Amazing video!👍👏 I just began my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They have an incredible range of digital comics for every genre, including the hard to find ones. Lifetime updates too!😁
I am no Gem Mint fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I think you misunderstood the point of his comment on your previous video about him. He wasn't criticizing your background because he disagreed with your taste or wanted to mock you for not sharing his taste. He was pointing out that your background looks exactly the same as the background of the other influencers you were calling out. Slabs on the wall, overpriced statues, shelf full of WAAAYYY too many hardcover omnibuses, and a giant ass microphone right in the shot. It's the TH-cam Comic Book Influencer background starter kit! He was pointing out the irony of being called out by another TH-cam Influencer who's playing the exact same game as the rest of the Comic Book TH-camrs. You do have to admit that you're sending a mixed message by calling out various content creators for pumping up Blue Chip Keys (and rightfully so) while you've got a dozen or so Blue Chip Keys hanging on the wall behind you. By showing them off as a status symbol, you're pumping them up as well even if that isn't your intention.

This was pretty on point. The only thing I would add is the upscale type of TH-cam guys as well that buy all the bigger books from mostly Heritage and Comic Connect. Channels like Automatic Comics and Alex the Comic Hoarder. I am so glad that you included the drama group and even included yourself.
Swagglehaus I dont think is a drama channel. He just puts anything noteworthy out there. I enjoy his stuff. The Gooseman I'll admit makes me laugh so I find his channel to be entertaining.
I'm glad you put yourself first in the drama category and didn't fake the funk. I find it funny though that you put me in that category, and I think it goes to show how little you know about my channel. Now, to be fair, I put myself in a position to be seen in this light by covering C2E2 and a couple of other "drama" events, but I did so in a way to bring actual "logic" and "business sense" to calm the drama and actually provide a way to avoid being counter productive and handle issues in a professional and productive manner. I guess my intent was missed by some, because people refuse to see intent when they themselves are so focused on thriving off of drama. My channel peaked well before c2e2, and the "drama" content is probably 2% of my uploads. So I don't need to push sensationalism and "drama" for clicks and views. I am definitely passionate about what I speak on, and I don't censor myself for anyone either.

It’s so weird I remember around 2010 it was mostly older guys showing off collections but in a humble way. I also remember they got mocked mercilessly in the comments for wasting “family money” on comics. But these guys had high grade Timely, Action, Flash, Green Lantern, Namor, Cap etc. Who would have guessed comic book TH-cam would mutant into what we have today.

Still trying to find my "niche" but this vid was a great highlight of what I'm trying to avoid. If it takes a little longer that's fine, same attitude to my bands. Respect!

Very intersting to see your interpretation of present youtube comicbook channels. I also think it was a smart move to put yourself in a category. But I do want to point out the actual comicbook youtube community started way back around 2009ish with Captain StrangeLife. Who is still making videos. The original comicbook community had one big split due to one snake in the garden of eden but survived. Then comicsgate arrived. I made a video a year before comicsgate started that was prophetic. So I'd like to add a sixth category of OG TH-camrs who are and were a whole other animal.
Man i really like this video but i feel like you keft out the collectors who collect for the love of comics. They are they people who collect to complete runs or the love of comics. Keep up the great videos
With all due respect bruddah, As someone who is regularly on the pop culture philosopher's channel, obviously The weekly comic book review is a staple of Robbies content, but that's far from all that the Channel does in terms of creativity I'll list a few of the other shows in the reply to this comment... also there is no shilling for his shop as it's rarely ever mentioned by name.
Other weekly/monthly content on PCP. PCP Movie night is a live discussion of a film where we talk style/structure, characters and themes. The Best comics of the month Stream where we as a panel talk about the best books that dropped that month. Rocking Robbie Live covers a wealth of comic and Pop Culture topics. Dude is making some of the best and most thoughtful comic and pop culture content out there.
@phable_one_collection_down hopefully dude gets a minute to check out some of the awesome stuff Robbie puts out. Personally, I'd put his love, coverage and knowledge of comics up there with Tropes and comics explained any day of the week.

