    I apologize for saying that this kit was for folks with no woodworking skills. When working with any kind of wood , you have to learn techniques in order to better yourself. This Kit DOES NOT require power tools to put it together even if i used a Nail gun and a drill. If you are going to get into Virtual Pinball and want to build a system, you WILL need to get out of your comfort zone, that is just a fact. I always try to post constructive comments and if you put your mind to it, You can do it i have faith in you.

    The quality of his kit is awesome. Way better wood quality than I can find locally.

    Thanks for the video. I have no woodworking experience. Putting together a kit will be my biggest hurdle. Building the pc, the electronics and software are the easy part. Wish me luck. Going for it. Thanks for all the tutorials.

      Good luck with it. Lots of places to get info and help. The virtual pinball chat has a lot of helpers

    This would be something I'd be interested in as I don't have a ton of tools to actually do the woodworking, even if I did have the skills lol.

    I see that Batocera has shoe horned in VPX, which is significant given that its linux. Im hoping this will eventuate to the building of a dedicated VP operating system. Imagine an OS that was fully setup with all supports files and structures in place. Id like to see you do a video review on this recent Batocera addition and hear your thoughts.

      This is an excellent suggestion . I will put some thoughts into this.

    Great video and product. How does the playfield and plexiglass mount with the kit?

    • @MajorFrenchy
      @MajorFrenchy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The playfield will mount with a lift tray . You can see an example i built on my website in the cabinet building section. As for the plexiglass, i talk about it in the video, it just goes in the backbox pre cut groove

    What its missing is a support for the playfield that allows you to tilt it up to do work under it. I would expect that from a pre-made kit

      What you are describing is a must IMHO and i designed one in my previous wide body build. You can see the results www.majorfrenchy.com/mfcab . Also the more things you add to the kit, the more expensive it gets. At some point, the seller has to balance features vs costs vs how much folks are ready to pay. But thank you for your comment. It is an important feature i agree.

      Unfortunately this is not something that can be offered universally. All monitors are different along with everyone has their own opinion on how they want to mount there playfield. Playfield monitor mounting solutions are available for an additional fee.

    Well my flat pack just arrived from pinballcabinet, going to be following this video pretty closely. Wish me luck! Any other tips since the making of this video for assembling the cabinet? more/less nails, screws, support pieces recommended? How did you measure/decide where to mount the playfield monitor?

    • @MajorFrenchy
      @MajorFrenchy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Taking your time, using a lot of wood glue and strapping it well while drying are probably the most important things to keep in mind. Try to dry fit so you know how to mount it and when you are ready to glue, you will already be familiar with what goes where. As for the Playfield, it will depend how big your screen is, whether or not you want to leave room at the back for a DOT Matrix or 5 LED Bar, I would say start with building the Hinges Playfield panel and set your TV on it to get a good idea where you want it. For me, I want the bottom of the screen as close to the coin door as possible. Good Luck!

    Thanks for the video--question, how long a ratchet strap did you use?

    • @MajorFrenchy
      @MajorFrenchy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it was a 15 feet strap but you can always use 2 and use the hook to extend them.

    This is awesome! I imagine you can't (or it would be prohibitively expensive) ship to Australia though?

      Lance said he ships worldwide, but yeah, it would be extremely expensive.

    And you said this is for someone with no skills to do wood-working {proceeds to use nail gun, drill, countersink, etc.). Nice video though.

    • @shivorath
      @shivorath 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, if the point is that you don't need many tools I feel he should have made do without at least the nail gun and countersink at least. Maybe instead of the nail gun used a staple gun since at least that's a pretty cheap tool to pick up.

    • @MajorFrenchy
      @MajorFrenchy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well. If people are going to put a kit together, they need the basic tools like glue, screws etc... i did not touch any power tools for this other than a drill. If folks don't feel capable of putting this kit together, they can try to buy a second-hand cabinet or purchase this kit fully assembled. The nailer was not needed,I could have used just the glue.

    • @shivorath
      @shivorath 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I get that and I do appreciate the video! I'm hoping to borrow a friend's workshop to build a cab but if that doesn't work out I may have to get a flatpack myself so it's good to know what I'm getting into. I just think it could have improved the video by demonstrating what can be done with just the basics. Maybe the nailgun isn't technically a power tool, but it definitely looks intimidating to the average person I'd say, especially if they google the pricetag on those.@@MajorFrenchy

      @@shivorath Our cabinet includes a couple of predrilled holes on each panel face for easy installation of the panels. No nail gun is required simply a drill and some nice finishing screws. If you want to use a nail gun that's fine but it is not needed. In addition we can build the kit and ship it to you fully assembled. Shipping would not be included but it is a huge time saver.
