As a 2017 Camaro 2SS owner, I noticed a lot of the same positives that you pointed out are also found on the 6th gen Camaro. Have really enjoyed my Watkins Glen Gray C7 Grand Sport Z07/7speed manual coupe since I bought it new in 2017. Not even a little bit interested in the C8 - although kudos to the Chevy engineers in developing the tech for the mid engine car. Always fun to watch videos of C7R's thundering down European racetracks - never get tired of that pushrod V8 song! To have one lurking in the garage is just flat out fun. me and my brother had both, the c8 is way better performance wise i do still think the c7 is better if you want a manual or just prefer to have the scariness of front engine 😂
The C7 has always been one of my least favorite corvette generations but now you’ve convinced me to give it a shot. A couple thoughts 1) completely agree with your thoughts on DoD. My GP GXP had DoD and I had to have it turned off as soon as possible, car drove so much better without it and I didn’t notice any change in fuel economy. 2) I feel like the C7 is the first time the automatic corvette wasn’t a compromise (in terms of performance) compared to the manual. Previous autos were for people who wanted a corvette but couldn’t drive manuals and old guys with bad knees. I’m surprised you actually like/recommend it.
Great review! The C7 Grand Sport has been my “it” car since they came out. Pre-pandemic, the used prices were trending in a good direction. But that tide has certainly receded. I’ll keep working towards it. One day…

We picked up our '19 GS Vert with 5 miles on the odo as we wanted the last year of front engine car. The difference between the GS, and our '16 Stingray is amazing. The dang car is faster than I can think these days. 😀 BTW, I plugged a Range Technology V4 disabler into the OBD before I left the dealers lot. The engine in these cars are not happy running on 4 cylinders, and no one can tell me that disabling 4 cylinders if good for the engine.
Great review. I own a 2018 CTS V and have been considering buying one of these last front engine corvettes and this helped out a lot and ill also need that targa top. Grand Sport it will be.The tid bit at the end to keep it 8 cylinders all the time sold me

That took some work and planning. Lots of information about the car, just a bit about you. Good balance. Thanks for such a professional review.
I purchased my '17 GS from a private seller for $50k. Had 9k miles on it. I replaced the front splitter and the middle piece underneath. Seller said wife torn it up parking. I can see how that's an issue. That front sticks out farther than you think. I lowered it, and that makes it even more prone to damage. Really have to pay attention. The car is awesome. Drives great and is fun. My average fuel use is around 21mpg and it shows my best at 34mpg! That was on a road trip. I have since plugged in the 4 cylinder bypass. The balance for the C7 is 50/50, whereas for the C8, it's 40/60 (front/rear) empty. GM says it changes by adding a driver and passenger (duh). I, personally, don't like the looks of the C8 so, I won't be trading in my C7 for one. It's the BEST Corvette I've ever owned. I absolutely love it.
Front mid engined. Engine sits between the front and rear axles, making it a mid engined car, specifically front mi-engine. Front engine car the motor sits on the front axle. C8 is rear mid-engine.

‘cylinder on demand’ as long as it brings reliability issues, costs resources to implement and brings marginal fuel economy it is likely it is not more environmentally friendly, but it was probably a trick to pass emissions that can’t be proven it actually produces more emissions on long term. Lately many companies have implemented similar strategies that don’t seem to work so well on long term.

