    Hi Will, just wanted to add on piece about getting on prem data. The copy activity does work but only for SQL Server. If data is in another database like Oracle you’re still limited to Gen2 dataflows

    • @LearnMicrosoftFabric

      Thanks for the clarification @scottpowell, i remember that one of the limitation of Data Pipelines was its inability to connect to on premise DB, that caused a bit of confusion with what Will has mentioned in his video. Just to double check, so the copy activity works for on premise SQL Server but not for other servers, right?

      @@moeeljawad5361 yep that’s right. Works on prem for SQL server but nothing else yet. Hopefully they add others soon.

    Brilliant. Thanks Will. Your channel is by far the best when it comes to learning the concepts of Fabric. How you distil subjects down into manageable learning chunks is so impressive.

    Why are you restricting the On-premise Data gateway to on - premise SQL servers? In power bi we have used on-premise data gateway with other kinds of servers (Oracle, SAP BW, .....)

    • @LearnMicrosoftFabric

      Hi Moe, just FYI, I don't work for Microsoft, so I'm not restricting anything! The Data Pipeline OPDG connection is in preview currently, I'm sure the will add more functionality in the future 👍

    In one of your other video you said that "Cannot connect to on premise gateways using Data Pipelines" at th-cam.com/video/t5mUKaLWpHE/w-d-xo.html (time Stamp : 16:10)
    BUT In this video at 8:36 you connected with both Data Pipeline and Dataflow. Can you please clarify ?

    • @LearnMicrosoftFabric
      @LearnMicrosoftFabric  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes this feature became available after the first video, and before the second video. Read more here: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-factory/how-to-access-on-premises-data#using-on-premises-data-in-a-pipeline-preview
      BUT be careful because the exam questions were written many months ago, and I don't think they have been updated yet. So it's likely if you receive a question about on-premise data, the answer will include a Dataflow, rather than a Data Pipeline 👍

    • @LearnMicrosoftFabric

      Thanks! Funnily enough we discussed this this week in the Skool community!
      There is a big demand for analytics engineering skill sets generally (at least where I am in the UK).
      There aren’t any Fabric-specific jobs yet in my country, think companies are still figuring it out, but I’m sure they will come 👍
      Many of the skills you learn for this exam are transferable to generic analytics engineering roles (git/ version control, sql, python, data modelling)