That was an accurate classification. The last group you should have mentioned is the "pretending collector", who is really a low-level dealer; Bronzeville Comics is an example of that group.
I stopped watching Bronzeville after he took a hard stance against revealing how much he was paying for books. It made me feel like he was trying to get over on someone with the lack of transparency.

What's your take on new comics? Current/on-going runs? I started to notice a few throw away comments about how niche new comics are or how they are trash? What's the actual take? Or am i just reading too muc int it?
Least Favorite Type: The KEYMASTERS - the TH-camrs who encourage people to focus only on preordained key issues, mostly for speculative profit reasons. The KEYMASTERS are like the poachers who only want the ivory tusks while tossing the rest.
You missed the two main type of TH-camrs I watch, the ones that go through old comics and comic magazines, with Cartoonist Kayfabe being the biggest one of those, although they are likely ending soon, but there are a lot of other channels following their formula and going through older comics page by page, talking about the art and stories. And the other big type you missed are the omnibus overview and review channels like Near Mint Condition and Omnidog. Gem Mint falls into the omnibus overview channel as well.
Great video!!! I really dig Swags, Comic Investments, You channel, Bry, Mint-Hunter, Mighty Comics, Comic Book Corner.. .. and of course comics historian/ comics Explained.. ..I use to watch Comic Tom, Very Gary but can't anymore.. ..It feels like they are pushing books. .."Buy Now Before It's To Late" It might be a personal thing but I can't stand that.
I like comic collector geek and Keston Old School who are really just really active collectors. They not selling anything. They building their network and have very niche audiences.
I really like new comic book day guys, because they’re te only ones talking about comics and the stories. Never, never trust the opinion of the big guys or dealers, because at the end of the day they are not collectors, just resellers
@@JCtheComicGeek yeah apparently. I commented on one of his videos and this dude lost his mind 😂. You would have thought I said something rude or hateful. I literally just didn’t agree with him. He is allowed to have an opinion that wasn’t the problem just the how fired up he was over was pretty ridiculous. It had to do with Disney.
@@joshualittrell2457I’ve experienced this many times. Mostly over the failure of Disney Marvel movies. He doesn’t do the movie math correct so in his mind they still make money, but in reality they lose hundreds of millions. He quit TH-cam and comics anyway.
@@joshualittrell2457 check his TH-cam channel, the community tab. He simply said “I’m done” as his final post. Saw on Instagram he quit his comic book and is letting the artists finish it up. Some say it was because of family and other say he posted it the same day CGC came out with the 9.9 info and how it’s going to be easier to get them now. 🤷♂️
If there was a category of FUNNY comic TH-camrs, I have to give that to Mercenaut. Dude is so fun and witty to listen to, he's been doing it for a long time too.
i go out in the wild and the storries are real about "treasure " being found= one guy- i go to his yard sale and he says he only has 10 out of old DC comics his uncle gave him= i look at them= first appearance of Jimmy Olsen,First Appearance of Lois Lane, First appearance of Braniac-etc= what the hell were the other 20 i missed by a few hours ?
There's also the historian type who looksto educate on different genres or past historical events. More of the old school type from the 70's. Keaston comes to mind and comic book geek.
I stopped caring and collecting comic books a long time ago. But I do like watching videos about it here and there to see what's going on since it's amusing. As an outsider, the hobby does look a lot more business oriented and rigid. The social media culture has basically been a good reason for me to stay away.
I like how you threw yourself into this. that makes this even more palatable for those who get a little offended that you're kind of poking fun at other TH-camrs, and it looks like you take self-inventory.
