I feel that portraying sociopaths as villans and stuff, but a lot of times, sociopaths have gone through SIGNIFICANT trauma to get to the mental state that they are in. They aren't villains. They are ordinary people who have been given a pretty shitty hand at life and shut down and suppress their emotions, so they don't get hurt anymore. They have emotions they just push them to the side to keep what dignity or pride they may have.

PaintedCollection trauma is frequently the cause of bad behavior or the inability to understand social interactions but not all sociopaths treat people badly. they struggle very frequently with social interactions much like someone on the autism spectrum may. my boyfriend who is a diagnosed sociopath is often scared of his lack of emotion and careless behavior but is one of the most empathetic people i have ever met. he cries when he sees dogs and babies because he is so overwhelmed with his emotion of joy which he cannot feel very frequently. trauma shouldn't be used as an excuse but it should be used as a way to understand others better.

I think they have a stereotype (which they don't realize they have). That all sociopaths MUST be focusing on harming others or destroying people or going on a murder spree. I don't agree. She's speaking from a non-sociopathic point of view. If you don't have a disorder like that, you're gonna be shocked by it. To believe that is as ridiculous as believing anyone without ASPD is an angel who could never be manipulative. Its horrifying to think people believe that a personality disorder makes you some kind of predator that requires a warning sign. They're people with a mental disorder. To label them as dangerous is as damaging as saying "you should really stay away people with anxiety all they do is make a big deal out of everything and stress you out. They're no good for you".

I’m a psych nurse, and this seemed very distasteful and clumsily covered. I wish they’d taken a more scientific and unbiased approach than “horror story” tone. They should have objectively described the disorder, given the facts, and left out the “icky” and “something’s off” descriptions.

@@CoolerThanUniworld the people themselves are NOT demons...but demons (spiritual entities) do exist and have the ability to lodge themselves within a human body. Demonic possession isn't an always "In your face" situation. They can also be quite subtle. They also dont run the human being 100% but CAN lay dormant and manifest when they choose. If you hone your senses enough...or have had enough experience with certain individuals, there is a good chance you can see/sense that they may not be the only ones living inside of the body of the soul you were communicating with.
My dad was a sociopath and when I learned the signs it was so obvious. He didn’t care about anyone. He used people for his own gain. He had moved into my mums house within a month or so and had me within the year. It’s easier to recognise a sociopath having lived with one.
Yeah I obviously can’t determine this stuff but I know for a fact my dad was. And when she was talking about trauma and the example, because it was relatable it actually really makes you question things.
I'm late to the party and this is probably going to get lost. But I'm diagnosed with ASPD. It's not a desirable outcome. I'm not any less human. This generalization of who is or isn't a sociopath is extremely broad and the history behind diagnosing someone is super extensive; you cannot use an online 'persona' as a basis for diagnosing someone. This has to be one of the most insulting videos about mental health out there, because not only is it dramatizing mental health, but it is causing confusion and compounds the issue. And this therapist, who claims that I am 'disgusting' and 'icky' or whatever, needs to be evaluated ASAP. This is absolutely revolting.
@@vanityplates3125 You would end up panicking yourself into a state of relaxation if you were smart about it. Your body initiates calmness when you start not being able to breathe so you can relax and see if the ability to breathe comes back, it may feel like you are going to suffocate, but you wont unless there is force over the blanket over your face squishing around so you have no air, but if you have room under there, you can breathe but feel like its not enough air and panic and feel like you get less air, but if you end up losing air because of it, you pass out and breathe and survive. You have to hold someones airways shut tight for a good 4-5 mins to make them pass out from lack of oxygen. But when that happens, your body automatically starts breathing again and if no one is holding your airways shut when you are passed out and assume your dead, you wake up. Its really not dangerous at all. You would have to hold their airways shut for like 10-15 mins to kill them. Like leave their head underwater after they pass out so when they breathe again all they get is water and never wake up.

