    Great break-down, and your videos are excellent in general. If you or others here wouldn't mind giving some input, I have two questions: 1) Does the Rally Pro feel significantly different from a the GT Pro in terms of on-road handing? 2) Aside from the electronic rear shock on the GT Pro, Is the Rally Pro in any way compromised relative to the GT Pro for long-distance, on-road touring? I know I will do a bunch of touring, but like the idea of getting into off-road a bit. Thanks for any feedback!

    • @mikehale7393
      @mikehale7393 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Rally pro is like chalk and cheese in comparison to the GT pro with the later being the chalk, in my opinion it’s better on the road as well as off road than the GT pro. If your touring with a pillion the rally pro comes as standard with a heated rear pillion seat and I never had any instability with the fully adjustable suspension on the road provided it’s setup for your weight and road use.
      If you want to take it off road you would have to adjust the suspension settings and tyre pressure to suite the conditions

  • @owlinthewood
    @owlinthewood 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The biggest appeal to me is the lighter and lower slung engine. I’ve always found my 800XC top heavy. The off road versions always look better but I think I’d opt for the GT this time. Super comfy bikes.

  • @Bubble7481
    @Bubble7481 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thanks very helpful. I test rode both the GT Pro and Rally Pro and bought the latter. It has a taller seat with more leg room (pegs to saddle) which suits my long frame. The stock suspension on the Rally Pro handles the crap roads in West Berkshire very well and despite the fact it will rarely go off road it suited me well. I'll let you know more once I get a few miles covered.

      Any chance of an update?
      I’m torn. I’ll probably never go off-road, but the Rally looks and sounds perfect, aside from that skinny front wheel.
      Does the front feel planted enough?
      Any gripes at all?
      Cheers.

    • @BrechtGijbels
      @BrechtGijbels 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm also doubting thinking about the RP 900. Only downside in comparison to the Tiger 1200 is that the suspension is not electrical. When you're riding on degraded roads with the RP 900, is the ride comfortable/plush? Or do you feel every bump in the road?

    • @Bubble7481
      @Bubble7481 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BrechtGijbels I rode all three on a longish 30 mile test ride and the Rally Pro was the most plush. The GT did have some electrical wizardry but it made little difference to me on the awful roads out here. The big 21inch wheel on the RP is thinner but is more than capable on the twisties. (you need to play around with the manual settings on the front suspension a bit). The higher rider position and in my opinion better looking RP beat the GT. The green in lovely but at the time of my order had a three month waiting list so I went for the black. 1600 miles in and enjoying it - have yet to go off road and probably won't (get a Honda CRF250 for that) as it's 200kgs. The 900 RP is a brilliant all rounder imho.

      @@Bubble7481 I too live in Berkshire and am torn between the GT Pro and Rally Pro, but at 6' 5" prefer the height of the Rally. My main use will commuting into London and weekend club rides, all tarmac. My only slight reservation is the 21" front wheel, but it sounds as though this hasn't caused you any negative concerns? Cheers in advance for a follow up, Rob.

    I bought a Tiger 900 GT Pro earlier this year, and it's a very capable bike that receives a lot of compliments - especially when people hear the exhaust (throat); which sounds excellent for a stock system. Brought the Rally Pro but I am too short for it so have lowered it by 35mm by fitting Lust Racing rear lowering kit(instructions advise dropping fork tubes 15mm in yokes) and the shorter GT Pro side stand, now I feel much more confident pushing bike around on uneven ground due to shorter side stand and can now get both feet on the ground as opposed to having to shift bum over to one side to flat foot and strain to reach the handle bar with the opposing arm if stopped on an awkward camber.
    Don’t regret trading in my 2017 StripleRS and getting the Rally Pro one bit as it got the green paint option and even though it’s down on BHP due to the higher torque low down in the rev range it’s faster on lanes and twisty A roads, I very rarely reved my old bike over 10,000 rpm preferring to upshift early. Both bikes will happy do 30mph in 5th gear with no trouble but the pickup on the Tiger is much quicker and that suits my riding style better.

    It needs a few improvements:
    1) The tachometer style is appalling, it looks like a cheap electronic toy and is not clear, it should be an option to more traditional style, I know you can change the layout but the style of the tachometer remains the same throughout different layouts.
    2) Less flimsy indicators
    3) A little longer front mudguard to protect the radiator and the regulator/rectifier (why should we have to buy aftermarket accessoires since we are already paying a lot and it should have all the protections from the factory?) It would be more neat also if it was a little longer from the factory.
    4) The settings should stay where they were left before switching the engine off with the exemption of ABS which could return back on if it was set off.
    Most of the above are a deal breaker for me, you were so close Triumph…

      Efficient Man #1 for sure. #4 I was unaware of, but yes ABS should be the only thing that defaults on for legal reasons. I remember my E-golf would default to cold air and seat warmers off every start up. Drove me crazy.

    I have 30000 km on my GT Pro and I often question if i bought the right one. I love doing off road but out of the 30000km I would say maybe 2-3k would be off road. That said I have been able to keep up with T7's and 1200's off road. I love the automatic suspension and that helped influence the decision. for the heaver off road I picked up a KLX300 and with the 2 bikes I'm more then set. Had I known I was going to love off road riding as much as I do now, I might have gone for the Rally Pro. i did get held up a few times due to the traction control which did cause some limitations an ultimately a broken collar bone. I love my GT Pro and look forward to another 15-20k km season.

    I'm thinking I might get the 900GT low, I'm not too tall and I like to flat foot, plus mostly I will be on road. However I fancy having a go at some off road stuff, nothing to difficult, maybe the 900GT low with more off-roady tyres would work fine. Can't find any reviews on how capable the GT is at off road, every search always brings up the Rally Pro.

For some reason I like the Rally(not pro), put knobbies on it, engine guards, sump plate.......off road and country roads, light and nimble. Worth the trade ??? or add the 900 to the stable? Leave the extras on my XRT, and save it. Any suggestions, !

I am looking to move to the 900 GT Pro or Rally Pro from the Scrambler 1200 xc. I find the Scrambler top heavy at times. Hoping the 900 Tiger GT Pro and Rally Pro are slightly less top heavy or at the very least, not more top heavy.

    Shame they don't offer the road range with that lovely white frame. 94 hp is a little low for modern 900 triple engine. The Yamaha Tracer produces 113hp from a similar capacity and no one says that bike lacks grunt. It clearly is a very good machine but I personally think it could do with a bit more power.

There is a gap between this bike that I like and the next one. It has straight bars, round headlight, and is quite a bit taller then the next 5 bikes. Two spots to the left of it is (looking from my point of view) is either a Speed Triple or Street Triple, can't quite make it out. I am a tall rider so this model seems like it would suit me.
