I've found myself doing the same thing as well, spending way too much time scrolling. So I've been de-hoarding/decluttering everything, not only has it been cathartic but I'm a bit more organized for it. Chores, Hobbies and Crafts is my new leaf (and in that order) and I'm loving it. Reading is the next thing to add to my hobby list. Great video as always and thanks for the reminder there's more to life than scrolling.
You can even combine some of these hobbies. Like listening to audio books while crafting or going for a walk and taking your book with you. Reading in a park, in the forest or just simply in your garden feels like a really amazing but still so easy thing to do :)
My screen time is already 7-8 hours due to work. Sometimes another 7 hours on the smartphone. I was shocked too. I loved doing puzzles as a child and picked up that hobby again last fall. I really want to try Lego with their “flowers”. That's definitely fun. My most enduring hobby is reading.
So believe it or not, I noticed this problem escalating mid July. I gave myself time to do other things, but I kept rewarding myself with little breaks that ended up to scrolling again. Overall, I deleted it from my phone. I'm on my tablet right now but it's for back to school advice. I haven't really had much to do on my phone since. I've found myself sketching more which I've gotten really good at, practicing music, cleaning, and socializing. I'm very proud. Sometimes you just have to remove the problem overall to see the change.
I have got back into making earings which is always quick and meditative. But also I now paint my nails every week which just adds another thereputic step in my self care Sundays
Thank you for your great video ! I realised a few years ago that mindlessly scrolling made me feel depressed and that's when I also noticed that I had almost no other hobbies than screen time. We tend to easily forget how important it is to be bored from time to time, we are not robots and our brain needs some rest in order to be able to think and be creative.
I tend to "accidentally" scroll mindlessly at night and it would suddenly be 3am and I would get so annoyed at myself, like I could've used the time to get proper sleep or anything other than scrolling! I'm so happy I fell in love with reading at night again ☺️ (Your english is perfect ❤️)
Of course I adore your usual DIY videos but I’ve also been loving the other styles you’ve been sharing lately! Thank you for the inspiration, I definitely needed this. Also all of your craft ideas were so fun, I’d love to see more tutorials in the future!!
Really needed this reminder, thank you! Last year, I picked up making ceramics at home which was really satisfying, but with moving a lot and adjusting to new surroundings, I completely stopped doing it. This video was def a good reminder to pick it up again
I have to say that this video is really very good, its helpful and motivational I’ve been feeling bad because of my screen time for a long and now actually im trying to improve my hobbies And this really motivated me So thanks a lot ❤
Oh my goodness, I've never heard anyone else talk about the book Attachments! It's my comfort read and one of the very few books I've read more than once...and I still plan to read it again. 🥰
thanks for this video! it is very inspiring. I also found myself scrolling mindlessly for hours, trying to satisfy this itch and in the end it is always doing other things like reading, making travel videos, learning languages etc that make me feel good instead!
I just finished reading The Bookseller at the End of the World, I saw it in one of your previous videos and got our local library to purchase it! Thanks for the recommendation! 😊
can I just say you’re living the dream. I hope I get to live like this one day, even if it’s just for awhile. ~a singaporean girl who dreams of stepping out and seeing the beauty the rest of this world has to offer
I’m so excited to try out some of these ❤️ Lately I come home from work and just watch tv and go to bed, so I really needed a bit of inspiration to change things up and rediscover passions!!
Ok so I just reading before bed but began to fall asleep so I decided to open TH-cam and watch this video. The book I'm currently reading is the same book that you show on 08:03min!! "Before the coffee gets cold". What a coincidence! I'm enjoying your video very much btw :)
Not sure if this counts as a hobby, but as I don't have a car at the moment and I work mostly from home, I realized I was/am becoming pretty sedentary. I've always been pretty fat, but I decided to try to do something about it as the double chin is kinda becoming a triple 😂. A TH-camr I like did a video of him doing a lot of the exercises from the Nintendo Switch Fit Adventure game, which uses a flexible "ring" and a leg strap for the controllers to track your movements. He seemed to be getting a good workout from it and I liked the "gamefication" of exercising. The game also seems to have a lot of positive reviews. I've not exercised in ages, so something lighthearted and fun sounds more up my alley. My only concern is I live upstairs and don't want to bother my neighbors, but I have a thick rug in the living room and will maybe skip anything that requires running (maybe I can get away with a soft jog). I bought my set used from eBay, which saved me about $20. I was shopping for sports bras and a scale to weigh myself when I got the notification for this video, lol. I'm not necessarily going for a dramatic shift in health, but just something better than being sedentary at my work computer or on the phone all day. I'm excited for my stuff to arrive 😊
Yes this counts. Good for you, sounds really fun actually. Maybe I should do the same thing so exercising is fun instead of a boring chore for my ADHD brain.
Every video is so amazing! Danke, dass Du so schöne Videos machst. Deine Kreativität und Sensibilität inspiriert und tröstet mich gleichermaßen. Von Herzen Danke❤
I'd love to take up on scrapbooking but I'm not a creative person, so I feel like I enjoy it better when watching others do it. But what I absolutely love is sitting down to organize and write. Right now, I'm working on making my own recipe book. Since I'm not too good, I do it with canva. But I'm sure others could do it by hand, like a journal ^^ I'm sure if you did it, it would turn out so so beautiful! 💙✨
Thank you for this lovely video ! It gives me so many idea of what i can do to spend more time away from screen ! I spend most of my free time playing video games and my eyesight is getting very bad because of it and i'm not talking about my migraines 😅 so thank you again it's so relaxing to listen to you 🤎
I have an old globe in my home and I wanted to give it away.. now I can't wait to transform it! Traveling is my passion and the globe will be a wonderful decoration in my room. Thanks for an idea!
I really love your video and your voice conveys calmness and I also like how you have integrated new hobbies/handicrafts to your life. I would like to know, what game is from the 10:05 min ?
@@cloudyhills thank you for taking your time to answear! :) I wanna introduce myself in this kinds of games! I hope someday you would make a video about the games that you have played! Have a nice day!
My daily avg screen time has skyrocketed this summer after exams ended. I feel so unproductive and it has ruined my sleep as well. Time to try out some activities like these
Hi Hills! Loved the whole vid, but especially your book recs. I have the ‘Bookseller…’ on my TBR list and wasn’t totally sure about it. Now I am. 😀 Getting it asap [the hardcopy addict I am]. Cheers!
idk if it's because I'm maybe burnt out from school or the fact that scrolling and short-form content has completely fried my brain but I've been struggling to start any of these hobbies as well as be consistent with them. It's like my brain is just stuck in freeze mode and I can't get myself to do anything I want to do. Have you experienced sth similar to this and if you have do you have any advice on how to overcome it?
It's really hard to catch myself doom scrolling in the mornings especially. Im trying to put my phone completely away into another room or turn it off before going to bed, maybe that will help. I dont want to waste my precious mornings anymore, wish me luck!!
Thank you for this and also for sharing your favorite games including the average time and difficulty! Made some screenshots. Da werde ich für meinen Mann und mich auch ein paar Spiele organisieren:)
Another amazing video. 😊 Just wanted to share though that J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter is very transphobic and has politically positioned herself on the right. So consuming her content indirectly and directly supports her. 💔 Absolutely love your other recommendations tho!!!
I need reassurance that you’re giving your very high energy dog enough exercise and stimulation. Can’t just let them sniff objects and be on a leash, they need to run vigorously and have a purpose like retrieval or intelligence training.

