Hi Laurie, I'm so glad I found your videos. My Grandparents were born, raised and married in a Bulgarian village before moving to Australia in their 20's. Next year I plan to visit Bulgaria to re-connect with my heritage and meet the family I haven't yet had an opportunity to meet. Your videos have been so informative. Keep up the good work! 😊
Oh wow!!! I literally got goosebumps while reading your comment. You are going to have the time of your life and probably feel like you entered another world. 😃 If you want any tips while you are here please make sure to reach out. I just heard your story and am already so excited for you!!
@sistersofbulgaria9396 Yes, it's very exciting. I had only one Uncle who visited Bulgaria and could speak Bulgarian. He asked me a couple of times to travel with him but my children were so young I couldn't go. One of the last conversations that we had before he passed he told me that I need to visit Bulgaria. It is very important to me. I keep saying that I'll be going back 'home' which is a bit strange given I've never been 🤣 I guess it's in my blood!
Hello Laurie...this was a wonderful video as always... 03:48 I love the White Storks of that region, but (I think) if you look more closely at the bird standing in the river, it is a Bulgarian variety of the Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea.) 10:11 "...Mommy, smell the poisonous bat poop...!" Well I spit tea all over my computer when you said that so clearly and plainly...LOL!!! Laurie you would make a great tour guide with your wit, charming nature and knowledge of these areas. You are also correct that Histoplasmosis is a common fungal disease that can develop if folks breathe in airborne spores from bat droppings...with some folks being more sensitive than others... Another wonderful video...Thank you...!!!
They are amazing caves. Some beautiful countryside in your country. Do you know which type of rock they are made from? Great video. Look forward to more. All the best 🇬🇧.
❤Your adventures radiate such beauty, blending your stunning charm with Bulgaria’s breathtaking scenery. Each post captures not just the wonder of the places you visit but also the magic of your unique perspectives. Keep sharing your incredible journey and inspiring us all to see the world through your lens!❤
How stunning! (*the caves too! hehe) Another great vlog, the caves reminded me of Jameos del Agua in Lanzarote, except it's much smaller. Looking forward to catching up with you again next Sunday Laurie! 🤗
You and your sister are the flowers of Bulgarian womanhood. I've commented before but never on that. Very interesting video of your travels. Bulgaria has a lot of beautiful countryside. That cave is cool...
Isn’t it INSANE!? I have to admit I haven’t seen one that big before. It was crazy cool!! I’m so glad you enjoyed!! Thanks so much for watching (as always)! 😊❤️🌹
I've been looking forward to this video ever since you first mentioned it! I find old and abandoned places very interesting. Funny how Baba is making fun of Emily for being decked out wherever she goes. But this is a stereotype about eastern European women, not really a bad thing though. Love the little tidbits of information you include. I'll have to rewatch the Expendables 2!
Omg thank you soooo much for the amazingly generous support (again)! I can’t express how much it means to me 😊😊😊. I’m saving every penny to improve my channel and keep making these videos 😊 🙏🏻 🌹

Wonderful video Laurie. I remember being that American traveling with my new Bulgarian family to all the sites. Question: Are you going to Rila Monastery at some point? Maybe you have already and I haven’t seen the video.

I was recently in Sofia and was supposed to visit Rila Monastery but the weather got too cold and we decided not to in case my lungs are still not well enough. I will definitely remember you want to see a video on it and be sure to go! It’s also in the book of 100 sites to visit in Bulgaria.. I’m working on gathering all 100 stamps 😃
How stunning a place it is 😮 I need to visit it next year. What kind of attractions apart from the cave would you recommend for the weekend in the area while coming from Bucharest? Where would you recommend I book a night stay? Thank you very much 🤗☺️
Thanks Laurie its very interesting. They must have been bat shit crazy tough as nails to live in those caves during wintertime . I supposed they'd have had a large bonfire every night. And a bunch of bearskin rugs to squabble over too
It certainly is an impressive cave and video does not do the scale any real justice...it's enormous ! There's another much smaller cave close to Gorsko Slivovo, called Garvanitsa Cave. What makes it impressive is the access, definitely not Baba friendly 🤔
I tried my best to capture its magic but it’s completely impossible to do so over a video. It’s absolutely ENORMOUS AND GRAND. I’ve heard of the neighboring caves but never visited.. I have to addd them to my list 😃