Couldn't wait to click on the video I knew it was gonna be good 😂😂. I guess I'm down with the Drama Kings it seems that's where I spend much of my viewing time. I appreciate you including yourself in the discussion...it shows that you want to have a fair critique...plus anybody that uses the term a tough row to hoe is my type of guy....😅 great work.
The fact that you dismiss Comic Tropes and Comic Explained right off the bat is telling. These are the guys who actually exude a love and respect for the art form. Everyone else you mentioned fall into one giant group called "hucksters".
I don't think he "dismissed" them in the negative way you seem to imply. He just noted they are in their own realm. He probably could have made another group called the "Historian and Informative" channels which is probably where they fit in.
My channel is doing things with comedy and sketches in the comic book space while also practicing something I call "Radical Honesty". I guess what I'm saying is I'm trying to build a 6th category in a fat, nerdy "Key and Peele" kind of way? "Kilo and Peele" if you will 🤷♀ Ten months and almost at 1K subs. It's slow but it's moving!
If you watched and listened to what he said, he pretty much says that's what his content is in this video, stating him and thoro make content to get a rise out of people and it looks like he accomplished that with you 😂
Professional comic critics and reviewers are more interesting than any of the other “types”, in my opinion. They read the garbage so I don’t have to. Covers and solicitations just don’t convey whether a book is worth picking up. Some reviewers really get into the books too, with group discussions, that I could listen to all day. Discovered many great reads this way. There needs to be trusted sources for grading books that doesn't involve slabs and spine tics. The other types you listed come across as caring less about actually reading comic books.
Jerno and Reggie haven't uploaded a video in a month. Not good. I actually like the new comic book guys. I buy every week so I like the information they provide.
@@JCtheComicGeek yea, need to make time. I won't even do youtube based on time and having a life. I've been asked. I'm like "nope". Not on comics. Just on topics. I don't want to go down that rabbit hole. Things might change later, but it's a big commitment. I would do it on travel, though. It's alot of work. Especially to your subscribers. I honestly don't think Mickey aka Swaggle is trying to get a rise out of anyone. He usually has content based on what's hot, what's selling, what you might want to grab, what he grabbed, what grades he got on books etc.
Bang on the money Gooseman. Eventually there will be a realisation to all in these groups that they are a slave to youtube. What I mean is they will feel pressured to keep creating content for the channel. Imagine waking up in the morning and feeling I’ve got to go to work today but this damn channel of mine demands I keep the algorithm up and maintain clicks and continue to make videos.
Thank you for sharing, keep doing what you do!!!
great video. You know the industry.
I stay away from ncbd speculators and anyone that loves everything. Great vid
You’re my favorite!
Over here in the Simpleverse, you get variety baby! That's probably why nobody watches though... 😅 We need more strap ons in the TH-cam community!
Nice! What about the Lifers like CaptStrangelife etc and the Surgeons like the pressers/conservators?
in hindsight, what would you have categorized Cartoonist Kayfabe? they have/had about 70k subs when Ed Died?
I found a hulk 181 in an attic lol
That’s fantastic, thanks for sharing
I just like watching about comic hauls and stuff like that. I'm not to much in the big channels, they seem to always be pushing something.
What about the 3 or 4 friends sitting on a couch talking comics? Like Comic Pop, or Ifanboy back in the day
I like comic collector geek and Keston Old School who are really just really active collectors. They not selling anything. They building their network and have very niche audiences.
You never disappoint strapon!
You forgot the TH-camrs that stage "found good deals"
2.0, comic dens, lmc, mint comic and you are my fav comic book TH-camr and also comic explains!
I really like new comic book day guys, because they’re te only ones talking about comics and the stories.
Never, never trust the opinion of the big guys or dealers, because at the end of the day they are not collectors, just resellers
Reg will even argue with people in the comments 😂😂 that’s how much he is invested in the bullshit he believes.