So I'm gonna say that the dsm-5 and phsycology is a seriously flawed and broad resource to be diagnosing people. If mental health professionals actually new anything there wouldn't be so many crazy people in the world, especially America has the highest rate of mental illness so I would take this lady's words with a grain of salt Kids fycking shooting up schools at rates i cant even keep track of. Just like a sociopath from the lady's description, phsycologists extract information from people needing help to give them whatever they want, a diagnosis. In return they get what they want $, Every politician, corporation, marketing person must be sociopaths CU's they manipulate people to get what they want. Whether that's money, donations, getting elected, or just customers, those people will use marketing, propaganda, PR stunts to get reactions that give them what they want. Psycology if very flawed if not down right a hoax. All the phsycologist wana get majority of the population on SSRI medication, as they say they can see when chemical imbalances in the brain are off. That is a flat lie. There has never been any tests able to relay that info. Really its probably just pharmaceutical companies pushing new drugs that they are going to make billions from, and in 10 years there will prob be a lot of dead people or people fucked up worse than they were as the medicine is getting recalled and there's commercials saying were u prescribed this, if so you could have a lawsuit. Pharmaceutical companies and doctors don't care as by the time shit hits the fan they are willing to break bread in a lawsuit because it wouldn't even be anything to pay lawsuits CU's they already profited so much. This video sucked, and the phsycologist looked like she was using manipulation to push her and big pharmas agenda for money. Very bias, if they new what they were doing and weren't just in it for money people wouldn't be going as crazy as the do at the crazy rates that they do. Very disapointed in this video.

I’m a psych nurse, and this seemed very distasteful and clumsily covered. I wish they’d taken a more scientific and unbiased approach than “horror story” tone. They should have objectively described the disorder, given the facts, and left out the “icky” and “something’s off” descriptions.

Also on top of that he didn’t apologize, AND he monetized it. Stop trying to make it seem like Shane is innocent at all. He still did a horrible thing.

I feel that the video completely stigmatised people suffering from mental illness and she abused her position of authenticity as a clinician. Sociopaths don't choose to be that way and their lack of empathy shouldn't be used in such a way against them. @@CoolerThanUniworld the people themselves are NOT demons...but demons (spiritual entities) do exist and have the ability to lodge themselves within a human body. Demonic possession isn't an always "In your face" situation. They can also be quite subtle. They also dont run the human being 100% but CAN lay dormant and manifest when they choose. If you hone your senses enough...or have had enough experience with certain individuals, there is a good chance you can see/sense that they may not be the only ones living inside of the body of the soul you were communicating with.
My dad was a sociopath and when I learned the signs it was so obvious. He didn’t care about anyone. He used people for his own gain. He had moved into my mums house within a month or so and had me within the year. It’s easier to recognise a sociopath having lived with one.

Yeah I obviously can’t determine this stuff but I know for a fact my dad was. And when she was talking about trauma and the example, because it was relatable it actually really makes you question things.

This generalization of who is or isn't a sociopath is extremely broad and the history behind diagnosing someone is super extensive; you cannot use an online 'persona' as a basis for diagnosing someone. This has to be one of the most insulting videos about mental health out there, because not only is it dramatizing mental health, but it is causing confusion and compounds the issue. And this therapist, who claims that I am 'disgusting' and 'icky' or whatever, needs to be evaluated ASAP. This is absolutely revolting.

@@vanityplates3125 You would end up panicking yourself into a state of relaxation if you were smart about it. Your body initiates calmness when you start not being able to breathe so you can relax and see if the ability to breathe comes back, it may feel like you are going to suffocate, but you wont unless there is force over the blanket over your face squishing around so you have no air, but if you have room under there, you can breathe but feel like its not enough air and panic and feel like you get less air, but if you end up losing air because of it, you pass out and breathe and survive. You have to hold someones airways shut tight for a good 4-5 mins to make them pass out from lack of oxygen. But when that happens, your body automatically starts breathing again and if no one is holding your airways shut when you are passed out and assume your dead, you wake up. Its really not dangerous at all. You would have to hold their airways shut for like 10-15 mins to kill them. Like leave their head underwater after they pass out so when they breathe again all they get is water and never wake up.
