    Great lesson as always! After discovering Chopin and jazz some years ago, I finally realized I can use ANY note when soloing. It was like a new world opened up for me ... and now I get bored when music is too consonant.

      Yes we can use all notes when we improvise . Just think your melody liks desonant note is an owsome then resolve it in consonant notes jazz is freedom tune of music. There is no wrong notes . Ugly note there is. It depend in our ear.

    When you think about it, the idea of neighbouring notes was explored in Bach time . All ornementation in baroque was built using this principle and there was a lot of improvisation at that time using this musical device . Bach rules !!

    Ever heard of Ragas? They are basically cherry-picked notes from the 12 notes, over centuries depending on the mood/season/event etc. What is more, the notes can be different when going upscale, and different while going down.
    No, I am not Indian Classicaly trained, but would it not be great if we were.

  • @darylrhodes5129

    Truth is you are not using a chromatic scale at all but simple using approaches to chord tones. Again, "gotta be careful not to be misled. Also: Dorian and mixolydian are modes, not scales, and have an entirely different application than as described here. Be careful guys.

    • @Crunkboy415
      @Crunkboy415 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually all these modes are the one major scale, they just start on different notes.
