    Those lift blocks should be running with springs NOT THE AXLE, if you turn the blocks sideways, it WILL allow the axle to roll upward under torque, I've already been through this with this exact truck and setup.

    • @nsrimmer84
      @nsrimmer84  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You are correct. The rear blocks need to run the direction of the truck, not with the axle. I wish TH-cam had a way I could repost the video with a text correction and keep this thread going.

      @jeremysurratt4489 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is confusing bc the directions say thick end towards the center of the truck, that will pull the pinion angle down which doesn’t make sense. Lol I installed the blocks like this video said and had major vibration during acceleration …. Might want to edit the description or take the video down

    Just finished the 2.5 lift on my 1995 F-150 and what a chore. Firstly the instructions are not clear and are actually false in a few places. There are two different sets of bolts listed on the instructions listed as the same, not until they get put into the wrong spot do they need to be removed and replaced. Every bracket had holes that did not line up and had to be ground out or redrilled, one bracket I had to drill my own hole. I busted off two bolt heads because the cheap washers in the kit deformed and bent so bad the bolt heads twisted off. Ended up spending @ $10.00 for two new bolts and washers for everything I hadn't done already. I'm glad I had a pneumatic chisel because removing the factorey rivets is a real pain, grind, cut, chisel. You must have several sets of drill bits to get to the 1/2 and 9/16 holes that need to be drilled. I busted one 1/2 inch drill bit and a step drill seemed to help out a lot. Over all the shocks and springs seem to be good quality, the materials for the brackets seemed good but poorly fabricated, the holes just didn't line up to the frame holes and I don't think ford changed their hole positions while in production. I think because it is an older truck, Rough Country probably doesn't sell enough of these to improve or set quality control. I'd give it a 2 out of 5 just for the problems involved. 1 guy, 20+ HOURS.

    • @nsrimmer84
      @nsrimmer84  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nathan England get a camber kit. The alignment shop can throw it on to fix excessive positive camber. Mine aligned within factory tolerance on one side and just out of spec on the other side so I didn't bother with the camber kit

    • @nsrimmer84
      @nsrimmer84  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, get all your non-standard tools together (torch, air gun/ratchet, large breaker bars, various cutoff devices, universal joint adapters, socket extensions, etc) and then plan on a whole weekend. If you don't need to do the tie rods then that will save a lot of time. I burned at least 4 hours trying to get the pitman arm off before I finally took the cutoff tool to it. Without the tie rod problems and having done it once, I could do it all in one day now.

    • @nsrimmer84
      @nsrimmer84  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used the 2.5" suspension lift kit from RC. To raise just the front end you're talking about a leveling kit, which is basically just replacing the front springs with taller ones, or using spacer blocks. That will raise your front end 2" in the front (versus 4" which is what the "2.5" lift kit gives you in the front, plus 2" in the back) They have those on the RC website and a lot of other sources online.

You mentioned "camber adjustment kit", which length adjustment did you go with? I want to do this one time n one time only, if you know what I mean. Your tires - you said are 32" tall, do they actually measure 32 inches tall? I run 31" Cooper AT3 xlt tires on my truck with the stock 15x7.5 wheels; to which I noticed today (when looking at the specs on their site) the tire measure smaller then what is ordered. Such as if you order 31" tires they will measure 30 inches tall. Am I reading their specs right? I want to go 32's or 33's - seeing Cooper's site says 33's actually measure 32.xx . If you don't know its cool. Just figured you might of and I took a shot with the tire question.

    I don't understand why you guys level these trucks! Ford built them with a small raise in the rear for a reason! It was done for safety of loads in the bed! When loaded with heavy load it stabilizes the truck! Notice the Chevys with a sagging rear when loaded! Very unsafe!

    • @alphaclean3364
      @alphaclean3364 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I go back and forth on this myself. I know the rake compensates for heavy loads or trailers and stabilizes the steering. But the lift makes it look sooooooo nice. My truck works for a living and is regularly towing/loaded. So it's definitely more practical to leave the suspension stock. But the lift looks SO. GOOD.

    • @nsrimmer84
      @nsrimmer84  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It comes down to personal preference. Some guys want the biggest tires and the highest lift they can get. This setup is exactly what I wanted -
      it looks aggressive and is obviously not stock. The 11.5" wide tires make it look bigger without going higher. I can also still get into most parking garages, which may or may not be a factor where you live. You also won't have to change out brake lines. Unless you want really "big" you won't be disappointed with this setup.
