Didn’t know accepting a drink was not acceptable behavior during an interview since I was raised to know that not accepting a drink is rude behavior. I certainly wouldn’t want to be rude to my boss. That’s confusing. It’s a drink- I don’t understand why your not to accept a water?
Drinking water prior to an interview is better since a water bottle or any other closed drinking vessel serves as a distraction to the both the interviewer and interviewee. They are ways though, when accepting an offer of a beverage, to ensure that it won't become a distraction.

Interesting. In Germany, it's quite common and recommended to accept a drink, any other behaviour is considered rather rude.
