Kinda lame that Jason and Chamath couldn’t indulge Freidberg for even one minute. All we got was “Sounds delicious” instead at least a microgram of support for something that their alleged bestie feels strongly about.

Thank you Friedberg for reminding us of the importance of treating others with love and kindness, even if those others are pigs. It may not seem as important as the other issues discussed here, but ultimately, maybe it's the most important point of all. Cruelty in any form should upset us.
But there are plenty of American companies that are involved in factory-farming too. I wonder why he decided to highlight a Chinese company that operates in China and supplies pork to a Chinese market? Why not mention a US company that is engaging in factory farming? It would have been more effective since listeners of the pod could avoid the product, if they choose to. It seemed like empty virtue signaling to me.

It’s a really idiotic reaction. I just don’t understand why they keep doing that. Do they think that makes them look cool? Sad and unnecessary behavior in an otherwise great episode.

Centre party name should be the Stoa Party. Stoa's in ancient Greece were like town squares where people would learn from eachother and freely discuss thoughts, opinions and ideas. The Stoic philosophy was born in Stoas. The name Stoa fits nicley along with the ancient Greek orgin names of Republican and Democrat also.
I always find Friedberg’s opinion to be most objective. He doesn’t say what he wishes to be true (unlike Chamath), he says what he thinks to be true. I still like Jason the best for his morality and compassion.
Thank you gents for sharing your thoughts. It is very helpful for any critical thinker to understand how the real world works. It should be a mandatory listening for young people.
I'm really curious why it doesn't come up with them! Especially with an extended discusion about third parties and names. Do they really not follow Yang's 3rd party effort (which would be surprising with Chamath having been on Yang's podcast) or do they just not like what he's specifically doing?

The laughter at about 52:30 minutes in after Friedberg described the horrors of the Chinese pig farm informed me how callous and inconsiderate most of this crew is. If they feel no empathy for intelligent animals subjected to a lifetime of cruelty, how can they have empathy for humans subjected to a life of stress and deprivation due to lack of opportunities because of the circumstance they were born into?

I like the idea of a third party like "The One Party," which emphasizes unity and collaboration above all else. In this party, our differences are seen as strengths that can help us achieve common goals for the benefit of all.
@@johannakoo1657 When considering the name "The One Party" for a third-party, it's important to note that the term "one" can symbolize unity and a singular focus on collective welfare rather than division. The concept doesn't advocate for a one-party system but rather emphasizes the idea of unity among diverse perspectives. In this context, "The One Party" suggests a coming together of individuals with different ideologies under a shared vision for the common good. It doesn't imply a single-party dominance but rather a collaborative approach where differences are respected and leveraged to address societal challenges. Addressing your comment respectfully, you can explain that the name "The One Party" reflects a desire for unity and cooperation among different viewpoints, rather than advocating for a one-party system.
