Excellent video!! I love how you explain all the things in a clear and straightforward manner, plus show every step from prep to actual fire. Thank you!
Andrew. I dont need to see your face. Especially with all the AI crap, facial recognition doesn't impress me. You know how I know I'm getting the "real deal"? Nobody else delivers this level of knowledge, the respect towards me as well as his other people, and the respect he carries with his use of certain brands because Andrew doesn't cut corners, mince words or sugar coat anything.
Hello, Claire, great reply! If I were Andrew, I would wear the beard AND the sunglasses. especially for their value in negative recognition. Not possibly more existential for him than most of us?
Always good to have multiple ways to start a fire. I've never thought about starting one like this before. Thanks for the knowledge. Almost wondered who the stranger was with your voice. Just used to seeing you "talk" with your hands and arms LOL.
I find all of your content, it's provided lessons on effective fire starting as well other survival tips and techniques that I hope we don't actually need one day. Great stuff Andrew.
I've seen this before years ago and completely forgot about it..!! Thanks for doing such a great demonstration on it..!! And prepping the fire lay ahead of time is crucial no matter what technique your using.. this was a great video, thank you Andrew..!!
I was really surprised to see limbs for a fire simply broken to length for use. I was taught that many years ago in the real scouts and did it many a time since, but I had the impression that batoning was the only legal way now 😂 Thanks for the video. Make a few trapping videos if you take a notion to
Great content with respect to your sunglasses I just see it as a way of protecting your eyes when you're in the Bush especially with limbs twigs and sticks coming back in your face😎 Keep up the great work🏕
I don't care if you wear glasses, I work outside and drive a lot and need to protect my eyes so polarized sunglasses are my thing. I do very much enjoy your live presentations over the voice-over style, so thanks for that! Hope you had a Merry Christmas and here's wishing you a Happy New Year too!
Sunglasses/ eye protection makes sense for any outdoorsman- and those following you already know how legit your skills and teaching style are more then note worth- always appreciate the video and information where I feel like I can at least attempt what you are instructing- with or without sunglasses 😎
Look at them beautiful eyes! 😂 That’s some solid fire preparation right there. Making a fire is a lot like painting a wall. It’s all in the prep. Happy new years, Andrew!
I've been watching you Andrew on and off for nearly 2 years and I'm so glad that your channel has grown😊 you definitely deserve it as you are amazing at all of this and you always explain it in a good layterm😊
Excellent, informative video! I'd hope to never need to start a fire this way, but it's another tool in the toolbox for a just-in-case scenario. Thanks for sharing.
Hello from Oklahoma! Great Video as usual!! The old river rat here. A little tip from one trapper to another, I Always carry at least 2 plastic bags in my pockets. When You need to kneel down, Place the plastic bag under your knee. It keeps you dry and clean. Same deal if you are going to sit on a wet or snow covered log. Put the plastic bags down first, you stay clean and dry. When I'm trapping canines and cats, I have a designated scent free 3x3 rubberized ground cloth for the same. In a pinch one time, I used the plastic bags to tie up my Roycroft pack frame. Thanks for all You Do! God Bless! Happy New Year!!!
Drew, another amazing video! There's more excitement and adventure in one of your videos than my entire year as a bounty hunter throughout the galaxy....
That‘s a method we learned during Ranger Survival Course in the German Army (Einzelkämpfer Lehrgang) very useful in case you carry ammo with you 👍🏻🔥 thx for instructing! 🙏🏻🙋🏻♂️
Hey I would like to say thank you for you taking your time to showing us things!I've been watching you for awhile and I've learned lots of stuff thank you!
Excellent video! I’ve heard of using gunpowder to start a fire; but never with your technique. Thank you for going into so much detail and for demonstrating every step of the process!! I’ll definitely keep this in mind…. Beautiful face!! 😂
Cool party trick Andrew!! I was certified in Prescribed burn R3 in Texas a few years back. This is one we saw in class excellent teaching there too. Thanks. You also have me looking at 1/8" snare wire traps as potential reliable wire saws for my layer 1 survival kit items too it ate that cottonwood fast.
Sir, T Y again for leading the way as usual in Power Point Presentation! We are also most grateful that you have survived deployments so far. I am thinking again about when riding in the back seat of a Super Cub in Alaska what to wear as suitably as possible on the person in case of getting separated from the aircraft in a dead-stick landing, too possibly on ice, and all the other cargo getting lost. A Mae West preserver, a hand cannon, ammo, and a hatchet (plus sharpener) take precedence for me, followed closely by a sturdy commando saw or folding bow saw, plus a sharp knife. The hatchet is so important for getting a hot fire going quickly in the Northern wet and cold, plus as a shelter-building tool. Candle stubs and food bars are also primary assets. Pease keep ten yards, and Happy New Year!
We used to use the sharp edge of our knife to lever out the projectile, and the spine of the knife to open our beers...we still use the spine side for our beers. (Late edit... You can use an egg slice/flipper to open a king brown (bottle of beer). Hold the bottle on the side at the base, smack it's base firmly with the flat of the egg slice, slide the slice flat up the side of the bottle with the top of the slice out a little so the grooves of the egg slice catch the bottles cap... BINGO! The pressure in the bottle from the smack make it work. If you spill any, you're not an Auzzi!) P.S. The real people are good with you looking after your eyes. Universal Sovereign Citizen
Andrew should have more followers. His videos are always really informative and straight to the point. Perfectly done. I frequently rewatch his videos too. I can’t think of any other channel I do that with regularly.
I have a semi-non-related question: I'm an old Corps Marine from Vietnam, and our food was the "C" Ration, left over from the Korean war. As with all military food, some was better than others. My question concerns how we used the peanut butter and chocolate from the meals. If you were constipated, you ate the chocolate. If you had the "runs", you ate the peanut butter. Is there a similar equivalent in the MREs that are being issued these days? Just curious.
A similar fire starter would be a fire thong, which uses a length of cotton clothesline instead of wire. The clothesline is drawn across the fire board in the same manner which causes the cotton to heat up and produce an ember.
I notice you said multiple times “galvanized steel wire” would stainless be acceptable as well? I don’t see why it wouldn’t as it seems to be more about the friction and not a chemical reaction.. unless I’m wrong about that. Just curious. Great video as always!!!
One thing I appreciate here over other “survival” fire videos is it shows the entire fire building process, not just creating a flame.
Yes! He shows from start to finish. Other youtubers they just talk and talk
You continue to deliver outstanding content week after week. Well done!👍👍
Another great video Andrew. Your instruction technique is flawless, very easy to understand and complete step by step demonstration.👍
Major Andrew another excellent fire starting technique 👍🇺🇸
Excellent video!! I love how you explain all the things in a clear and straightforward manner, plus show every step from prep to actual fire. Thank you!
I bought that hatchet because a a vid you did recently. I love it. Thanks.
It's these techniques that I love about your channel! Thank you for continuing to lead the way. 🇺🇲⚔️
I saw that exact wire method a dozen years ago by an instructor at camp Mackall with a wire hanger.

