    I feel that Marvel decided against recasting T’Challa out of pure cowardice. They didn’t want to face the potential backlash from people who didn’t want to let go of Chadwick so they just let the character die off instead of honoring not only the character but Chadwick’s wishes for T’Challa to live on. All because they didn’t want to face the heat.

    • @KingBlackknuckle
      @KingBlackknuckle  ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Agreed. I mean youre gonna have extremely childish people who think they own a franchise because theyre fans of it. But at the end of the day, theyll just have to get over it. They didnt know Chadwick personally, so them actin like its a cardinal sin to recast T'Challa makes ZERO sense

    • @ShinRyojin

      @@KingBlackknuckle Precisely. People need to understand that T’Challa is bigger than Chadwick. He knew it, his family knows it, and the fans (the MCU ones who never read a comic) need to realize it. I’ve heard some people flat out say that recasting T’Challa would’ve been disrespectful to Chadwick which is such self absorbed bullshit because what they really mean by that is that they don’t want to see another actor play T’Challa and they’re using the man’s memory as a crutch.

    Them not recasting T’Challa is the reason that I am not watching the upcoming Wakanda Forever. I can’t support that decision, just because the actor died doesn’t mean their character they were playing should be killed off. I don’t think that they are “honoring” Chadwick by killing off his character. No you’re just discontinuing his work and saying no other black actor can take up the role?? Huh?? My thing is I understand both sides of the equation. As far as Wakanda Forever goes, I get that the director and the other actors just felt that recasting him wouldn't be right. That writing T'Challa's death into the movie was sort of their way of coping with it and I think that movie does work.
    But I still personally feel a little weird about it. This is a character who has been around since the 60s. He has outlived both of his creators. He's going to outlive a bunch of writers and artists and even voice actors who play him. This is a character who has stood the test of time and I think it's kind of a shame that his character's story was effectively over in the MCU because of his passing. Would a recast have worked? Maybe not. But I think it COULD have while still respecting Boseman's passing.

The X-men won't be introduced until 2024 - 2025. I can feel that black panther 3 would be within that time frame and that the MCU is gonna have TChallas son(TChalla II/Jr) fall in love with Storm and that's how we get the entire Storm and Tchalla relationship. The Infinity gauntlet could also happen. They could also bring tchalla back in secret wars as a surprise cameo and have him wield the gauntlet to hold off against Kang etc etc. I can see this happening in the future. It was no one's fault and it couldn't have been avoided. Was Wakanda Forever good as a tribute movie? Yeah, but only in the short term. Honestly going against Chadwick's words & killing off the character offscreen, AFTER T'challa proved to be the leader Wakanda needed (and we barely got any of that afterwards) was disrespectful. To the character after everything that was built up in a universe where so much is build up to one thing and another.

They are imagining that they won't need us T'chala fans, as they have millions of MCU stans who get excited for MCU projects no matter how hard the studio sh*ts on the source material. You have to understand that we only represent the foundation of original comic stories, and those stans represent the foundation of the the kind of stories that Disney/Marvel want to tell in little to no regard to the source material. They are an easier market, hence why even the crappiest MCU movies make money.

    How about this articles as early as Jan 2020, way before he passed, say Chad was informed by Feige the producer and already knew he was being phased out and replaced by Shuri and he was not happy at all. And neither was Coogler. (Chad was doing like Mehersala Ali is now about Blade's direction). Boseman complained subtly to reporters. You can look it up (Chadwick Boseman unhappy with BP sequel). he was even considering walking because of this direction. I had the honor of reaching Chadwick briefely online and they eluded they were quietly preparing a script about Tchalla meeting Storm and a character story on him as king. Possibly show them getting married. Doom and Namor were in it. But you get the classic rivalry with Tchalla and Namor, the battle of two kings. But Feige cancelled that for his female woke movement. Phasing out Tchalla, the black male king, and replacing him with women was always the plan by Kevin Feige...Not honoring Chad. His death albeit unfortunate did not cause Marvel or Disney's course of action in this direction. Now they just gonna exploit his death to counter the Recast TChalla movement. This is not the movie Chad wanted. So its a Hard Pass for me. It wont get my dollar.

    Woulda been dope to have Chadwick around for as long as say, RDJ, or Chris Evans/Hemsworth but reality is reality and he isn't with us anymore. Marvel could've easily kept T'Chala/Black Panther out of the limelight for a little bit, and then brought in a new actor with a fresh take. And with how bad people want Killmonger back, he was bad ass as hell no doubt, but shit, there are other young black actors who could do some amazing shit besides Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan.
    At first, my initial opinion, was against recasting tbh because I was just so taken aback by his passing. But with years in between I've done a total 180 and wish they would've taken the time to find another actor who could have played the character, become iconic in his own right.