Is it Reggies way is the right way and that that! Kind of deal?
@@AngryStraightWhiteMale did he? Yeah his movie math is way off😂😂
@@joshualittrell2457 check his TH-cam channel, the community tab. He simply said “I’m done” as his final post. Saw on Instagram he quit his comic book and is letting the artists finish it up. Some say it was because of family and other say he posted it the same day CGC came out with the 9.9 info and how it’s going to be easier to get them now. 🤷♂️
Like automatic comics as he shows books I’ve never seen always informative also comic book investments and Swagglehaus.
This is great entertainment and so true. Depressing but true. Now do a video on the 5 types of Comic Facebook Groups. Down the rabbit hole we go 😂
There's also the historian type who looksto educate on different genres or past historical events.
If you put one more silly-ass name in the comments, this whole chat is going to feel my wrath. You feel me Deenice?
Sticky, I think you may have missed a category. Unboxers. Comic Doctor, Rob's Fat Stack of Comics are two examples I've been checking out lately.
You forgot a 6th type. There's dudes who make content discussing how others make content.
Definitely. Talk about being creatively bankrupt…
💯
If you watched and listened to what he said, he pretty much says that's what his content is in this video, stating him and thoro make content to get a rise out of people and it looks like he accomplished that with you 😂
@@81DISTRICT I said what I said
@@missinglynks good for you do you want a 🍪 you child 😏
Josh's Comics is another Pirate, but he's a budget hunter. A nice down-to-earth dude with a ton of comic knowledge.
Reggiecollects has a FT marketing job/family responsabilities were he says its taking away from his youtube vid time.
jernos dad died so hes taking a break
@@JCtheComicGeek yea, need to make time. I won't even do youtube based on time and having a life. I've been asked. I'm like "nope". Not on comics. Just on topics. I don't want to go down that rabbit hole. Things might change later, but it's a big commitment. I would do it on travel, though. It's alot of work. Especially to your subscribers. I couldn't leave people hanging for a month. That's me though.
@@horvathsogranfume658 I know. I feel bad. I think he probably is getting out of it. I hope he's doing well considering. He had a hard time before with the toxicity of the community.
@@horvathsogranfume658 I like jerno. Poor fella.
Thanks for this video. It was a very interesting take I hadn't considered. I like how you put yourself in there, and provided an honest take on what your motivation is. I didn't know about many of these TH-camrs. Which type would you put ERod212 in?
Should there be a grifter category? Lol.
Dude LITERALLY. giga grifting here and he knows it.
Man yesterday you had a positive video with your slab collection!...Now back to this negativity!😢
did you even watch the video?
@@horvathsogranfume658They aren't wrong. The whole video is passive aggressively showing disdain for how those channels operate
@@horvathsogranfume658 how would sticky react if videos were made of him, about him and the "way he does/says things" in the comic book community? Id say he wouldnt like it too much. Of course clickbait and views abd all that🙄
@@JCtheComicGeekit’s been done. Jernos Comics did a video about Sticky Goose. Where’s Jernos now? Dude quit TH-cam.
@@AngryStraightWhiteMale Jesus, you replied to EVERYONE'S comment, huh?
great content. ty
im here for the drama >.>
Gosh dang StickyGoose Comics stirring up drama like a true (drama) King!
Just kidding! I’ve started to watch each video you put out. It’s the level of honesty that I appreciate most, plus it’s fun!
What type would you be? And what type am I?
Love the content! Keep it up!
I honestly don't think Mickey aka Swaggle is trying to get a rise out of anyone. He usually has content based on what's hot, what's selling, what you might want to grab, what he grabbed, what grades he got on books etc.
I like him. I watch his stuff. He has a good sense of humor.
I think he was classified as an unbiased news guy, as opposed to a drama king like sticky.
I’m just a viewer who drops in every now and then. Some channels bore me quite quickly.
Thoughts on the new Joker trailer?

Egomaniacs, Fantasists & Sycophants!

I’m definitely a pirate!!
Only here to follow everyone you named. You are a big channel compared to me. Nobody want to hear me talk about anything