OMG! Fabulous fire starter. And, to see your beautiful face was just too much! Well done, sir!
Glad to see gunpowder doesn't go with a flash, that was a nice long burn, I've tried magnesium powder and ferro rod, hot but fast.
Always something to learn from you Andrew....great to see YOU as well!!!!
Going to test this out in the backyard. Thanks Andrew!
Wizard of the woods. Thanks for this video, Happy New Year to you and Your's.
Useful tutorial. Cheers😀❤
Blacksmiths used to start fires by working cold metal until it got hot on their anvils, similar idea.
You can't put the anvil outdoor.😂
@isabell-f7j might make the hike a bit tougher 🤣👍
@ddoherty5956 it might weigh your pack down a bit.
@@Bman-xy2vh Yeah I'd probably take beer instead 🤣🤣🤣
Kool outside the box technique Col. Wear your shades, 😎
Great video. Thanks for sharing Sir!

I've always thought Andrew would be good as an evil villain in movies.
You've got a beautiful face bro ✊ great video again my guy!
Well thought I had seen all of these…but this one was new, great ! 👍🇺🇸

GOOD JOB!! 👍💯👍💯👍💯👍💯👍💯👍! I was wondering if you could demonstrate lighting the fire by you using the rifle PRIMER instead of the wire. Thank you
Great things learned here today,Many Thanks Andrew,Happy New Year!
Excellent job! Never knew powder ignited at that low of a temperature. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent tip as always, Happy New Year to you and your family.

Bark works well for a wind break if your starting a fire if it’s a little windier.
A similar fire starter would be a fire thong, which uses a length of cotton clothesline instead of wire. The clothesline is drawn across the fire board in the same manner which causes the cotton to heat up and produce an ember.
We watch these videos as a couple. Great must-know tips. Thanks again!
Hey Andrew, great vid!! I always feel like I'm back in a military training session.
Excellent info thank you
Great video. I learned something new today.
Light up Andrew. Always love the shades !
Good demonstration Andrew, thanks for sharing, YAH bless !

Cool it would probably work on some char cloth as well!