    We need to come together and addrss the lack of/poor representation of black men in Hollywood. We’ve seen time and time again that black men are box office cheat codes. If you go back and watch Black Panther 1 you’ll realize it’s actually pretty bad, movie wise. Limited suit action, he gets killed and is “reluctantly” brought back to life, which was completely unnecessary. Would they have killed Steve Rogers or Thor in their own movie, just to bring them back? No. It’s tacky and makes the hero look weak. However, it still brought in $1.3b because there was a strong, black male lead playing the role. Not because the story was soo good. If you watch Justice League, Cyborg looks helpless, gets torn apart and needs the HELP of Superman to separate the boxes in the end. Hancock a drunk. Green Lantern, they went with Hal Jordan and made John Stewart a cartoon. Miles Morales a cartoon. Sam Wilson, hand me down Cap. Rhodes, hand me down Tony Stark. Blade, production halted due to lack of action scenes and storyline. They killed T’Challa off so they don’t have to portray a black man in that light again. T’Challa was a genius, who rivaled Deadpool fighting wise in the comics. Yet he was killed in his own movie. Jewish Hollywood wants white men to look like Gods and geniuses while black men are made to look feeble, weak or in need of help. Pay attention. There are more black villains than black hero’s for a reason.

      Steve Rogers was not killed? Frozen in the ice for 70 years is kind of a death similar to T'Challa's almost death in the first movie. Somekind of death is ALWAYS part of a hero's journey. And "The Spiderverse"-movies are not cartoons they are high quality animated movies that allow to tell a story in a way live action is unable too. It is a misconseption that animated movies are just for kids. Hell the first part even got an academic award and a Golden Globe. Never did T'Challa come of as week to me.

  • @jk_282
    @jk_282 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Mmmm I get what your saying... Tchalla has a lot more stories he could and should tell. Plus he plays a big role in parts of secret wars, however, I think the main issue comes with the way the mcu is structured. It's sorta why the spider man and Batman arguments done really work. When they recast spidey or Batman, they created a while new film line/universe, changing the other actor, which in turn, as you said allows then to bring there own spin to the characters. However, in the mcu, they can't break off from the established order unless they create an else world (variant) character so they can bring there own spin. A new actor would essentially have to play both the old actor and the character to fit within the universe or it could come off as jarring. Now, j think they'll definitely bring him back. I mean, no one stays dead on the comics after all, so it just depends on if they go the else world route or some magic stuff. Either way, personally, I think it makes at least some sense why they didn't recast him

      The only issue with that is rhoady. They recast him so they could have tachalla. I think there’s a difference between MCU recasting and other brands. Bond, Batman, Spider-Man all have recasted characters because they’re in new worlds or continuity. Keaton was Batman in Burton’s world. Holland was Spider-Man in the MCU. etc. I don’t see Garfield as a recast, that duology was a remake. If Tobey couldn’t return for Spiderman 2, they were going to recast him with Jake. MCU has never rebooted and if they did, no one would question recasting the characters. MCU recasting has been with Rhaodes and Banner. Both Iron Man and Incredible Hulk are a little weird to rewatched because of the different actors. Similar to Maggie in TDK. The Dark Knight would be more perfect if Katie returned. What I’m trying to say is, there’s a difference between recasting and new interpretation. I don’t know how to write T’Challa out, but narratively, it would have made more sense that M’Baku was king and the Black Panther during the Blip and post Endgame, he proves why he’s worthy and brought success and honor to Wakanda. Make Wakanda Great Again: M’Baku 2024

So they have Avengers Academy land, right... and in this same land, you can get your picture taken CURRENTLY with MCU Captain America, Black Widow, and Iron Man, in their costumes from The Avengers... but when Chadwick died, they 'retired' the meet-and-greet with Black Panther, then brought out Shuri as Black Panther, built a fucking monument to T'Challa in the land, and started doing a show where Shuri Black Panther and Okoye doing a 'remembrance ceremony' several times a day! Marvel/Disney 100,000 percent used Chadwick's death to sell shit. They manipulated our grief into what they thought would be a guaranteed win for Wakanda Forever. You will never change my mind about this. I thought it was gross and wrong. Most importantly, it was NOT what Chadwick would've wanted. His own family has said he told them he wanted the character recast so that the character, and not just him alone, would be a positive influence on kids from now on.

