Some other bugs that happened: When Rise of Shadows' preorder dropped, instead of making the free legendaries available on launch, they accidentally made them available immediately. Since the game was trying to give you cards that didn't exist, some players got rewarded adventure and Tavern Brawl cards. There's a popular Reddit thread of someone who got the Darius Crowley hero card from Monster Hunt and could play it in constructed. For one day after Throne of the Tides launched, Bioluminescent was giving +2 Spell Damage instead of +1. Considering Bio had to be nerfed to 4 mana later, you can imagine how broken a doubled version was. For some wild reason, if you played Madam Goya with Brann on board on a Weasel Tunneler that was shuffled into your deck by your opponent, the minion that Goya pulled would becone the top card of your deck for the rest of the game. Even if it was on the board or dead, it would bounce back to your hand when you drew for turn. Even crazier, if that card was Chameleos and he turned into a Hero Card, you could play it and draw your own hero next turn, making your opponent unable to attack you.
The 6/6 for 0 mana is pretty easy to figure out how it worked. Originally choose one cards all cost 0 when you choose between them, and they only got manacosts when the split cards came out. Somehow the codde got messed up, and the split card gave the 0 cost variants.
There was a bug where if you gave a minion envoy rustwix’s deathrattle it would pull from that minion’s discover pool instead of rustwix’s. Meaning you could shuffle hero powers into your deck with finley
My favorite bug is the recent alexstraza one that sets your opponent’s health to 0 if you played 3 azerite snakes. It wasn’t even the best deck so people didn’t complain as much, and it countered highlander warrior. Wish they buffed azerite snakes steal by 1 so that you can win with 4 snakes instead of 5 currently.
6:15 The way the bug happened was really simple. Back before Jerry Rig Carpenter was a thing, choose one cards were just visual, not being able to be generated, thus they just costed 0 mana. Some Blizzard employee forgot about changing mana cost of the one choose one card in the API. Simple number mistake
i just want to say that in battlegrounds the whole jiggle thing is probably more notable since in there whenever you're making a card you can hover over an empty spot and they will just appear allowing you to play them.
I remember that one time when Toast got banned from HS for the game winning bug. I don't remember what exactly it was, but it had something to do with copying a minion with a certain buff that would crash a game, which for some reason gives you a win
Shudderwock can also discover out-of-class cards! If you put Griftah in your deck (Yeti with Battlecry: Discover two cards. Give one to your opponent randomly) and Shudder repeats it, he will occasionally discover cards from classes outside of both you and your opponent's
The jiggle is is the hearthstone version of players figuring out air strafing and bunny hopping for the first time. A non intuitive way of making the game better that takes creativity to figure out.
A particular type of cheat that comes and goes with relevance is altering game files to remove or shorten animations. This is most prominent with Ignite Mage as players discovered that the main thing holding the deck back was unironically animation time, because Ignite has a long animation. So players started editing the animation files for many cards in the deck, increasing the theoretical ceiling of the deck quite significantly.
There was the “chicken out” bug at some point. Basically, during matchmaking, you were stuck on an infinite loading screen, as if your game froze. But if you did not exit the game and your opponent did, you would get the win. Happened to me quite a few times in arena and got free wins out of it.
There should also be a combo deck with mecha-leaper, sinstone graveyard, necrium blade and shadestone skulker that skips your opponents turn, but I don't know if it still does.
The jiggle was definitely a thing during Snip-Snap Warlock era. I remember reading about it on one of the first days this deck became meta. The only downside to jiggle was and still is that you may accidentally play the wrong card and destroy your board with Plague of Flames, for example. That's why when I was doing the jiggle, I made sure to spend all my mana, so I could harass my cards without any consequences. I'd be hearing "I don't have enough mana" a lot during the combo turn :)
I've been told clicking and jiggling a card is best as long as you dont accidentally play the card, but i would probably just swipe mouse over cards personally as its satisfying and theres rarely decks that actually require jiggling to get a competitive benefit
I think the jiggle is seen more as advanced tech than a criminalized game breaker bug. Kinda like wave dashing in smash bros melee and FADCs in street fighter 4
I know another C'thun stats bug (not a bug actually if you remember Stormwind Champion interactions). Before his rework in Caverns of Time miniset, he doubled his stats when copied in hand. That's how i got 60%+ winrate C'thun Quest Demon Hunter in Wild (by copying left/right-most cards in hand while also controlling Brann). AFAIK, this interaction was later chaned so C'thun's cult updates C'thun's prototype instead of buffing card's stats.
As someone who was playing Duels at the time and knew how these hacks worked - they couldn’t guarantee them going first. As for the 0 mana 6/6 - when the chose one cards were originally made, their “parts” were all 0 mana (even displayed as such when “choosing”), but later they printed Stalladris, so they changed most of them to respective manacost, but forgot some. Great video otherwise
Oh and those Duels hackers? They returned in the newest Twist season, the one with custom heroes. Almost like they reused the code from the recently removed Duels or something...
no love for Unearthed Raptor? i remember that 2 days of ladder being completely unplayable. for those who werent there for it, if you copied a deathrattle with unearthed raptor and then used a 2nd unearthed raptor on the first one, it would completely crash your opponent's client and lock them out of the game. was a 3 card combo that instantly won the game.
Yea that's not as exciting (or as hackery), anyone can do that just by modifying there game files. They nerfed sorc partially to deal with that we believe (Dont do this)
The skipping opponents turns still exists I literally lost a duels game in 2024 just because he waited until the rope was almost done played a xyrella and I would have won if I could have just played the turn out
What's really funny is that to make up for the awful, unnecessary nerf to Sorcerer's Apprentice they're going have to buff Open the Waygate. I'm going to enjoy the wailing from those who have a petty hatred for Time Warp. ROFL!
You mentioned time warp, so im obligated to say: why didnt they make it a location when they implemented locations? Solves basically *every* problem with the card, and allows them to unnerf big spell support cards
@@JordanMG yeah, I figured as much myself. It just seems like such an elegant solution though, or at least did when locations first came out. I think they're printing cards that replay locations, or something, so as always they're getting too ambitious for their own good, and removing efficient design space in favor of infinite value generation, leaving the door open for shenanigans
because the bugs shown didn't impact anything, they're just visually appealing (assuming you're talking about the TN I think you're talking about, they let us test 3 different ones now) with that said, it is not my intention to clickbait beyond what is reasonable, sorry if it felt that way, i will avoid it in the future with more prep
You shouldn't deckshame sure, but shaming someone who is abusing an obvious exploit is not the same as deck shaming And he worked for blizzard? That's crazy Also the 0 mana 6-6 should've left anyone who abused that exploit on ladder to be banned.