Agreed! Audiobooks while crafting or gardening is my favorite!
I don t have the mind to do 2 things at once

The lego flowers are definitely fun!! I've been holding back on buying the succulents one myself hee

That sounds lovely ☺️ I've always wanted to try making earrings, but I'm terrible at such delicate crafts!
Painting my nails right now! On a Sunday too 🌟 (blue green polish with blue sparkles💙🩵🌎💚)

yes, please! I loved the suggestions on board games.

I too scroll more during the hot summer months. That star trivet was the perfect inspiration to shift to something more beautiful.
I’m so excited to try out some of these ❤️ Lately I come home from work and just watch tv and go to bed, so I really needed a bit of inspiration to change things up and rediscover passions!!
I know what you mean, that was my routine some years ago too! Start with something small and you'll definitely find surprising joys from it 😉
this was so satisfying to watch😌i've tried to reduce my screen time but after a couple of days i start to get fomo and fall to the same old habits😪
I‘m german and I just fell in love with your German accent 😭❤️
Thank you for recommending The Bookseller at the End of the World. I just finished reading it and i loved it!

Such an wonderful reminder! ..it’s hard for me to start my (old/new) hobbies (again) cause of my perfectionism..❤thanks a lot, loved it!
Try starting with the small things, like writing 3 things that made you smile today ☺️

I need reassurance that you’re giving your very high energy dog enough exercise and stimulation. Can’t just let them sniff objects and be on a leash, they need to run vigorously and have a purpose like retrieval or intelligence training.
yes :) She has intelligence trainings via trick training and puzzles almost every day, and lots of running around (no jumping) catching ball time.
