I wish I didn't see the notification to this cause im bloody starving and would eat this whole thing in one go INCLUDING THE BOWL! but THANK YOU FOR THIS RECIPE!!! (no thanks to myself for clicking this video because my stomach is crying )
Although this may taste good it's not the same you've eaten in Chinese restaurants, the real version uses Sichuan peppercorn instead of black pepper and probably a lot of msg (you can skip the msg but it won't be the same, and don't worry, msg is not bad for you).
“I just don’t wanna dirty another pan” and “It was 3/4 cup but now it’s a cup” That is where you know it’s a real Asian cooking for ya!! No one in my family ever uses measuring cups while cooking and my grandpa was a pro chef
I made it tonight!!!!!! We had steamed jasmine rice and I made pork patties with dark soy, garlic, fish sauce and five spice to go with it. Zero left overs so yummy!
There was a Chinese restaurant in a town near where I lived that served these. When I was young my family would go there after church on Sunday. My family got really close to the owners family and we would eat with them after close. I miss them and that shrimp. The restaurant has long since closed and we moved away, but I’ll never forget eat with them after close.
Made your salt and pepper shrimp for dinner last night and it was AMAZING. I'm making it again tonight because I'm hooked. Thank you for the recipe and the fun commentary.
Outstanding production! Your channel should be #1 among ALL cooking shows. I don't use commercial TV, so TH-cam is the perfect home! Thank you Seonkyoung and family!
I watched your video "I've been faking".... I'm so sorry that people are so mean and don't find that genuinely beautiful spirits like you are enjoyable to watch!! You are human being and allowed to feel BUT allow me to say that your energy and personality is so loving and I smile watching your videos from start to finish!!!! Keep on being your beautiful soulful self!!! Sending many hugs from Brooklyn NY!!!
I love your cooking! I’m Mexican and some of our authentic food is so elaborate my husband always wants complicated dishes but I show him your videos and he asks me to make your food and he’s quite pleased! It cut my cooking time in half and my kid loves it too😊
I was just about to check and see if you've ever made Salt and pepper shrimp. I'm soo glad you did this video. Now tomorrow Im going to make the salt and pepper shrimp your way minus the hot peppers and Im going to cut some scallions up to fry in the oil to wit a little of parsley to, then I'm going to make some salt and Pepper garlic chicken with some veggies to go with tnis. Thank you soo much for this video.
I love this amazing cooking cLass you presented. Not because of how simple you made this look but just the fact you guys are enjoying yourselves. I look forward to seeing more of your cooking classes. Your family can dance to. Lol!
My Aunty married a My uncle who's a chef from Hong Kong....and they run a restaurant. And salt and pepper squid is a standard on our order every time we go there to eat. And as soon as were done with the dish I always save the fried bits of garlic and chili to my chili oil and have it with the rest of my meal. It's that good!!! And I try to make this all the time but it's never the same. I get all the same ingredients but I think because the heat isnt as hot it doesn't turn out as well as uncles.
I watched a bunch of salt n pepper shrimp videos and only yours looks similar to how my favorite Chinese place use to do it. I actually worked at that place after she saw me so often and I think they used both corn starch and potato starch! The skin would be slightly thicker than yours but also have a crispy outside. Thinking more about it I believe they would mix corn starch + water to put the shrimp in first and then powder it good with potato starch mixed with a little corn starch. I loved making it mildly spicy. They would chop a small amount of jalapeño, sautéed it a bit and then put that on top with some crushed red pepper. THE BEST. I need to try this out sometime soon. I have been craving all the Chinese food from my old job lol.
Made these tonight. Crispy and addictive. Followed the recipe and used potato starch = snap, crackle, pop crispy. Discussing making this again tomorrow night.
OMG Seonkyoung I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this video... thank you for choosing my bf and I's song Endlessly (Sang Gak Hae)!! I couldn't believe it. Have watched you for years (I've been trying to learn Korean cooking ;)), so thank you so much for choosing it. That opening edit could have been our music video! So goooood :)
My favorite Chinese restaurant where I order this from has closed down so I've been searching for a good salt and pepper shrimp recipe. Thank you so much. Love your personality 🤗
Just made these today along with sautéd kale (sauted skinny bok choy recipe) and OMG! BOMB! So delicious! Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes.
You can HEAR the crispiness when they hit the mixing bowl!!!
You're hearing the tails
Yes it was amazing. I’ve never got to fry shrimp to that level of crispiness
When the happy dance follows a bite it’s definitely a must try!😋

Why am I surprised that salt and pepper shrimp only requires salt and pepper for seasoning? Sometimes, cooking is just not that complicated.😁
I found another recipe that has chicken buillon powder. It's in a book by Jet Tila.

Yep,sometimes the best recipes are the simplest-more than the sum of their parts.
This woman's great. The dancing white guy adds a lot.
What are you talking about? She is using chili, garlic and starch as well. Still dont understand why all asian food comes with the tail still on.
@@unzipper Because they eat the tell also.

Yes I agree. I asked my mom for certain recipes and she will say “put some of this and some of that and taste it. No need to measure la”.. Lol
I made it tonight!!!!!! We had steamed jasmine rice and I made pork patties with dark soy, garlic, fish sauce and five spice to go with it. Zero left overs so yummy!