That Darius bug sounds hilarious. The last ones convoluted enough youd never encounter it unless you wanted to 😂 theres a lot like that

I think the title "5 bugs that BROKE hearthstone" would pop, great vid idea. maybe like the 128/128 cthun in the thumbnail too cause its that insane
🤔 I like the title, not sure how to convey the 128 in a way that differentiates it from just making a big Cthun
@@JordanMGjust have it flying into someone’s face
It worked
@@JordanMGWell the title made me click, this guy had an excellent idea 😂

Perfect type of bug. Temporary and not too broken 😅
My favourite bug is Snapdragon being able to give permanent Attack to heroes in your deck.
Ooh that is a good one

Different times 😅 nowadays they're off that high horse and dont treat people poorly for playing the game as it is 😂
Wasnt the reason he was banned because he showed on stream how to do it?
You know what my favourite bugs are? Webspinner and Glowfly
🔥

I remember the test subject combos that could lead to skipping turns.
Oh yea that's a fun story
The jiggle highlights the issue hearthstone have had since it's inception; no good way of skipping animations
The jiggle is is the hearthstone version of players figuring out air strafing and bunny hopping for the first time. A non intuitive way of making the game better that takes creativity to figure out.
So real, and that's why it's the best

in arena no less 💀
There was a bug years ago with Power Word: Glory and Mirage Caller. It would crash the server and cause an auto-win for the player with the combo.
Lol 💀
Hacker ones feel like a fever dream
it really does

Good ole accidental plague of flames
whats the best way to do this? just swiping across the hand fast over and over again while waiting, spam clicking on a card, something else?
I've been told clicking and jiggling a card is best as long as you dont accidentally play the card, but i would probably just swipe mouse over cards personally as its satisfying and theres rarely decks that actually require jiggling to get a competitive benefit
@@neonoir__ Both work IIRC. You do have to touch the card, merely hovering the mouse cursor over it is not enough.
Man, Hysteria and Hippy Guppy were so great to watch back in the day...
I think the jiggle is seen more as advanced tech than a criminalized game breaker bug. Kinda like wave dashing in smash bros melee and FADCs in street fighter 4
Certainly, although none of these were criminalized in anyway 😂
I remember the turn skipping was also a thing with some of the ignite decks back in the day
The biggest problem with ignite decks was animation cheating to win in 1 turn but I believe it 💀

Im amazed noone mentioned Dawngrasp heropower literally freezing/crashing your opponents game EVERY SINGLE TIME it was used.
i fell like modern devs fix just those bugs that players currently talk about or report if its worth to fix it
make this a „top 10“ series !!
