    Prefect! It's a must to predrill screw holes especially with MDF. The board will crack if you don't. You guys did an amazing job!

    Great Job.- For doing the corner holes I bought the metal brackets and put the leg brackets inside the cabinet first. Then used the bolt holes as a drill bit guide. Drilling from the inside of the cabinet outward toward the corner. Worked great.

      +Michael Mitchell Thats a good idea, was really tricky to drill the holes like that. Cheers Olsen

    I used to build pin cabinets. Just some info.,
    You can get real “lock down bars” for the front, backbox fold down hinges, and glass guides. Also, MDF crumbles easily. You should glue 1”x1” molding on the inside of the corners.

    Aren't worried the MDF won't like the beer as much as we do? Will the Williams legs accept the metric screws?
    Henning Wehn has been telling the world Germans do like a laugh but they only do it after the work is done: has he been lying all this time or you consider this activity more a form o leisure than work? Did you know pinball machines originated in Germany (afaik - icbw)?
    I really liked the real time video! I once saw a video about replacing SMD components - it was easy and so quick! It actually was hard and time consuming and I damaged the board ... 😮‍💨
    Awesome video! Thanks!

    Fantastic build! Thanks for sharing!
    I understand with Pinball FX3 you need to contact Steam for the code to change your viewing to a orginal looking playfield view.
    When using Future pinball and Virtual Pinball where do go to change the viewing for a realistic playfield view on the playfield monitor.
    Much appreciated! 🍻

    Nice cab guys, Deffo not overkill on the pre-drilled holes, MDF tends to split if you drive screws into the edge without holes predr
    illed.

    Nice video, nice job. Just wondering why not install the display a little lower to create some depth in the cabinet like at mechanical machines to get a more realistic analog look? Also for protection of the screen, with on top a glass plate. I remember some people lean over or put there glass or beer can on top of the cabinet (accidentally) and this can scratch/damage the screen when there is no protection at all. Besides, you can also use some mirrors/metal/chrome like at the analog versions of these machines for a nice 50 style finish.
    When you create some depth in the cabinet, there is some 'room' to create an optional 3D version of it, with 3D glasses. That would be awesome. Just some ideas.

    Its going to come apart! You can pull screws out of MDF by hand You did not glue ANY joints Its not going to last sorry to say You need to glue and screw mdf! its weak stuff and it swells and gets soft with moisture in the air! its basically Cardboard! Thats why you put a finish on MDF Paint or clear at least something!

I'll say one thing of all the builds I've watched everyone uses some pricey controller ....I just bought a broken xbox 360 controller for next to nothing and just soldered the buttons straight to the controller board and job done , I'm wondering am I missing out on anything though, is there any advantage to using a controller like the ipac 4 ?

  • @TheTerracide
    @TheTerracide 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I will enjoyed this video, but i have some doubts:Why did you use the Williams dimensions and why not make it a little shorter? Television screens are too short, and backbox too high for the monitor to make it look good. The speakerpanel is now too high, a normal dmd cutout would be 34,5cm by 9.5cm. And the panel it self would be 21cm high. Also you should never bolt the sides that way! You will never be able to apply artwork and not see the drill holes, even if you use filler and sand it forever! You should use wood from the inside and glue it and bolt it from the inside, that way there is no drillholes on the outside.

    • @mtsim
      @mtsim  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheTerracide Yeah this is just a fun project. I like the bolts. :)

    What no one ever does is tell you how to set up the software. Getting it all to play together seamlessly so that anyone can walk up and just play whatever table? ooo that was hard. Getting the right back glasses and playfield videos and music demos to attract players? yeah that was hard. Getting tables that wouldn't glitch out? not so hard, but you have to be very choosy. Building my cabinet was the Easy part. No build videos, but the only bonus is that it has a flip top playfield with pneumatic struts so I can get to the guts easier. But don't let any of these "build your pinball cabinet" videos fool you: It's the software that can defeat you. Building the cabinet is the easy and fun part. Software? I love it. I like tinkering with settings. But it can be frustrating. GOod luck!

      I'm in the planning stages for building my virtual pinball machine and I'm having a little problem as to the best way to go about accessing the front and back of the back box. I was going to use a piano hinge for access to the back to unscrew the TV, but I can't think of a logical way to access the front to remove the TV if need. I should note I want to have a glass in front of the TV, which is causing the access problems, any ideas?
