My main problem is subconsciously being calmer with bots and extremely flinchy and aggressive against players with my mouse. I have such a hard time getting over that. Maybe it's confidence? cause if i'm slammin' i do so much better.
Did you break past the barrier, or at least make solid progress? I'd like to hear about it. This is something I've been struggling with. I've decided to just blank my mind and accept sometimes even perfect play wouldn't have saved me. Focusing on bigger picture strategy and tactics so I don't need to outperform enemies. A lot of growing pains breaking muscle memory and thinking pattern. Oh well, no pain no gain or whatever.
I absolutely love this strafe idea, I've always wondered how the best way to avoid damage in direct fire from an explained scientific perspective not just "Trust me, this is how you do it because I'm better than you" but an actual explanation. Ide love to see a follow up or a deep dive into this sorta stuff more. Well done dodds, love this video, a real banger!
pro tip: if you go right they wont expect you to go left. i noticed lucid crouches in one direction and steps in the other alot. when my strafe doesn't work, i crouch strafe right twice then walk strafe left. i call it, reverse Cstepx2 stage 0
The editing is top notch sir. Reminds me so much of original red vs blue content. I LOL'd so hard at feeling confident in training and going to matchmaking only to get shit on. The music. LOL
You know what I've always wanted to try was a duel mouse set up effectively eliminating the Keyboard entirely so one mouse is tied to movement, grenades, jumping/climbing and equipment while the other is tied to aiming, weapon switching, shooting, and getting into vehicles or you know however you want the set up to be
Nice vid I'll have to try this out. I agree, crouching on long distance fights doesn't seem to help much. I've been watching the sloth series from the beginning - one thing I wanted to mention was the scan feature. I'm sure you know about it but there were a couple of times you were looking for something on the ground and couldn't spot it. Scanning makes it much easier to find snipers/OS/camo that got dropped.
Great video, this gave me so much more insight on movement/strafing, there’s also a settin where u can change how far your stick goes before u start to move and would like to play around with that too
Yeah strafing can be tricky to see how it looks. I should watch how I strafe in theater mode, it feels like you get into a pattern and once you notice that player doing a particular pattern they will do it all the time.
I really should mention, practicing strafing against bots is a bit useless. They aren't missing like how humans miss, if they want to hit you they will hit you. They have great movement built in, practicing shooting bots is a lot better. Also I am skeptical on how effective crouching is as a strafing tool. I rarely miss opponents who crouch in their engagements, I struggle a lot more with people with just a good left-right thing going on.
Bro you’re like the Halo version of DreamStrike. I don’t know if you know who that is but if you don’t, he doesn’t the same content but for COD. It’s very close to how you do it except you add more comedy. lol this is amazing.
I wish you would’ve went into your view when talking about the timing of their bursts. My pea brain needs to see that visual. Lol. I like to strafe with a short and then long but the long strafe in the same direction. (On that particular battle not every battle is right focused or left focused..)My thought, hopefully forces them to to use more right stick aiming. 🤷🏻♂️
Traditionally for halo it's been better to aim for the neck instead of the head as bullet magnetism will auto go to the head. (Halo 3 it was more towards the right shoulder for some reason, also 3s elites necks didn't have hit boxes). That way when some one crouches it still hits them and if they jump it still hits them especially now since infinite doesn't do extra damage for heads until the sheild is broken it's better to aim closer to the chest than the neck.
I have tried to break down my strafe. While I learned some things, nothing improved LOL. It's hard for me from the player's POV, to gauge what you are doing in your strafe. But maybe that's a mistake because a lot of people are worried about how and how much to move when strafing. I feel there's definitely a timing aspect to it that high players probably subconsciously master.
I didn't even know you can turn the shield opacity down. I thought it was about like the subtitles font or something. it's completely clear through walls you can turn that off for both teams. and it feels so much more like halo. when this game came out and you couldnt turn that down in thickness or opacity it took me like a month to get used to the fact that the shields always looked popped. like i thought everyone was half dead by default. lol strafing was the thing to do when you had a pistol rifle. now theres 2 rifles or just the br. theres no point. lol.
On mnk it’s just annoying. I can still hit body shots consistently but headshots become impossible as I don’t have tracking. Minute I see someone strafing or crab rave I just grenade and retreat, because I am gonna lose that 1on1 more times than not.
I honestly prefer the classic strafing so much. The strafe acceleration is too high in infinite to the point where it's bordering on just being random whether your shots hit the player or not. A bit like ADAD on pistol rounds in csgo. Yeah there's an art to it, being able to memorise a rhythm, but it was so much more methodical in CE - Reach (zbns).
So heres how to strafe, stop playing halo and play the player you're against, you have to feel it. When you feel it you're in the other players head. An once you're in thier head you can do anything. Also its a video game so this next tip isn't alaways true because game durps a lot, but watch the muzzle of thier gun and never cross if its not pointed at you. Look to cross when its already pointed on you. Another tip good old fashion lag strafe from halo 3. Still works.
I've started playing with zero HUD or HUD at 0.1 with a 3rd party crosshair (tiny dot) and I like it. I find the HUD and default crosshair distracting. The crosshairs are too busy and HUD occupies my undiagnosed ADHD vision. 😂. I'm going to die anyways.. I don't need to know I had 20 bullets left. I wish there was a toggle to bring it up and then hide it.. or select what part of the HUD to keep onscreen.
You'd be surprised how little difference there is between 1400 and 1600. Especially if it's a dead game where nobody is incentived to try unless they're prepping for tournaments
@@JJaX80 I mean the aiming part where he said 'let aim assist do the rest' Is there any tip for reticle placements and tracking for shooting when strafing?
@@j1883311 yes, subtle movements with your right hand. That’s what I do; just focus on hitting shots and the strafe crouch is autopilot. But just like on controller, majority of your aim comes from your feet and movement. Also lots of people jump when they’re one shot, so you can jump as well instead of adjusting your aim.
Another tip is get used to tea bagging 😂 it's crazy but useful if u been tea bagging since halo 3 u can literally do a tea bag/ strafe and u can mix it up if necessary 😉
I really like the thought process behind this. But I feel that an enemy who is patient can wait to take the shot until you strafe into it versus spamming shots at max fire rate. Sometimes I quickly land 3 body shots and then take a moment to acquire the head and finish them with the BR. I do feel like despite the large amount of aim of assist the BR is inconsistent though. I wish the bandit rifle felt more responsive than it does.

I think Infinite will support it; people have run Switch Pro controllers I think with gyro aim tied to the mouse. You might could make it work
No
You forgot too that PC players have almost zero straff inertia. The advantage is huge for them.
I guess on keyboard. But most people play controller
@DoddsMcFodds I wish we could see who was playing on mnk like on mcc. Some of those guys have cracked movement!
You are criminally under watched! Incredible content mate 💯
Thanks that’s so nice to hear!
I was told by an Onyx 1700 to go left then right then left and crouch, and repeat until the enemy is 1 shot, then jump to finish him off.