I think the 2014 to 2019 were the best looking vettes.and unfortunately chevy ruined a great American sports car after 2019.and btw this is a great video
Nice car Had a 2019 Grand Sport and after 3,300 miles and three cracked wheels I dumped it. Know issue with the Grand Sports and Zo6's and lawsuits filed. Yet no mention of this issue from you...
I'm not sure what factory ringer you've got.. But, "rock solid build quality" is non-sense. My son's 15' ZO6 even after the TSB for the roof squeak. Still squeaks something terrible. His center console armrest leather has separated and looks like a wrinkled forehead. My 19' GS's driver door panel was replaced because the armrest leather separated looked like wrinkled bicep fat. Also, my passenger side rear quarter window trim separated from the outer panel. My brake switch's chrome delaminated and was replaced. Note, Both of our vehicles have very low miles, are 7 spd manuals, garage kept, 3 bucket hand washed and well maintained. Last, the issue with GS and ZO6 wheels cracking and warping, GM denied it was an issue. I hate these videos! Not addressing GM's build quality issues is why they continue.
In terms of body style, the C7 looks so much cleaner than the C8 which looks like it was a high school project for design that should have been aborted!!!
Too many factory dependent / ultimately unsustainable electronics, gadgets and crap. I appreciate the car is mechanically impressive, but could do without the embedded “features”, that I feel detract from the experience of driving.
Imma say it, the new Corvette should have been called the Stingray and NOT the Corvette. The C7 was the last true Corvette, and the thing that exists now is just a poor mans Ford GT ripoff.
not sure that would’ve been a good idea from a marketing standpoint… EVERYONE in the U.S. knows what a Corvette is, even people who don’t care about cars. It’s one of if not the most known car model. But I agree with ya the lineage diverged too hard, the C8 is truly a completely new/different car. Want to remind you of something however, google “Corvette rear mid engine prototype”… GM has been wanting this for the Vette for a VERY long time

This car was awesome! What did you like about it? Get your beautifully fitting SealSkin Cover here! sealskincovers.com/pages/car-covers
bought one of these covers and what a mistake THAT was ! The ones on their website do not fit on the wide body style of the Grand Sport or Z06 ! It fits like crap on my GS
The early C3 vette will always be my favorite. The C7 will be second. I'm not an GM fan,,imo,,the two best looking vettes
Hey casey. Did you know you can make a corvette sound like a ferrari with 180 headers?
Yup! but this one is pretty good as is
@@CaseyPutsch cool! Just thought Id share
Looks like the leather is pulling away at the dash??
1st mid engine corvette was the C6 corvette.
The Autos do not shift very quickly. If youve ever driven a DCT car you know how slow shifting these really are. Everything else is spot on.
The Manual will only go into V4 mode in ECO mode, that I never use.
Great video, Nice color.
That's a nice Machine. Roll by the police station and rip some burnouts in the parking lot. I hear they love that. Love it Case keep up the good work Old Sport.
Cheers Old sport!
I am in uk and have a 2016 z51. If not on eco the engine does not shut down 4 cylinders so why the need of the dongle just don’t put it in eco.
Man what color is that!?
100% use nothing but the HUD in my C5 corvette when driving and rarely do i look at the actual gages
Not sure why so many reviewers keep saying this car had a/c seats, when it is only ambient air venting. I thought this is a car guy 🤷🏽♂️
They’re not AC seats they’re ventilated seats brah
I really like Casey, I dont mind the hat to cover baldness much, but when he said the car is automatic I was really worried. Then he said we can do without analog dials. I almost unsubscribed hahahh :) Just kidding ( kind of ) but Casey is our dude. If he wants automatic..... well. Yeah. Ok, this one time.
Are review of a classic awesome Corvette
I think the 2014 to 2019 were the best looking vettes.and unfortunately chevy ruined a great American sports car after 2019.and btw this is a great video
"don't forget to lose it"? Why would I want to lose my gas cap. whatcutalkinboutwillis?
Nice car Had a 2019 Grand Sport and after 3,300 miles and three cracked wheels I dumped it. Know issue with the Grand Sports and Zo6's and lawsuits filed. Yet no mention of this issue from you...
Awesome
Gran sport.. for people who want a z06 or zr1 but can't drive a stick.
Or cannot afford a ZR1 yet!
second i can pick one up for 50 grand sold
It's trash .. I have mine at the dealership for 3 months all ready.. and they just told me I need a new cam and lifters .. and I don't drive crazy
Displacement on demand BS, thanks leftist idiots making car companies install bandaides
10:35 party pooper :(
I'm not sure what factory ringer you've got..
Man I can hear a wheel bearing screaming to be replaced in the drive along lol
The C7 would be better if the C6 didnt exist. Manual ls3 base model is gonna boogey on a c7 gs
Confirmed. My base c6 stick, will beat my buddies c7 grand sport in stick. Must be due to weight and wider tires slowing it down.
Too many factory dependent / ultimately unsustainable electronics, gadgets and crap.
I appreciate the car is mechanically impressive, but could do without the embedded “features”, that I feel detract from the experience of driving.
Damn lmao
what?
@CaseyPutsch my bad lol. Was at loss for words , *damn* in good context lol.
