- THE NINTENDO SWITCH might seem like a barebones system on the surface. While it has some awesome unique features, it lacks many things you’ll find on the Xbox One or PS4. Even so, the Nintendo Switch has a number of hidden features you probably don’t know about.

Did you know you can use a USB keyboard to input text on Switch? Or that Nintendo has tucked a full-fledged internet browser onto the system, just out of sight? And those Joy-Con controllers are much more versatile than they seem at first. Not only can you use them to play Switch games, but you can even connect them to your phone or computer to play games. If you’ve ever binged through a game only to wonder how much time you actually poured into it, the Switch lets you check your play time in any game you’ve played. Not only that, but the Switch can also turn on your TV.
And don’t think you’re locked into games released in your region. You can set up a new eShop account to buy and play games from any region. If you’re in the mood for a new game but don’t want to spend a lot of money, you can see which games are on sale at any time in the eShop. If you frequently find yourself running through your battery’s charge, you might want to get yourself an external battery pack to squeeze out more playtime. If you’re the only one who plays your Switch, you can make it stop asking which user you are each time you start up a new game. And finally, if you manage to lose track of a Joy-Con, the Switch can help you find it.
Not a bad set of features for such a tiny game console.

I’d recommend if you are planning on going download only for your games that you buy one physical game (preferably a rather large one like Zelda BOTW) and just keep it in your switch. You maintain the convenience of being able to use it along with all of your other games without swapping game cards, the download size is much smaller, and physical games tend to cost less too.
botw is litterly the only game i bought online (game stop is a life saver)

One feature that I think is really clever is actually a safety feature. With Nintendo being geared toward kids often, and the Switch using tiny cartridges, you’d expect choking to be a serious danger, right? Well, they put a coating of flavor on all Cartridges to make them taste HORRIBLE and even sting a little in the mouth

You've got me licking all of them. Some of them taste better than others....ooops gotta go, the Walmart security guards coming. I don't even have a Switch!
Did you know you could use the switch joycon grip as a spare piece of bread for your toast? It's a little bit extra crunchy and burnt... but it does the job.
Another tip is the ability to update your games without connecting to the internet by downloading it from another user. If you press the options button (the + button) on the main menu for one of your game, and navigate to Software Update, you'll find Match Version with Local Users which is how you match to their updated version of their game.
You can turn up the volume of your switch without pressing the button, or do other stuff like this with the quick menu. While you are playing, press the home button for a few seconds and the quick menu would appear on the right hand side :)
Problem with #10: It in most cases will be longer to take out the keyboard, plug it in the switch, and then type it in, instead of typing it in with the joy-cons. This isn't the wii here, where you have a shaky pointer to put in the credit card. You don't use your keyboard much anyway on the switch.

Correction: the game you buy in sweden WILL PLAY IN Englsih. All games are multi language. You can actually buy a physical copy of i am setsuna in japan, the only country where it was released in box, and it will play in english or whatever làguage your system is setup to.

I love my Switch but I actually have my New 3dsxl I my pocket AS IM TYPING THIS!! I love all my ds’ and even my Game Boy Advance sp001! Play them as much as I play my switch. Crazy huh?

For that keyboard thing, the switch has a touchscreen for that. The only thing a keyboard would be necessary for would be when the switch is in tv mode.

What keyboards work to control the switch and do you have to buy an adapter
Does anyone know if when the Nintendo "live" starts, is it going to be profile specific of it will be open to any profile on that system? Say you had USA, German and China eshop setups. Will you have to have 3 live accounts?

The direct battery strap-on is not a good idea since the Joycon are calibrated for a certain weight and a bigger battery _currently_ adds a lot of weight! 😉

You don't need to actually create another user to buy from different storefronts. Just change the country location on MyNintendo website.

What's cool about the Switch is that you can play some games from another region in your system's language. In other words, if I bought a Japanese version of Zelda BOTW, I can still play the game already translated in English because the game supports the language.

Wow the browser tip is so helpful because I will totally want to pause the game, go into Facebook and then go into gmail then go into google on the switch instead of just using my iphone