That’s old generation crap, we all know better, it’s ok to have both males and females as strong leaders in any movie. But we will see what they do. Just like chirstopher Reeves, henry cavill, Dean cain, tom wellington, tyler from superman & lois are all actors and what they have in common is they all played superman the same character based from the comics they are not their version of the character.
      Toby,Andrew Tom all played peter Parker spiderman they all played the same character based off the comics not their personal lives. They don't swing around new York saving people they are actors playing a character who does in movies.
      It's like this Christopher Reeves was superman he (the actor) fell from a horse broke his neck but superman (the character) didn't fall from no horse and break his neck. The actor (Christopher ) paralyzed and years later died but superman wasn't paralyzed nor did he die with his actor.
      My personal point is we shouldn't be labeling these actors with the characters they play in film or television they are not those fictional characters yes they bring them to life however they don't live as them.

      While I agree there's definitive versions that people prefer over others that set the tone for the character, it doesn't mean no one else should ever be given the chance to play a role. Chadwick Boseman is a perfect example of why you shouldn't ever tie the character's fate to the people who play them. He truly only got one solo movie, and that was it. So not like he was overused in the slightest. He definitely needed more time to shine, but we were all robbed of that. But the show must go on. He did great in the role, but this is a character that is far too important culturally speaking to put on a shelf because tragedy struck. Fans will lose on on so many potential stories that have not been told. It does far more harm than good to handle it this way. The MCU will burn thru it's potential storylines far quicker than it naturally would have if recasts happen as needed.
      Captain America/Steve Rogers is one of my favorite characters, and I feel Chris Evans did a great good in the role, but I don't want th character being barred from ever appearing on screen again. There's still plenty of great Captain America stories to tell. I am fine with them giving Chris a send off and the character a break, but eventually his character will return even if Chris Evans does not. Chris Evans does not own being Steve Rogers as other actors have played the role before him and will continue to do so afterwards.
      May be no one ever tops Evans or Boseman in their portrayals of the characters they were on screen...but I fail to see the harm in letting someone who is truly passionate and a good fit for the role from trying.

      Let’s see the movie then form an opinion? If we want a recast, what difference does it make if we see the movie? T’Challa isn’t going to be recasted in the MCU according to Nate Moore. Stop trying to deflect from the fact that this is a disrespect to the legacy of T’Challa. This doesn’t happen to white iconic characters. They will always recast Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, The Joker etc.

      @@derektheproducer 1. Idc if they do or don’t. Won’t make a difference to me. These are FICTIONAL characters. I spoke on seeing the movie first to form an opinion on the MOVIE not just the character. Didn’t matter what Disney did people were going to be upset regardless. You can’t please everyone is my point.

    What’s the rush? Is it OK if they made a dope movie that paid homage to Chadwick Boseman?? They can always recast and probably will. What’s the rush?
    its similar to a widow who loses her husband. Does she have to rush to remarry? Or can she just take her time

      i hear where youre comin from. But at the same time, marvel is a business at the end of the day and the sole interest of all businesses is to make money and stay in business. In this case, would be giving the fanbase what they want in the form of continuing the Black Panther story with Tchalla. Not to mention, there are other characters in the MCU who the original actor passed away but the characters they played will still be recast. It woulda been one thing if they didnt kill off Tchalla and instead just said he's off world or is somewhere else handling business and just not had him in the movie as the central character. Then they coulda brought him back later instead of saying he was "gone".

      I hate when uninformed people speak on things they know nothing about. Nate Moore said that T’Challa will never be recasted in the MCU. The whole argument of “what’s the rush?” Is irrelevant… They are literally killing off the character of T’Challa in Wakanda Forever. It’s interesting how people blindly follow bs without question.

      @@derektheproducer although I appreciate your passion, Ryan Coogler was HIGHLY responsible for the success of that movie 🍿, I LOVE Ryan’s other movies as well “Fruitville station”,”Creed”, he’s given me no reason to not trust his judgement on movie making. So far Black Panther 2 is getting RAVE reviews so perhaps you anger is misguided. Either way, don’t get mad at me, I’m just some dude in the comment section.
      Kevin said the Brie Larson would be the most important superhero in the MCU, now she’s been pushed all the way to the back, sharing her movie with other “marvels”.

    A great Actor and a great Man……..it was out of respect since chad left such a huge impact around the world however Black Panther is bigger than one Actor. Black Panther is huge in the Marvel Universe he even gets married to Storm from the X-Men. The Story is to big not to recast him. Honor him by recasting the role that way you give respect to Black Panther but you give respect to chad and his legacy. With all this muti universe stuff happening now its the right time to bring new actor to own he role
