@ Lakrfan Our American English has roots in many languages and often translated differently. It is rather arrogant to make this comment rather than simply appreciating and complimenting the talent of the artist.
@@josephmcvicker7280 You seem to be the arrogant one. If English is presented then it should be offered in the correct manner. I have nothing but high regard for the talent of the fine craftsman.
This is a woodworking channel, not a language teaching lesson. Please don't be blunt and appreciate the effort to make it understandable for as many viewers as possible. This man did a better job than most of us would do and deserves compliments instead of corrections. Excuse me for my not perfect English, I am not a native speaker, trying to communicate with you in a language that I do not perfectly read, write or speak, but probably better than you would understand my native language.
This is a great wood project book th-cam.com/users/postUgkxkPIWb22DigCqxmlXerCyUF4HCl6eSU2L . Most of the projects use the pallet simply as a source of reclaimed wood not as a recognizable pallet so even if you didn't have a pallet you could make these projects with any reclaimed (or even new) wood. The instructions are excellent. The style is charming and would work with lots of different decor. There are quite a number of projects that involve tiling of teh wood pieces which is a really cool idea and can produce beautiful pieces when working with aged wood.
I have to say Oliver, a man as young as yourself, you show skills matching people with decades at the craft. And as much as I love the sounds of the lathe work, this was just as amazing. The beauty is in it's simplicity. No fancy edges. Letting the woods grain be the star. These longer videos with explanation text is a great touch also. Thank you for sharing another amazing work.
What an absolutely gorgeous piece, especially seeing the state of the original slabs. The skills of some people just absolutely blow my mind sometimes.
It really brings to light the amount of effort that goes into creating a fine piece of furniture. After doing this you learn a whole new appreciation for all the finely crafted things that are often overlooked in this fast paced world we live in.
If one buys an Ikea table that even remotely looks similar, you just buy it and don't really see it as piece you may want to keep for upcoming years. Now if you buy the piece we just saw, you imagine it for a few decades in your possession. It's a whole other ballgame. There is soul going into this piece.
Belle touche.
Genius and talent in such a young person. One of the best arguments ever supporting "college is not for everyone." This young man could TEACH classes in woodworking to people with decades of academic attendance. And, he's probably much happier than many of them.
It’s a beautiful desk! It was nice to see you step away from the lathe and show us what else you can do. Glad you remained calm and weren’t too fancy 😉
Hi Oliver, another masterpiece you truly are the very best of the best master carpenters on you tube. I love your work ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
M. Gomis, you are an artist in wood, whether turning or woodworking. That was utterly fascinating to watch (especially the dove-tails). The ripple of the graining across the drawer fronts is beautiful and you have, indeed, created a treasure out of trash. You are a young man with a glorious future as a master craftsman. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
What a beautiful job. I would pay a lot of money just to have a desk made by you and half the size. It is the best piece of work I have seen in a long time. Well done.
Really enjoyed this video. I'm so used to watching turn on the lathe. Your talent just shines like crazy! I never miss a video, although I normally watch on TV so no comment, but this one caught me before TV time. Thank you for sharing. I'm Keith in Hickory, North Carolina, USA.
a thing of beauty is a joy forever... I was glad you were turning this wood into something (the tree didn't ask to be made into wack ass boards), but i wasn't expecting you to have surgical accurate wood fittings, mitering, dovetails, everything... that dry fit was so satisfying to behold??? I clicked on the video for the wood, stayed for the way you really transformed it. if I owned this desk I'd never shut up about it, like, ever. You make me miss doing amateur carpentry (even if my capabilities are nowhere near your level)
One more of masterpieces in understatement... pure, without modification with epoxy or stainless steel... "only" wood... in absolutly perfect craftmanship!!! It's an honour to watch this videos... thanks for sharing!!! Chapeau 🎩
Watching this video brought back many happy memories of my late father. He was a cabinet maker and made much of the furniture in our house. He would have loved to watch such an amazing craftsman at work.
What a fabulous table. Your talent is exceptional for such a young man. It is certainly evident that the wood speaks to you and you see the hidden beauty. Looking forward to your next video. Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend. 😊🇨🇦
This came out beautifully, but you were freaking me out while trying to saw the ends off! You should clamp them down so they don’t move while you are cutting them!!! 😱 ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It's worth leaving on the original French subtitles; however: "Comme papa dans maman!" What kind of expression is that? 😃 Other than that, it's beautiful. No epoxy (thank you!) and beautiful patterns. What I also like is the subtle (and sometimes outright quirky) humour you use. "Look, I can use a hand saw to make dovetails, but in reality, this is how we do it." Plus the attention to safe work practices, etc. Expressing things without saying them. I've been following you for a couple of years now, and it's just a joy every time.
