the RC Jungle for me.
If Andrew gifs his ok, its always e god buy. Chris
Thanks Chris but please watch other reviews as well.

True, need space for doubled over cables
These units are junk. I purchased 3 of them, and none of them work. They stopped emailing me when they could not determine the problem.
$99 - I don't think so
