You certainly pushed your lathe to its limits for this one.

I'm 63 and I want to be HALF as talented as you Mr. Gomis! Hell, I'd settle for 1/8th as talented. I don't know where you draw your inspiration from, but the next time you're feeling a little out of it, remember there is a 63 year American named Mike that loves watching EVERYTHING you create. I am in awe of your talent Mr. Gomis! Peace!

It would be cool to have a video of him talking through the design process -from idea, to whatever drawing/drafting/CAD work he does, how much math is involved, choosing the wood, logistics of his tools and space. He seems like a meticulous planner, but I'm sure there are moments when he's like the rest of us just problem solving when your project throws an unexpected curve ball at you.

You know you’re pushing the lathe to it’s limit when you have to manually spin the piece before starting the motor.

This is a 6000 Euro lathe. It's made to handle this kind of work.

I think he’s correct that the lathe does need a “kick start” of turning it by hand so the motor starts with the lathe already turning

One of the things I really enjoy about your videos is trying to guess the end result during the process. I didn't see this one coming til you started the base. A great idea to make one from wood rather than wicker. It looks stunning.
That lathe is a monster, by the way.

Even if I sound like Kermit the frog: Applause, Applause, Applause!
I'm following your videos for quite some years now and I often thought by myself "He's making craftsmanship into a
form of art her own" - especially seeing some of your platters and vases 'turn to life' - e.g. bending space time and the pos/neg vases -
but this chair... how the heck is the way you're able think all of your art pieces? You see them before you turn them I'm sure about that. I can feel it somehow. Wow!