Encore un super ouvrage de ta part qui tranche avec le tournage et personnellement, ça ne fait que renforcer le fait d'apprécier ton travail dans ça globalité 💯🤌👍👍👍 Top 🤟
Absolutely gorgeous work! I'm so jealous of the recipient. I was amazed at the quality of workmanship and thought for the tables longevity. That's a piece made to stand the test of time. Imagine one day 60-80 years from now, that table still being used and loved. Well done sir.
A beautiful desk. You made great use of the wood. My grandfather was an old school carpenter and furniture maker. If you were his apprentice he would have been very proud of you. This is a "master piece". A piece of furniture that makes you a master furniture maker.
Shortly into the video I realized I was watching an absolute Master operating at the highest level of craftsmanship. You sir, are my new role model and example of what can be done with patience and careful attention to detail. And the video quality is of similar quality. Who needs all the needless talking when the hands are talking.
When one looks at the quality AND cost of your equipment and tools, it irritates me when some thoughtless person refers to woodworking as a Hobby. Your work is professional !!
A hobby is nothing to sneeze at. Professional just means you make money doing it. Hobbyists are often much much better than professionals. Hobbyists do it for the love of it, pros do it for money.
I work wood because I love it. I love it most when I'm NOT doing it for a buck. If there's a customer involved, there's stress involved. You want your client to be happy, but you have to draw a line to make it profitable. If I'm making something for my soul, I can take all the time I want to make it the way I want it to be.
What a nice change to see a different kind of project! (Not that your turning isn't amazing.) A gorgeous result from some difficult wood. I don't know how you learned all your skills, but I hope someday you pass them on to your children, nieces and nephews, the neighbor's kids, interested strangers...whoever! Your gifts deserve to be shared and thank you for sharing them with us!
Absolutely amazing! :O This is very different from your usual stuff, but it just shows how talented you really are with wood, you can make virtually anything! :O
thank you so much for not ruining this wonderful wood by the use of epoxy. I hate this trend of "burrying" wood in liters of fluid plastic. your table is a beautiful & timeless work, built with great craftmanship. 👍
Olivier: **uses power tools and bits I never knew existed** Also Olivier: **calls youtubers with standard hand tools "fancy"** That desk is GORGEOUS and I want it! I especially love how it's mostly put together without fasteners, which adds to its appeal to me. I have no place to put it, but I'd make room somewhere. Now to scrounge up some cash... I hope you kept all the scrap and sawdust for this project separate and smoked yourself a real nice brisket with it :)
I love it. A simply beautiful, beautifully simple table. No gold veins running through it, no LED infinity illusion, no acrylic rivers and landscapes. Just simple functionality. ❤
Thank you for showing use how professional use the basic tools we all have at home.. like the traforo saw (i didn't expect to see it in use in a real shop) and the explanation that sometimes using hands and not fancy jig will speed up the process... thank you from italy
What you call "feet" should be correctly termed "legs". Desk legs.
On the other hand "pedanterie" and "pedantry" have similar spellings in French and English

Is this just the wood we saw at the begging? Or did you need some extra wood?
Thank God someone on TH-cam can make something out of wood without 10 gallons of epoxy.
Is it really "wood work" if you're not adding 10 gallons of epoxy? Next you'll be saying that epoxy with glitter in it isn't natural. :D
And its black epoxy ....
I agree Allen, once they bust out the epoxy, I try to find a simpler project, one that I can afford( epoxy is too costly!
Rt?!!
You’re almost as bitter as I am
Definitely sold me on that ‘no epoxy’ to watch this video and I’m glad that I did.
Even the wood grain pattern on the inside bottom of the drawers matched... that's attention to detail. Beautiful work.
I noticed that too!
That was cut from one piece of wood ... ;-)
Hands of gold. With appreciation from South Africa. We love you.
Possibly the best TH-cam Video Ever! Beautiful! It's easy to follow this Master Craftmaster. And his tools! Perfection!
I hope everyone can appreciate the money you are re-investing into the channel, purchasing all those nice tools. They are not cheap stuff 💰💰
Beautiful piece, the flow of the grain throughout is just gorgeous!

I LOVE that shaper, built right into the sliding table saw attachment. Watching that bit was magical =)
The beauty of the wood was highlighted. The 'flow' is even reflected in the bottom of the drawers! Stunning skill for your age.
